Tikal's eyes widened slightly, but the shock passed. She's a gold rider... Lapis flittered down and perched on her shoulder as Tikal mentally kicked herself.

"Um...yeah, I was searched a few weeks ago down in Benden Hold," she answered, "Oh shells, I'm sorry. I didn't know you were the substitute weyrwoman...I meant no disrespect."

"Yes, well, I haven't exactly been around too much lately." She manages a real smile. "Substitute Weyrwoman, eh? I guess I'm just the Weyr's Substitute in general. I'm also Substitute Weyrlingmaster. I'm sure before long, someone else will be unable to do their job and I'll fill in for them too." She chuckles. "If I want a day off, I'm going to have to fake my own death or something."

"Sounds like a busy life. As of a few days ago, I am completely clueless...it's a new existence for me!" she said with fake cheer.

Lapis gave a snide cheep which earned him a mock glare.

"I do too know what I'm doing," she informed the blue, "it just escapes me at times." Turning back to Ray, "I don't suppose you keep a muzzle with you?" Lapis glared at her.

"Tried that already. Mine just went between without it." Ray makes a dramatic face. "It's a sacrifice we Flit Owners must make; any time we want someone to take us seriously, the Flit seems determined to undermine it. Though mine is hiding from me today."

"I can't seem to ditch him today, his brother's off sleeping somewhere..."
Mean, hissed the little blue.

"Say what you will, Lapis, he can wipe the floor with you." Lapis looked offended and turned away.

"Spoiled brat,"muttered Tikal gently rubbing his little head in apology. "Tell me are dragons as bad as flits?"

Over Benden Weyr, a rather large bronze dragon appeared out of between, bugling a greeting to the watchdragon as he spiraled by. Pericolath and P'las from High Reaches.

As the dragon slowly spiraled down, his rider noticed the few visible bronzes seemed anxious and rather eager. What's up, Peri?

One of the queens will Rise soon.

Really... Hmm....

Mine, we are here on an errand, not to enter a Flight.
However, Pericolath was unable to change his rider's mind and sighed. P'las would want him to enter the Flight, but the bronze was reluctant. There were only there on an errand, afterall.

About that time, the bronze landed in the Weyr Bowl and his rider dismounted. After a quick glance about, P'las headed for the Lower Caverns, hoping that whomever he needed to find for this random errand was there.

Pericolath found an empty ledge in the warm sunlight to wait for his rider, knowing that it would take a while if P'las had his way.

Entering the Lower Caverns, the bronzerider noticed that there were few people in the kitchens. One had the shoulder knots of a goldrider. Perhaps this was the one...

Ray laughs. "Worse. They're a lot stronger in our minds than Flits. I sometimes have trouble telling my own feelings apart from Wrath's. And they're terrible at keeping secrets too. Once they learn something that they find interesting, they gossip worse than old Aunties."

She pauses a moment. "But it's so worth it. So very much."

"Excuse me, ladies." The bronzerider's strong voice slid easily into the conversation as he smiled at both candidate and goldrider. The man was tall and stoutly built, his features pleasant, but not charming. His brown eyes sparkled at the two women and curly brown hair was cropped close to his head. He wasn't attractive, but that didn't seem to deter him any.

"My lady," he addressed Rayinte, dipping his head in a polite greeting. "It is a pleasure to see such a charming woman. Perhaps you could aid me in my errand?"

"Eek...If I ever get one I hope it's a bit more discrete than that. I'd rather NOT have the entire weyr knowing my thoughts...my head is a scary place to be," she said with an overly-dramatic tone.

Weirdo. Lapis crooned.
"Then again, maybe that's why you turned out to be such a freak."

Arizath was restless constantley shifting his position on the ledge waking his rider. T'thia groaned and sat up just as a bronze burst from between. sleepily T'thia rubbed at her eyes. she glanced around and watched as a tall rider dismounted and his dragon took to an empty ledge

"what's up, what are they here for?"

....some errand, and the rider wants to enter in the flight. so that is part of my competition

T'thia gave Arizath a smack on the muzzle.

"you will not enter that flight, you're not old enough and no way Wrath would let a wyreling's dragon fly her"

you underestimate yourself mine. you are the first female rider, and the only one left from netaseth's clutch

"that does not give us right to enter in that flight. you will not"

she stood and stretched

"now drop down to the lower caverns and go eat, i'll bath you after"

Arizath rummbled and bent so T'thia could mount. strapless t'thia gripped the neck ridge tightly as the bronze dropped off the ledge and her stomach met her throat. in a matter of moments she was on the ground outside the lower caverns. Arizath launched himself back up to his ledge, and T'thia strode into the lower caverns. she grabbed a plate and took some meat rolls, roasted wherry, and tubers. grabbing some chilled fruit juice she took a seat at the wyreling table. another area she was getting sick of. she sighed and began to eat, ignoring the others in the room. she knew that Rayi was in a poor mood, and the other was a bronze rider, not her place to involve herself in their discussion. she contented herself with mulling over her lessons in ehr head as she ate.

Ray smiles slightly at Tikal, and then turns to the stranger. Her smile deepens a little bit at his polite greeting. "Perhaps," she says. "I do not believe I have met you, but I certainly seem to be the person people turn to when they need help." She shrugs. "My name is Rayi, Wrath's rider."
PostPosted: Fri Jan 28, 2005 5:37 pm

"A pleasure, Lady Rayi. I am P'las, rider of Pericolath, from High Reaches. My Weyrleader had heard that Benden was having some problems and wanted to know if there was any way that High Reaches could help." The man's smile remained on Rayinte as he congradulated himself on correctly guessing that this was the rider of the soon-to-Rise gold. He'd just have to be careful, now...

Tikal quirked an eyebrow and tried hard not to laugh. She had spent enough of her life in the company of men to recognize a badly veiled pick-up line when she heard it. She excused herself from both gold and bronze rider, knowing she had no place in this conversation.

"See you later Tikal," Ray calls after the youngster as she escapes. Smart move. Ray wishes she can do the same...

Hmm. A bronzerider, eh? Well. Not a local one, but still, maybe the Headwoman wouldn't look all disapprovy if she noticed Ray talking to some guy at the Wingleader's table, right?

"I'm hardly a Lady; just Ray is fine. And I suppose I am the person you should talk to. It's awfully sweet of High Reaches to offer their assistance, though I think we have things mostly back under control." She glances sidelong at P'las. "We are in need of a new Weyrlingmaster, if you think High Reaches can spare a qualified individual."

The bronzerider thought for a few moments. There were a few that could probably handle such a role, though a few had barely graduated from Weyrlinghood themselves. "I'm sure there is at least one qualified person there, ma'am. When I return, I could ask around to see if any wish to take up such a duty."
