"Then why do I always hear noises in my closet?" he asked, pursing his lips. Daniel then made a small noise and leaned back on his shoulder, snuggling into his neck. "I tried to tell Mama, and he said that he'd fix it, but you've both been so busy lately, he must've forgot."

The little boy nodded, yawning with a tiny squeak. "Okay, Daddy," he mumbled, eyes drooping closed as one small fist came up to his mouth. "Drop Mama in the bath first, though. He smells like wine."

Just then, the shower could be heard starting, the slender, short pop star gone from his position on the bed, along with a t-shirt that was too big to be his.

"Nighty-night, Daddy," he whispered back, curling into a ball under the thick covers and sucking on his thumb as he fell asleep.

Ellery jumped at the noise, then looked around the shower curtain and pouted at Fredrich. "Close the door, will you? It's freezing." The songwriter ducked back behind the curtain, washing the conditioner from his hair. "How's Daniel? I can't remember anything after Liam biting me."

"Clue? I forgot we had that," chuckled Ellery, wiping off the suds from his smooth legs. "God, that kid. He's going to end up smarter than both of us." Turning off the water, Ellery pulled a towel off the rack and curled it around himself, pushing the curtain back and stepping out. His wet hair looked darker than usual, framing those emerald green eyes almost perfectly, his slender, pale body well contrasted against the dark blue towel. He raised a hand to push his hair from his eyes, then walked over to the sink to rub vanilla lotion on his arms and legs. "He certainly adores you, Fredrich."

"And possibly grow to be just like you," thought Ellery aloud, reaching for the shirt and unfolding it. "Daniel would do anything for you, that much is clear, and would even become an assassin if you asked him to. Of course, he still doesn't know that you're the Nightingale. Are we ever going to tell him?" The songwriter let the towel drop as he pulled on the shirt, and just for a split-second, his naked body could be seen, smooth and hairless and pale as the moon. Once the shirt was on, he grabbed his boxer-briefs and tugged them on, stopping to look into the mirror and brush his hair down.

"Ack!" Ellery was shocked to find himself held by the throat against the wall, hands gripping Fredrich's strong one and tears filling his eyes as the pain in his back, head, and neck began to spread. "I-it's not ac-accusing... if i-it's true!" he managed to force out, closing his eyes and gagging while trying to force air into his lungs. "Liam... Liam t-talked... called you i-it... I'm n-not an... an id-idiot, Waltz!" He spat out Fredrich's last name, opening his eyes to reveal anger, pain, and... was that betrayal?

Ellery coughed as he fell to the ground, bringing both his hands to his neck and holding it as he tried to breathe. That was when he felt the cold metal come close to his skin, and he froze, looking up at Fredrich. He said not a word while the detective spoke, staying on the ground until Fredrich started out the door. "You don't frighten me," he called hoarsely, shakily standing to his feet. "And you and that orange-eating freak you love so much can burn in Hell for all I care!" With his final yell, Ellery shut the door and locked it, leaning against it as he slid down to the ground, wrapping his arms around his legs and staring at the wall. Tomorrow he was supposed to leave for the concert. He wasn't coming back.

The next morning, when Fredrich awoke, his son wouldn't be in his arms. There were hangers still in Daniel's closet, most with the clothes on them, but still there. Ellery's suitcase lay where it had been the night before, still int he corner of the room Daniel had decided to take as his own. A few outfits were gone, like with Daniel's clothes. The mess in the kitchen was clean, and it looked spotless, all shampoo, conditioner, and soap bottles that weren't Fredrich's were gone from the bathrooms. In fact, the only room that showed whether or not anyone other than Fredrich had been there was Daniel's room, with Daniel's toys on the ground, the Clue game still on the table, clothes in the closet, and one of Ellery's shirts stuffed under the pillow that the little boy cuddled when he missed him. Well, that, and a note taped onto the front door that simply read "Goodbye" in Ellery's loopy, pretty script. They were gone. Fredrich had finally gotten rid of the things he'd been forced into having.
