"Sure you can," Ike said, "You can fly, right? Big flying, flashing you. That's cool." He looked down at Reid once more and shook his head.
"Naw, you don't hurt me. Glowing is different than sunlight, I think." He wasn't sure if that made any difference whatsoever, but it made sense to him, and he certainly didn't want Reid thinking he was causing him pain.

"...that sounds more like the description of a blimp than anything," Reid said after a moment of consideration and snickered at the mental image of himself as a blimp.
He smiled in relief, glad he hadn't accidently been hurting Ike all this time. "I'm glad for that then."

"Hey, blimps are awesome," Ike waggled his finger jokingly, "and you wouldn't explode or deflate." He whistled softly, and then made an exaggerated explosion sound. He then reached down and smoothed Reid's hair down for no other reason than it was there.

Reid shuddered, covering his face with two fo his hands, "uggggghhhh, good point, horrible mental image."
He peeked through his fingers at the hair smooth and stuck out his tounge when his antennae were brushed.

"Ah gawd, Reid!" Ike laughed slightly. That...yeah. That mental image wasn't so very pleasant. He then cocked his head to one side, noting Reid's tongue.
"Sorry?" he said and pulled his hand away.

Reid blinked, realizing that Ike hadn't done it to get him to twitch, like his siblings tended to do. He gestured to his antennae, "you just got the these is all. My siblings do it when I'm dozing to see me twitch and wake me up. Its like..." he leant up and ran his fingers over the length of one of Ike's ears. "You're doing that."

Ike trembled and closed his eyes for a moment. That'd felt rather strange, and now his skin was tingling.
"Don't do that," he cringed, "but I get what you mean."
Sensitive eyes, sensitive ears...sometimes it sucked being a squirrel.

Reid nodded, "sorry," which was almost too bad, Ike's ears had turned out to be really, really soft. He flopped back onto Ike's chest and buried his head in his friend's collar instead.
"Floofysoftpillow," he muttered with a small laugh.

"Yersh," Ike snickered, "Floofy pillow."
The boy's eyes abruptly crossed as he tried to see whatever it was that had just fallen between them. Then another tiny wet thing landed in his ear...on his hand...
"It's raining," he said, immediately before the skys let loose.

Reid looked up as they were drenched and sat up, tilting his head so that the rain could fall more easily on it.
"Mmmm..." he looked at Ike and tilted his head, "should we seek cover?"

Ike slowly got up to all fours and flipped his tail up over his head.
"I'll smell like wet dog," he said, "Let's go back inside. I think there's a little lippy-thing on the balcony."

"'Kay," nodding Reid stood up, stretching a bit before falling into step with Ike as they headed back towards the HQ.

Back up on the balcony, Ike was relieved to see a small overhang and laid down beneath it and a nearby chair, just out of the way of the rain.
Well, this wasn't too bad.

Reid took a seat on the ground next to Ike, curling his knees up to his chest and resting his chin on their crook. He smiled and shut his eyes, listening to the rain.

"I can't believe you didn't tell me or Crow about him, Len."
Lenore winced and glanced at Julian's stern expression over her shoulder. She feigned a cool shrug and kept walking down towards the forest's edge, bag of raw meats in hand.
"Well... you guys never asked," she offered lamely.
Julian snorted and shook his head.
"Yeah. Very valid excuse, Len." he said dryly, pulling the hood down further over his face as a gust of wind threatened to knock it away. The days lately had an unseasonable chill, rain coming down by turn as mist, drizzle, or biblical downpour. Today wasn't so bad - light enough to go outside, at least. Zipping up his hoodie up to his chin and yanking down the hood again mechanically, Julian winced as his hands brushed up against still-healing scratches on his cheek.
Len glanced at him again sidelong again.
"You're never gonna tell us why you do that, are you?"
"Nope."
"Just checking." Len turned and waved Ethan over impatiently as he ran over the grounds, trying to catch up. He was laden with two more bags. "Hurry up! I haven't fed him in like forever."
Ethan caught up at last and pushed a blood-dripping bag into Julian's hands, ignoring disgusted protests.
"Sorry. Twenty pounds of meat is hard to sneak past Crow," Ethan sputtered, looking annoyed. Len merely shrugged and turned to face the forest.
"Hope he isn't mad at me."
