"Hey, once Etsali steals my farm for me, we'll have plenty to buy food again. We don't need to stockpile like crazy, Vee." Cerpin rolled his eyes as he matched Tevini's pace meandering through the festival. He figured this crazed survival instinct was mostly due to her life at the bottom of the food (and finances) chain but he was here to rescue her from that. Currently he was disguised as a stylish yellowblood (or gold as he liked to think of it) but that status change didn't alter the amount of beetles in his pockets. Adjusting his cap, he tried to make sure the fake horns attached to it did a good job disguising his real ones underneath. His partner had lectured him that they were easily his most recognizable feature and had fussed about him getting a proper disguise.
When Tevini actually got mad, he'd discovered, it was best to just do as she said. Even if swallowing his pride sucked.
"What's this game? It looks messy but kinda fun!" He fished around inside the haystack, mimicking Tevini's movements but with a lot more enthusiasm. He thought for a moment he saw something glimmering inside but it turned out to be nothing more than a trick of the light from a nearby glowing lantern. Well, whatever, it looked like his partner was bored of the game too and they hadn't found any free loot for her to happily stash in her bag. Tapping her shoulder, they moved on to the next event.

Quote: I'm digging in the haystack ... I found: hay Tickets won: 1 Gourdi shoved her prong into the hay, letting her fingers wriggle around lazily while she attempted to p***k one on the damned needle. She gave up after a few minutes, her foot having begun a slow tap-tap-tap that grew more rapid in speed as her patience wore her down. She glared at the haystack as she retracted her hand. Then she flipped her hair over her shoulder and marched in the direction of her waiting lusus.

Quote: I'm participating in the exciting and vibrant agricultural market! Current crops: 10 punkins, 10 tarnips, 10 totatoes Action: turning in Crop gain/loss: -10 punkins Tickets won: 5 Gourdi approached the yellowblood cropmaster's booth with a sneer on her face. HoofDaddy followed behind her, carrying with him a cart that harboured the entirety of her collected bounty. "10 of my ********' finest punkins, and 5 of your pathetic little tickets." She said quite suddenly, and in the demanding tone of sometroll quite used to getting the way they wanted. She laid out her hand in the air in front of him, fingers splayed as she awaited her payment. When it was handed over, and the punkins turned in, Gourdi gave a grin. Her ticket collection was growing, and she loved it. She looked around, craving the chance to earn even more.

This time she dropped the innards of some snakebeast into it, smiling faintly as she watched them boil and writhe within the pot as though they were alive.

Quote: I'm burning mooncakes! I mean baking. My cakes are: Fruity (+1) Chewy (+1) Stamp perfect (+1) Overcooked (-2) Tickets won: 1 Gourdi had improved upon the initial set up of the mooncake. When she bit into it, it tasted both fruity and chewy. She had stamped it perfectly, too. But, just like last time, she left it in the flame for just a bit too long. It had elicited a small shriek from the child when she realized her repeated mistake, though she resisted the temptation to throw it down on the floor and stomp on it until it was mush. Instead, she offered it to the greenblood in charge of the booth. And she received a ticket for it! Gourdi grinned, shoving the bit of paper into her pocket.

Quote: I'm digging in the haystack ...I found: That shoe Tickets won: +1 Chiara barely bothered to look in the haystack. She had already procured a shoe. Sure, it was ugly, smelly, and never in her life would she wear such a thing, but it was hers and someone was missing it. She kicked around some hay for a bit, then went to go show off her prize for her single nightly ticket.

Kimbley Kitty Quote: I'm digging in the haystack ... I found: nothing Tickets won: 1 Head popping out of a smaller haystack, Leeroi gave a loud yell as his eyes fell on the thing he had been looking for this whole time. His shoe! "Hey! You found it!" Leeroi yelled at Chiara, scrambling towards her, tripping over himself. He paused to sneeze, then ran closer to the other blueblood. "That's my shoe!" Leeroi explained to her, pointing. Realization struck him. "Hey, you're Zin's friend, right? Thanks for finding my shoe! You're pretty cool." He moved to grab the article from her, leaning closer. forgot to roll guhhh

Chiara remembered Leeroi, not exactly with the fondest feelings, but he did stand up to Kursha. She held the shoe a bit farther away. "Yeah, Zin's friend. Im Chiara. Your that guy who got publicly humiliated by Kursha during the Royalist Party right?" Chiara grinned wide. Any troll who stood up to that horrible "leader" Kursha was cool in her book. "I got this thing from they hay stack. Not worth many tickets, but finders keepers ya know."

Leeroi scoffed, a bit of heat rising to his face, though it probably was just from his hay allergy. "I wouldn't call it public humiliation. It was just a fight where I couldn't hit back. If I was a few feet taller I woulda knocked his teeth out," He said, still scowling from the remark. "Finders keepers? What the ********, are you gonna make me walk around this place and get s**t all over my feet? Like, actual, literal s**t? We're in farm country, come on! Don't be an a**," Leeroi said, confused. What was this girl's beef? She obviously wasn't poor, so was she just a little klepto? Either way, Leeroi didn't like it. At Leeroi's side, Glitch took a step closer towards Chiara, glaring down at her with her many eyes. It was a defensive measure, knowing where Leeroi's temper could go. She wanted tonight to be a nice night. If she had to prevent Leeroi from trying to kill little girls, than so be it. A few mooncakes would probably cure his whining if he didn't get his way.

"No, no, your right, we cant have you getting into even more sh** than you already are in. Tho, ide like to say im glad i met you." Chiara handed the boy back his shoe. Then she leaned in close, to whisper in the boy's ear. "Kursha has allies, you might need some too. Keep me in mind okay?" Chiara winked at Leeroi, and stepped back. "You and your lusus have a lovely day at the festival." The troll said as she walked away to continue her activities. See? Chiara could be pleasant.

Her encounter with Leeroi still fresh in her mind. It was probably a good thing she had gotten rid of the shoe, it had smelled rather bad. When Chiara had finished her cakes, and taken a test bite she was surprised to find that they were excellent, even while she was not paying attention at all. She really needed to fire her cupcake chef, or better yet, burn down the girl's hive.

Chiara really hoped that one young purpleblood was going to eat the soup, it would be lovely to see the girl in pain for how snotty she was. Chiara made a mental note to get revenge for the purpleblood's rude behavior later while she picked out some gross slimy thing to add to the pot.
