Hiei was far too deep in the initial shock to notice that the fox had leapt from the tree and was now at his side. The voice of the other brought him back and he looked to the side with his eyes. He could just see Kurama out of the corner of his eyes, but he knew he was there. He tried to stop his ragged breathing, swallowing a few times. The Koorime couldn't help but feel very embarrassed about this. No one was to see how he could fall apart at the occurance of a dream. The Jagan burned, as it usually did after a nightmare and caused his whole head to ache. He could only bring his hands to his head and push it into the ground, gnashing his teeth.
"Nothing... Kurama..."
But his attempt at trying to say everything was fine was horribly pathetic. He knew it, too, and growled slightly

Kurama's eyes conveyed it all—his disbelief, worry, and overall want for the fire apparition to be happy,—a way of communication he rarely used, and reserved only for Hiei, but he still made sure to answer verbally. It may be possible to open him up, that way, but if he closed off completely... that might cause another rift between them, something the fox wanted to avoid.
"Hiei, I do not believe that, but... I will push no further."
His eternal curiousity would not get the better of him, now. If Hiei wanted to answer, it would be entirely voluntary.

Hiei blinked. Kurama had a way with being gentle about things like no one else. It was like coaxing a wild animal. The Koorime briefly remembered a case where Yusuke had to be informed of something they all knew would piss him off into a blinding rage. They didn't want that, as the detective's power would surely take over and something bad could happen. But Kurama had volunteered to be the one to tell him. Hiei had watched Yusuke's expression very carefully, expecting the worse. But when the fox spoke to him, the other just nodded his head and sat down for a minute. It really was quite a skill.
And so, the egde of the lock that was the Koorime's unpenetrable mind cracked and he spoke.
"It was a dream. It just startled me."

Kurama gave a slow nod, understanding, and not wanting to keep them on this train of thought any longer. This experience was clearly traumatic and did not need to linger in the Koorime's mind.
"You need not say more."
No doubt the dream was of his past, something the fox knew little of, only that it was horrifying enough to make him as closed off and cynical as he was. Hiei had not told him much of his childhood or later on, but the red-head did know some things—things he had heard from other demons,— even though it was hard to separate rumors from truth.

Hiei managed to get into a sitting position on the grass. His silence was, in a way, a mute 'thank you' to the fox for being so unobtrusive. He really appreciated it, and because of that he didn't close off to the other as he might've.
Looking up, Hiei could see the cloudy colors of morning arriving and he was a little bit thankful. He was fine without that sleep and would gladly stay awake now.

Kurama allowed the silence to continue, more because he had nothing helpful to say than because he didn't want to actually hold a conversation. If the Koorime did want to talk, maybe he would signal it somehow?
His green eyes then focused on the sky, watching the indigo turn to reds and oranges. Sunrise—it may be a good thing to some, but for the fox, it meant that he would be lacking sleep today, especially since he did not want Hiei's nightmares to revisit him.

Jacque growled at the coming sun light. Contrary to popular belief, the sun did not kill vampires, per se, it just stung a bit, seeing as they lacked most skin pigmentation...
So he was not allowed to hurt them, was he. Well, he would make full use of what he had heard Night refer to as 'loopholes'. He would not hurt them, but there were ways to torment without causing physical pain...

After a few more minutes of allowing his body to relax, Hiei decided on something. "Kurama," he said straightly. "If we plan on trying to get back into the psychic's home, we'd better do it now."
Standing up and pulling his katana from the ground, he sheathed it and looked at the fox. As for getting back in, he didn't have much of a plan. Not that he could think of one with his mind still suffering from the aftershocks.

Though not sure why returning right then was so important, even though they had discussed it, Kurama nodded in agreement. Actually, it did make some sense... it would give them something to do, other than sitting around all day.
"But unless you want to carry me, I advise you to walk a bit slower this time," the fox teased, trying to lighten the mood slightly, and hoping such a comment was appropriate, as he rose and began walking in the direction of the mansion.

Jacque slowed and sniffed at the air. They were moving... back to the mansion? He wondered fleetingly if Night would knock them on the head before letting them back in. He didn't doubt it.
The vampire shook his head to get his thoughts back on track. Stupid sun was getting to his head...
He followed the new trail quietly, watching out for the intruders.

Hiei followed directly after, not at all stirred by the fox's attempt to make things more comfortable. He just went on being silent, keeping himself at a lazy pace (for a Koorime such as himself) and followed Kurama. His head ached horribly, and he made sure to cover the damned Eye. Gazing upward, he forced himself not to think about the others or Yukina. The thing he found, oddly, that was best to concentrate on right now was Kurama's hair. The color, not quite rose and not quite crimson, was a thing he admired from time to time. Secretly, of course.
Of course this easy silence only lasted so long and Hiei stopped dead in his tracks, turning his head slightly.
"Kurama, get out your rosewhip."

Kurama's rose-based weapon was removed from his silky crimson hair and transformed so swiftly that it seemed almost as if the request hadn't been necessary. It actually may not have been. But none-the-less, he was ready to fight.
And to fight what?
The fox scanned the area, using his senses, aside from the ones he obviously couldn't use due to the range issue. The creature may've been reptilian, but one thing he was certain of: it wouldn't be a challenge.
So why not give it some purpose and provide the Koorime a sort of show?

Hiei unsheathed his katana and turned his gaze just in time to see Kurama take out his weapon. Quirking a brow, he saw the look in the other's eye. Then he slid his sword back into the sheath and unbent his knees. If the fox wanted to entertain, then let him.

"Thank you, Hiei, for letting this fight be mine." His voice was soft, but lacked any recognizable emotion.
Kurama lured the creature out of hiding, into the clearing were himself and Hiei stood. This was simple, the creature would slither away from anything it deemed a threat-- namely, his plants.
Even the beast's appearance wasn't impressive in any way. It's upper body was similar to a human's, but covered in greenish scales, and the tail was that of a snake, giving the demon an almost mermaid-ish look.
But definitely not a pretty mermaid.
And the dance began.
The fox gracefully wove the whip around the demon, making contact only enough to keep it going, but not letting it get within range for it to attack. It didn't seem to be a type with any extraordinary power, so it probably wouldn't surprise him with a blast of fire or so.
Occasionally, the snake would hiss a threat. But that was so easy to ignore.
