Kent exited the Petalburg woods with Mudkip. "Muuuuudkip" Mudkip jumped out of Kent's arms and raced to the lake that was ahead of them. "Wait up" Kent started running after Mudkip laughing. Mudkip charged into the water and started splashing around. "Mudkip, kip" Mudkip squeaked. Kent stopped at the edge of the lake,"Oh come on Mudkip, we can always swim la-" He was cut off as Mudkip splashed water right into his face. "Oh, you're on now" Kent said, "Mud, kip kip kip" A wave of water washed over Mudkip from Kent's cupped hands.

After getting thoroughly soaked from their water fight, they got out of the water to dry off. Mudkip shook himself dry, getting Kent wetter than he was before. "Thanks a lot" Kent said with a grin. Kent picked Mudkip up and squeezed him against his wet shirt with the words,"Lets see how you like it". Mudkip squirmed in his arms trying to get out. Kent set him down and Mudkip started running ahead. "Hey, wait up." Kent got up and started running after him.

Kent finally caught up to Mudkip at the edge of Rustboro. He picked him up and walked inside the city. There were plenty of people and most of them had pokemon with them. He wasn't sure where to go though. Well, one thing was for certain. He was going to need more pokemon before challenging Roxanne. So he headed up past the PokeCenter and Pokemon Gym and headed east carrying Mudkip. And headed east.

((bump 44)) Kent continued walking through the grass. Mudkip was walking beside him. Mudkip was so inquisitive, trying to see everything at once. Kent smiled,"Take your time. I intend to stay here until I catch another pokemon or until it gets dark." Mudkip ran ahead and then turned and started running at Kent at full speed. Kent got a bit nerbous before Mudkip jumped and landed snugly in Kent's chest. Kent laughed,"Figures." ((bump 28, 44)) Kent decided to train Mudkip again. Wild pokemon didn't seem to like him. Maybe it was time to take a shower... He used his pack again as a practice dummy. He sat down and started drawing Mudkip tackling and growling at the dummy. Before he knew it, it was getting dark. Mudkip seemed ready to gain a level soon. Kent smiled and picked her up, "You did great. I'll carry you back. Kent started heading back for the Rustboro PokeCenter. ((bump 28, 44, 83)) They reached the PokeCenter and got a room. Kent entered the shower while Mudkip started eating dinner. Kent soon joined her in his pajamas. ((bump 28, 44, 83)) Kent woke up when Mudkip jumped onto his chest. "Oof" Mudkip began running around in circles on his body. "What are you so excited about girl?" Kent said. He got out his PokeDex, a gift from his father. He opened it and pointed it at Mudkip. A voice chirped, "Mudkip is level six and has learned Mud-slap". "Awesome!" Kent said as he picked her up and twirled her around. A beep in the next room caught his attention and he walked in there. Kent found an item waiting for him with some mail attached next to the PC. It was a bright blue stone. Mudkip jumped down and grabbed it in her mouth and ran down the stairs. "Hey, come back here with that!" Kent chased Mudkip down the stairs and caught her in front of a woman. Kent picked Mudkip up, who still had the stone in her mouth, and said,"Hello."
