The young cheetah was not halucinating. Another of her species was cheerfully trotting her way, completely oblivious to her presence. Kimbio had long since grown used to the sweltering heat of the desert; he'd lived among the sands since birth, and for that reason he thought absolutely nothing of the 'warm' day out on the plains. A slight movement caught his eye, but he acted as if he hadn't noticed, continuing with his carefree jog while at the same time warily watching the shadows. Someone was there...

Laio scrambled to her feet, the nervous energy which was hers habitually making her shift slightly around the treetrunk. She felt odd suddenly, and blinked. Her brother? But he was not here, he had travelled west after the fight. She stared hard. No, 'twas true... another of her species. She had not seen any others since that incident. She debated whether to step forward or not; but then her bold side reared its head, and she padded round out into the sunlight, stretching herself, flicking her tail idly, giving no impression that she had noticed the other cub.

The pale golden cub relaxed mentally when she stepped into the light. Good! He'd been worried it would be some roaming predator... A coward he was not, he was just...smart enough to stay away from anything that could eat him. Or that would enslave him, as he'd heard the red lions of the desert did... She was red, but she was young, and of his species. Nothing to worry about.. As he neared the other cub, Kim turned his eyes ahead, jogging carelessly by as if he hadn't even seen her. She didn't seem to interested in speaking with him, so...what was the point?

Laio almost dropped her cool pose of indolence as the other cub prowled on past without speaking. She could not let his information go by unknown. Adopting a careless tone, she called out.
"Pardon me, sir. What news do you bring from where you have travelled?" She stepped forward a few more paces, her dark blue eyes intent.

At the sound of her voice, Kimbio slowed to a walk, a faint smirk flashing across his face. Snickering, he glanced back over his shoulder at the red-furred cub, then turned around to face her, jogging carelessly back over. "Formal liddle thing, aren't you?" A few steps away, he paused and sat, adopting a haughty air. "I have traveled from across the desert where the fire lions roam. I've not seen another living creature for days, so I have no news whatsoever. Where am I, if you would be so kind?"

Laio's mouth curled into a smile, unsuccesfully hiding her indignant ruffle of fur at his arrogance. "There, you have already given me news, friend. I know nothing of the firered pride-cats. And of this place? I have heard it called Mistweaver, but it is a strange place, of which I have a little knowledge." She hid her disappointment succesfully though; if this cheetah was from a place she had not heard of, he would know nothing of the tattered remnants of her old coalition. She yawned idly, attempting to match the pale one's demeanour. "Perhaps we could exchange information, you and I?"

Gasping in mock horror, Kim widened his eyes, staring in false-shock at her. "Never heard fo the Firekin? Hmm... Well, I've never heard of this 'Mistweaver', so I suppose it makes sense. Still...." He trailed off, momentarily losing his affected snobbishness. However, it soon returned, along with a faint smirk and a wink. "On one condition, miss. Could you point me towards some water? I haven't had a drink since yesterday..."

"Maybe..." Laio smiled teasingly before turning with a sigh back towards the forest edge she had come, where the rivers collected vast pools below the mountains.
"If you follow me, we shall be safe," she instructed. "I met a pride-cat, who named herself Princess Ciyari of the RiverStar pride, but I have smelt no others than her, nor found their tracks. I find this most puzzling... but if there is trouble at the water, mayhap her name will get us out of trouble." She glanced sideways. "And if we are to travel this afternoon together, for it is quite a way, I would know your name?"

After nodding in reply, he started out after her, jogging at first to catch up, then slowing to a walk at her side. "Well...that's helpful. You...speak to the pride-cats? They must be different here.... I wouldn't dare approach one of the desert breed." He fell momentarily silent, then grinned, turning his eyes forward and droppy the airy act. "Name's Kimbio, or just Kim if y'd rather. Who're you?"
PostPosted: Sat Sep 11, 2004 5:09 pm

The female dippedher head in the formal greeting. "Well met, Kimbio. I go by the name Laio. May you run fast, hunt well." Then feeling a little silly for being so formal, she tossed her head slightly and held it high. "The pride-cat... is only a cub, and the only one I have seen. She saved my life from a tree-cat's attack, which makes me uncomfortably indebted to her... but she seemed friendly enough. What of these desert breed you speak of? They do not sound so amicable..."

((I have to go, 'tis past 1 am for me. Sorry! ^__^))

(('Tis fine n_n See ya 'round))

"Ahh, that makes a bit more sense...though the Firekin cubs would ne'er do so much, methinks." Yawning absently, he allowed his eyes to wander the plain. Finally he spoke, though slowly, considering each word. "The desert pride... Each lion has fur of red. Multiple shades, of course, but always red. Any other color is not tolerated. Those born...are either killed or enslaved." He fell momentarily silent, padding thoughtfully at her side, eyes following the ground. "The Firekin, as they call themselves, consider themselves above all others.... much like any other pride-cat, of course. Though, unlike the others, they capture and enslave other species. Which is why I left... at least for the time being. 'Twas too dangerous."

*opening her left eyes she peers around the area with a slightly blurry vision. Noticeing that its the morning shes places the hooves that she had tucked under her body that night on the ground so she can raise her body up. Finally standing up she gives a slight snort and shakes her head back and forth. blinking still haveing the night eyes her eyes travel over the herd. Some of them are still sleeping, but others are awake doing their normal grazeing. Dew had formed on the grass that night. The cold wetness of it sending slight chills up milia's legs. Looking down she lowers her head and licks up some of the dew*

Montsho shook her head gently in an attempt to free small dirt particles that had gathered in her fur. She'd stopped for some rest on the journey to her familiar tree to give the cub that hung loosely from her mouth a rest. The black leopard dropped the cub roughly as she took a look around. Her return trip had taken longer than she'd have liked and now seeing the lush surroundings it seemed very unlikely that nothing too great had changed.

As the leapard thought on, her attention divided between the enviroment and the tiny lioness, the cub began to familiarize herself with the landscape. She stuck her nose in a bush here and there and pawed curiously at certain blades of grass.

fedha kicked at the dirt as it piled up onto his black and white striped body. his head lifted showing his black and white mohawk. he stumbled to his feet and shook off all of the dirt, then peered at his pack. his father had run off to do some looking around, leaving him with mostly girls. he whinnied to his mother then looked to her "mom. were is father?" his mom looked at him, then smiled "he has gone off to look around, this is new territory to us, might belong to another." fedha cocked his head to the side then shruged, and took some stepts towards the watering hole, where he jumped in and rolled around. the heat had projected off his fur adn it now was some what burning his skin. he lapped at the water happily.
