"What do you need?" Tynan asked, sipping his own cocktail.

"Start rumors about me in town." Xaldin answered simply, shrugging. "About the powerful mage who likes to kill and use dark magic. It'll take root quick enough. Simpletons like the ones here enjoy gossip... might have even found a way to get the bunny, Arlen, and your little toy out of the building, where they can't be helped by anyone until it is too late."

"The rumors will be easy," Tynan said. "Though if you don't mind, could you tell me what your plan to get them away from the inn is?"

"We have until the nineteenth... that's enough time for a grief-stricken uncle to get back from Hawert." Xaldin grinned, showing all of his teeth. "The bunny was distraught after I mentioned it, and the boy was eager to help her feel better. If I mention a ceremony, something small to honor the dead family that I do at every stop, I think they will both come... so will Vincent, and so will Ukaia, if only to keep them all safe. Then, we can strike."

"Are you certain that Vincent and Ukaia will be the ones to escort them? There are a number of interesting individuals at the Muffin. They all seem to be quite close."

"Yes, but..." Xaldin smiled, eyes closing. "Lily, while she has friends, is not particularly close with anyone other than those three. She feels that she is flawed, defective... she is nice, and she is polite, but she does not encourage true intimacy with anyone but Arlen, Ukaia, and Vincent. Cerridwyn is permitted in on occasion, but only because they were once the same person."

"If you are certain," Tynan said, setting his empty glass down. "Do you have any underlings at your disposal? If they think they outnumber us they will be less likely to cooperate."

For a moment, Xaldin's face darkened with anger, and his hands clenched. "I have a few." he answered tightly, remembering when he had hundreds at his beck and call, through them wielding hundreds more. "They will come when I call for them."

"I see, should I look for some hired muscle or will they suffice?" he asked calmly.

Xaldin glanced at him coldly, then sighed, pushing his emotions away. "Hired muscle is rarely good enough. You've failed with it before, haven't you?"

"It wasn't hired muscle as much as it was the town guard," Tynan said dismissively.

"Then hire away." Xaldin told him flippantly, waving a hand. "Do you require funds, or do you have any better plans?" he asked, arching a brow.

"I am in no need of funds," Tynan said with certainty. "Though I would like to know more about your plan of attack so we do not end up tripping over each other so to speak."

"Well..." Xaldin pursed his lips, then grinned once more. "I will handle Lily. Make sure your muscle knows that. They are not to touch her. I can keep her distracted well enough on my own." Then he sighed, rubbing his temple. "My plans for Vincent are not working out as well as I'd hoped. Tell me... have you ever fought a dragon?"

"I take it you mean the dragon that can take the form of a human," Tynan said. "No, I have only fought a mindless raging beast of a dragon before."
