Amagai Genji, the Investigation Team's Gentle Fist "...You see the surface, but my eyes see more..."It felt like they were rushing towards his house, but then, there were times when it felt like they weren't rushing at all. That they couldn't get there fast enough, and every moment that slipped away in transit increased the odds of a bad ending for his family at the other end of their journey. But the truth was much less pleasant...that whatever bad end they could have met likely already came to pass, or at least, if it were going to, it would have already happened. They were probably just coming upon the aftermath of his nightmare, and they could do nothing but try to piece together the pieces of what happened, if they had the stomachs for it. He couldn't think that way, though, and as he threatened to venture towards that territory Minori's hand brushed over his, thumb padding over the Gentle fingers that held onto her, and he felt his worried expression break into a small smile...but this time he didn't blush quite as innocently as before, though no less warmly. This time...the gravity of her words, of what she meant to him, was a bit more clear to him. They were in the end of the world and they were still together, and he couldn't imagine that any other way that he could live with. That spoke volumes...didn't it?
"I will always be with you, Minori," he told her with a steel and warmth in his voice that he hoped translated from his lips and resonated in her heart, gave her the strength that she instilled inside of him, "We will be together. I cannot imagine surviving here without you. Physically, or..." He trailed off, deciding that he didn't want to get too mushy right now...and this time, his cheeks did flush a little pink as he caught himself getting a little carried away just now. Turning his eyes towards the distance, he could almost see his house now. There was no more time to look away...whatever the truth might be, they had to find it. There. Now.
"...Come, Minori. We are almost there now..."Quote: 46 Tokens. Demon: Inugami [13], Aquans [17] Fate Links: Youmu [1], Minori [1], Nix [1]

Minori Koroko His words were sweet, sincere, warm. The girl felt a lump on her throat and she couldn't help the small giggle on her lips seeing his bashful expression. Oh, Genji... She really did love him. Just like him, she felt her face turning warmer, and the girl focused her gaze to the path ahead, before she did something that she would regret later on. Not because of the thought itself...but because this definitely wasn't the time for something like it. They were out in the open...demons swarmed all around them...they were on a mission. Later...when things went back to normal -because the girl knew they would- ...later, she'd act upon those feelings that threatened on bursting her heart in that instant.
She recognized the path they were walking. It was arid and half-destroyed now...but she knew they were getting closer. It hadn't been more than a few days since she had walked this path with him. It looked so different back then. Everything had been green, and she remembered the comfortable silence of the country...she had remembered how nervous she had been back then, but so excited at the same time...at the thought of spending time with Genji back at his place. It had been the first time -second one in reality, but that night of the Shade attack didn't really count- she was visiting the Amagai Estate...and it was everything she had expected and more.
Now... everything seemed so...dead. It twisted a knot in her stomach...it fired an anger she didn't know she had been keeping. This much destruction...all this death...only for a war of power that didn't really had anything to do with them. Why... did they have to suffer like this? Because two powerful entities thought it was time to overthrow the other? It was unfair. Quote: Bicorn (17) Taraka (20) Tokens: 53 Macca: 10 Links: Genji (2) Soji(1) Nix (1)

Soji Seta, Investigation Team Leader "Show me a hero, and I will write you a tragedy"It was tempting to check every abandoned building, every bit of rubble along the way, because anywhere that he hadn't looked yet might reveal a clue about the whereabouts of his friends and family. He knew that it would have taken far too long, though, especially when you considered some places like the book store were mostly fallen in; digging through rubble safely could take days at times, and he didn't even have hours to spare. Minutes could be the difference between living and dying...surviving and thriving...finding the people that he cared about and missing them, losing them to the demons, or worse. And there were still the Fiends to consider...with half of the day long gone by now, it was getting to be do-or-die with the Trumpeter that was hounding the people around town and nearly killed Genji. His Candelabrum had told him all that he needed to know about that particular enemy, flickering wildly in warning when he had been nearby before, and if what he had been told was true, then a duel between them was inevitable as long as one of them didn't die in the meantime. Trumpeter was certainly powerful, he could feel that just by being in his presence. But Soji, well...he was confident, he was sure, that when they met again...he would have closed the gap between them. But Trumpeter was just the first of many. If Obelyn was right, the war was just beginning for humanity...
"Come on out, you b*****d..." the silverette spoke under his breath as he passed by Daidara's and stopped outside of the store that used to transform into a night club at night. He remembered spending a night or two in there, feeding the fish, getting tips on which bugs were the best to catch and trade at the Shrine. Junior Year at Yasogami High School had been...busy, and strange. He never imagined that Senior Year would have been even weirder, but...here he was. And there it is. Life was funny sometimes.Quote: 59 Tokens 30 Macca Demons: Abaddon (69), Bishamonten (72), Trumpeter (76 - Used Evil Melody on Day 1)

Soji Seta, Investigation Team Leader "Show me a hero, and I will write you a tragedy"He couldn't look at the Tofu Shop as he crept past it, not wanting to relive the painful memories of his last visit there, nor the sickness that the fight he had there left inside of him. Instead he kept his eyes trained on the distance, where Aiya's was not too far away and beyond that the skewer stop, the abandoned Caesar's Gym, and the Shrine where the fox used to meet with him and help him fulfill the wishes of those in need. Each of them reminded him how innocent he had been back then, even as recently as this morning...thinking about a silly demon kitchen in Aiya's felt almost disgusting now that he thought back to the Nisroc and what it had been serving in the kitchen of the Amagi Inn. The empty Gym reminded him of the Tournament not so very long ago, how Chie had looked so strong until they were all attacked by the Black Messengers, and when he thought about how he believed he was making a difference in the way that he helped people at the Shrine...seeing the way that the world had gone more than once now...he almost felt foolish. Almost. But then he thought about what Rise would have said to him if she caught him thinking that way, pointing out that he had made those people's lives better...how Yukiko would have frowned and told him that the world wasn't over yet, that she believed he could make it right...he knew that he couldn't dwell on those self-loathing sorts of thoughts.
Yosuke would have him thinking about their next move already, and Naoto probably would have had so much information that he would barely have to think at all to put the pieces together on what was going on. He could probably send Kanji alone to deal with it, honestly, but it was better if Teddie was with them as well. He could sniff out any of the threats before they got the jump on them. No, he couldn't dwell on the dark right now. They would have been disappointed in him, their leader, and he couldn't have that now, could he? He continued on down the drag smoothly; a few devils blocked his path but he rolled right past them with a simple destruction, paying little mind to lesser threats right now than the Fiends themselves.
They were in his crosshairs. They were responsible. And for the friends that were constantly on his mind...they were going down, one way or another.Quote: 69 Tokens - 10 Tokens [Draw Out Mithra - 79] - 0 Tokens [Free Fusion of Mithra + Abaddon = Raphael (84)] - 10 Tokens [Draw out Gabriel (87)] = 49 Tokens - 10 Tokens [Draw out Michael (90)] = 39 Tokens 30 Macca Demons: Bishamonten (72), Trumpeter (76 - Used Evil Melody on Day 1), Raphael (84), Gabriel (87), Michael (90)

Soji Seta, Investigation Team Leader "Show me a hero, and I will write you a tragedy"He was most of the way through the Town, coming up on the collapsed Textile Shop and what remained of the picked-clean Liquor Store where he had used to meet Naoki on occasion last year, before they would hang out and talk about this or that. Walking by the location had always made him a little sad, thinking about the friend that he had lost to Hetero and Raiden, but in a way, he had managed to avenge him when he took down Hetero for the first time in that horrific battle not so very long ago. It was small comfort, of course, but he had done all he could to honor his memory. He vaguely remembered Naoki's funeral and how much it hurt, and how that was also the day that unstable Christopher Yuki had been put away for insanity...not long before he too, died. So much had happened in the last half-year, but nothing really held a candle to this. He had grown as well, though, and as the world seemed destined to devolve into chaos, he stood now as ready as he had ever been to face the threats that this Apocalyptic World seemed ready to throw at him. His hand touched the hilt of his blade as he slowly passed the Textile Shop and the Liquor Store, but at the edge of the Downtown District, opening out into the edge of Town, he saw something waiting for him...a challenge that he had not expected this soon.
It was a man with silver hair and facial markings, the white fur of a wolf draped over his shoulder and a blade clutched in his single hand, looming...walking in his direction without betraying a hint of emotion or purpose save for the measured length of his stride. In his stomach, he could feel the tension beginning to fill his body, the adrenaline pumping, and as the two came close to one another he tightened his hand on his blade just in case...the fight was about to begin.
He knew who this was...this was the Wolf or Ragnarok in his stoic, human form. Fenrisulfr...eldest of the Jotun which attacked the town not so very long ago. As a team, they had only managed to stall him long enough to convince him to leave before...not he personally, but those who had fought him. On his own, fighting a monster this strong would prove a challenge no his best day. And without his persona, his best days were a ways off...
Still, he would fight. He readied for the battle as they walked within feet of one another, blades still sheathed, but just as they came shoulder-to-shoulder with one another and he was certain the battle would begin...
...He felt a hand on his shoulder, faster than he could react, and a voice that spoke calmly into his ear...confident, almost dismissive but at the same time, with an edge of respect.
"Now is not our time. My master has high hopes for you."
His eyes widened. Time seemed to stop as he turned his head and caught the gaze of the Wolf watching him, analyzing him, seeing right through him. High hopes?! What did he...?!
"The time will come for you to show me what you can do," he assured him with ferocity leaking into his voice, perhaps rising to the inevitable challenge, "Stay alive until then, Soji Seta."
...And then, in a flash, the wolf was gone.Quote: 40 Tokens - 10 Tokens [Draw out Vishnu (93)] - 30 Tokens 30 Macca Demons: Bishamonten (72), Trumpeter (76 - Used Evil Melody on Day 1), Raphael (84), Gabriel (87), Michael (90), Vishnu (93)

Soji Seta, Investigation Team Leader "Show me a hero, and I will write you a tragedy"He could still feel the ice in his bones at the words of the Wolf of Ragnarok, the tension draining from his limbs, and as Fenrisulfr made his rather abrupt exit, the silverette couldn't help but feel as though he had just had a very important encounter for the future of this world. So, Loki was looking forward to what he could accomplish in this world? He had high hopes for him? But what sort of hopes would those be? Did he believe that Soji had a chance at ousting the Fiends and weakening the forces of Lucifer enough that it would help give him an edge in the battle between them? It was possible, he couldn't deny, but it was going to take more than just Soji to put an end to this war between the two of them. And if he had his way he wouldn't let either of the 'Lords of Hell' that had led to such destruction in his world come out the better for what they had done. This war was petty. He wasn't about to be a pawn in their game, even if the Candelabrum in his possession said that he was likely just that as far as the two of them were concerned. He'd just have to become strong enough to throw off that designation, to prove that he is something more. If he were to become the True Fiend in the eyes of this 'Tournament'...he would turn his power against the both of them. Drive them out of this world...
...But that was dangerous thinking. This wasn't his war originally, to begin with. It was something he had simply been dragged into, but he couldn't just turn away from it, either. He wasn't the type of person who could...and they must have known that when he became a part of it. Mataki likely knew that as well...as did Kisa, whom he had helped before.
He turned back to the road out of town and he considered what had just happened. Now he knew he was being manipulated. He was being played, watched, and if he didn't act very carefully, he could be playing right into the hands of the Trickster of the Lord of Darkness. ...Again he considered, was it really right for him to drag Minori and Genji into his problems at this point? They would only fall under the watch and consideration of enemies that were beyond them if they were together. Sure, he might have an easier go of it with friends, but they...he didn't want them to become his collateral damage. He'd have to think about it, and think well.
Before he went out to meet them near Genji's, if that was even where they were, he'd have to be certain. And if not...well, the Amala Network could take him somewhere that he could figure it all out on his own.Quote: 31 Tokens 30 Macca Demons: Bishamonten (72), Trumpeter (76 - Used Evil Melody on Day 1), Raphael (84), Gabriel (87), Michael (90), Vishnu (93)

Soji Seta, Investigation Team Leader "Show me a hero, and I will write you a tragedy"The Liquor Store looked different outside of the TV World. Inside it had been darker, a little twisted, and where the back corner had been larger than it should have been to give room to the Shadow that had been summoned within it, this one was much more...normal. It was still dark, of course, but the liquor that wasn't smashed and dumped on the floor, what remained on the shelves, was neatly stocked and on the whole, the shop was much smaller than he would have imagined from the impression he'd had before. He didn't go inside for any particular reason, only to get out of the open while he thought about what his next move was gone to be from here, but once he was inside there was only one thought that kept coming to mind. Full bottles on the shelves filled with glistening liquid had his already-parched mouth feeling positively like a desert; yes, he was thirsty, though alcohol obviously wasn't something he was planning to drink despite the remaining bottles on the shelves. However, as was not quite as well know to many as it could have been, Liquor Stores often carried entire freezers full of beverages of the non-alcoholic kind. And when he spotted a rack of Cielo Mist nearly-empty in the back, he made a quick bee-line to the back and scooped out the next-to-last bottle, cracking the warming soda open and taking a big drink.
Now that...hit...the spot.
Almost made him feel renewed after the small herd of Legion he'd dispatched just before coming in, but those pulsing, fleshy face-monsters were enough to keep him feeling generally uneasy even with the added comfort of a drink in his hand. But that wasn't why he had come in here, was it? He leaned back against a wall for a moment and finally, for the first time in a while, really let himself catch his breath and think. Should he stay here in Inaba for now, or seek answers elsewhere for the time being? Okina City was nearby, and he could use the Network to get right back here when he needed to...maybe he could find answers, or at least some food and resources, there that would help out their cause?
For some reason, he was really craving a burger right now. Or a pizza...
Okina was starting to sound very tempting, indeed.Quote: 41 Tokens - 15 Tokens (Fuse Vishnu and Raphael into Metatron [98]) = 26 Tokens 30 Macca Demons: Bishamonten (72), Trumpeter (76 - Used Evil Melody on Day 1), Gabriel (87), Michael (90), Metatron [98]

Amagai Genji, the Investigation Team's Gentle Fist "...You see the surface, but my eyes see more..."They had made it. Though looking at the Estate from the outside right now was nearly enough to break the young man's heart. Before it had stood as a beautiful, albeit not especially huge home for his entire immediate family, and in the back the woods had lead over into the mountains and his waterfall was the highlight of it all. Anywhere you looked on his family's grounds there was beauty to be found. In the wing on the West End his grandmother lived in the place where her and her husband, Genji's Grandfather, had lived together for over forty years. And in the back of the West End was the Dojo where he had learned the Gentle Fist that was his family's secret for centuries, mostly from his deceased grandfather who instilled in him the deep values that lead him to choose the path of the open-palm. He had so many memories of that end of his home, and on the East Wing where his father's offices were, where the Guest rooms were, and where his family's rooms were far beyond those...that was just as precious to him, from the morning talks with his mother to playing with his father when they were young. And in the center was the living room, the place where they had celebrated Christmases and entertained family and had so many good memories as a family.
Now it was a ruin.
The West Wing where his grandmother had lived was completely collapsed in on itself, and the Dojo appeared to be half-collapsed, the walls mostly patchwork now as the holes that had been blown in them were pronounced and obvious. The East Wing had burned, nothing but cinders and singed wood standing over there...burned all the way towards the center of the house, which had the door kicked down and claw marks torn in the jam violently. Something had forced its way into the home...but more than one thing had ruined it forever. He clenched his teeth and swallowed the pain that seeing his home in such a state awakened in him. This...wasn't fair. But none of this Apocalypse had been.
He clenched his free hand tightly...and though he didn't know what to say, he knew what he needed to do.
"Minori...I am going to search the rubble for any signs of them. You can wait here...if you would rather not see..."Quote: 56 Tokens. - 15 Tokens [Fuse Inugami and Aquans = Dis (23)] - 0 Tokens [Draw out Special Demon, Matador (30)] = 41 Tokens - 10 Tokens = 31 Tokens Demon: Dis [23], Matador [30], Power [33] Fate Links: Youmu [1], Minori [1], Nix [1]

Minori Koroko The air was sucked back into the girl's lungs the moment she saw the ruins of the Estate. Minori pressed a hand to her mouth, not believing how bad the destruction was. This...was worse than what she had imagined. She had wanted to be positive, but this...this was devastating. The demons had reached this far...farther away still, she could imagine. Her heart sank as she looked at her boyfriend, his expression pained and his face pale. This was difficult for him...And here she was, standing there in shock, unable to conjure a single word of comfort.
"Genji..."finally she was able to find her voice, and the blond took a step forward, resting a hand on his shoulder, before giving it a little squeeze. "No, I'll go with you. I want to help..." She wanted to be his support. She couldn't leave him alone in a time like this. And...the two of them could cover more ground quicker...and they'd find survivors faster.

Amagai Genji, the Investigation Team's Gentle Fist "...You see the surface, but my eyes see more..."Words really didn't do justice to the way that this task made him feel. Digging through the rubble of his home, fretting with every loose board or bit of mush that he was going to come across the motionless form of a member of his family, somebody that he loved dearly and had seen alive for the last time just before he went into the sleep from which he had awakened into this world. They were all so alive, so bright, just meeting Minori for the very first time...the girl that he cared about so much, like a joining of his family with the girl who might one day...
...Her hand on his shoulder was a small comfort, but the most that he could have hoped for. He didn't move, but he nodded when she offered to help him, unable to find it within himself to say no. His hand lifted and he touched her hand just for a moment, seeking that warmth...reminding him that there was still somebody here, somebody precious to him standing...and then he moved ahead towards the rubble slowly, deciding to first start on the West Wing, praying that what he found beneath the collapsed structure wasn't a lovely old woman who had been taken from the world in the cruelest way possible. Leaping on top of a loose board from the grass outside, he started to toss the wood away...one piece at a time, digging through crumbled drywall and beams that were broken, shattered, laying in a mess all around him. It would take all day to get through all of it, but he could guess the most likely spots that he might find...her, so he went there straight away and dug swiftly, purposefully, praying that he found nothing there to greet him.
...Instead of finding anything, though, he heard the low laughter of a devil not far behind him as it slowly made its way out of the scorched trees that had once lined the path to the Grove and sized up what it must have thought was a delicious-looking meal. As he turned, he could see a beastly Mezuki side-by-side with a Throne, that skeleton mounted on a burning wheel, looming ominously before them. He stood in the rubble and leaped up onto the highest point he could, looking down at them with stern, almost hollow gray eyes.
"Go away," he told them sternly, his voice low and dangerous, betraying not the fury that bubbled beneath.
"What? 'Go away?' KAH! Hahaha! Ey, Fire Spin, you 'ear that?" the Mezuki laughed, but Genji did not return his amusement, "He wants us to go away! Guess 'e musta known the lot we found in 'ere earlier. They wanted us ta' leave, too."
...His eyes widened, and slowly a white light, powerful and dangerous, began to fill them.
"Foolish mortal! Do you not realize yet? Death is come...for all humans...for you, for her, for the ones that we devoured when we arrived...it will all burn in the fire of the Conception, until Lord Tala and the Great Dark One reign over all!"
His hands clenched tightly...and for the first time, Genji found himself creeping beyond the self-control that lead him to fight his enemies with an open palm. These devils...these...bastards!
"C'mon, Fire Spin, lemme eat 'em already!"
...
"I will destroy you..." a low voice emanated from the berry-haired boy, his body exploding suddenly into a swirl of white energy as what almost appeared to be a spectral crimson cape of energy flowed out from his back, his hands extending into a stance around him...his eyes now pure white energy, filled with unshed tears, "I will DESTROY you! Down to your very souls, with the style that woman you dared to lay hands on taught me, I will break you here and now! And you, and your masters, will never reign over this land or any place on this Earth again...so long as I live!"
...In a flash, the boy was across the distance between them and with a single palm strike he sent Mezuki crashing through the trees, burying him sharply as several of them fell in on him, crushing his chest and leaving him pinned from the pain and the weight combined. Throne backed away after a moment, suddenly terrified...
"You...! Who...what ARE you?!"

"This is the pact I swear, upon my name, Genji...last of the Amagai Clan!"
And in a few more moments, the fight was over...Throne, Mezuki...nothing but magatsuhi and memory.
But the damage they had done could never be undone. To this world...to the people...or the boy on the lip of the trees behind his house crumbled to his knees...unable to speak, only soak in the impossible pain of losing near-to-his entire world in a matter of moments.Quote: 38 Tokens Demon: Dis [23], Matador [30], Power [33], Feng Huang [36] Fate Links: Youmu [1], Minori [1], Nix [1]

Nekura MyonmuNekura had just arrived in Inaba....and, at what he would find was the worst possible time. Were there demons around? No more than usual. Was there a war? Obviously, but not in that area. Was he landing in the middle of a cliche anime harem scenario that ended in pain from the Tsundere? No...Not quite....Rather."Ah, ah, Ahhhhhh~! What doooooo We have here?"Nekura was perplexed....Turning around for the source of the voice. When he did...Part of him visibly flinched. A demoness with long blonde hair, and dark skin.....Yet, half of her face.."So YOU'RE the one that my Lilim were talking about. Scar on the face....Grumpy attitude....And I hear you recuperate from anything that happens to you."]"Do I...Know..you?""You shoulllld! I mean, my last squeeze had regenerative powers too, but that's just cause of the decay thing. Mmm? You wanna know what i mean? Ohhh...But it's not right for a girl as pretty as myself to reveal ALL of her secrets..."Nekura...would not use the word pretty to describe the woman before him. He may have had a scar...but this woman was missing the skin on at least half of her face. "I...don't follow.""Oh, but that's Wrong, wrong WRONG! You should know The Empress of Beauty, Hel when you see her! Truly, My appearance is magnificent, and there is no mistaking any other harlot for my own! Right?""I'll..say." The boy was...more than a bit cautious with his words, seeing the woman. She looked half-dead....But, if he'd learned anything that day, it was that looks were deceiving.... And, as the woman strode over to him..He could tell by the scent it was no perfume, or make-up. She was an actual, half-dead being. "And what might your name be, my newest hubby-squeeze?"Gulp He had to hold back his vomit at this, wincing as he struggled to find the words. "I'm...Nekura..Myonmu." he called, wincing. "And I'm...Not..interes""Oooh! Nekura...Sounds like you're fascinated with death indeed! But that last name is such a bother....You can be my Nek-daddy until you fade away into nothingness! Just like all of my toys!"The boy took off at a FULL sprint at this, clutching his mouth. The very thought...No..the concept of what he'd heard was the most vile...repulsive thing he'd ever witnessed in his life..... And, in a post-apocalyptic world with demons, blood, and death around every corner.. 'BLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEECH[ That was saying something. Much like his actual, physical reaction at the woman attempting to bond with him...And against his will, succeeding.Quote: Event: Fate link! Fuse Unicorn and Earthys to make Kelpie! Yuuki was walking up the stairs to Inaba Hilltop to check to see if Jormungandr was waiting for her again, or if by chance someone else had seen her message and decided to meet her. However, much to her surprise there was a demon-- More like angel, standing by the railing instead. "I've been waiting for you." The winged man said before taking a couple steps closer to the girl, "I am Dominion, and I have seen your deeds and am considering serving you. However, I wish to test your strength." The armor clad angelic being drew his sword and pointed it at her. "What say you?"
Yuuki wasn't sure how to take such a sudden offer, but she didn't want to fight if she could help it. The girl shook her head in response before writing on her notepad and showing it to the other, I don't want to fight you.
Dominion smiled, "Very well, you pass," He said before he sheathed his blade and kneeled in front of the lass, "I shall serve you."
