Váli moved through the undergrowth without making a sound, a piece of frost-covered twilight moving through the soft greens and gentle browns. This land was still deep enough in winter that there was more of the latter than the former, and most of the former was evergreens or the occasional hearty shrub. Váli disliked winter personally, though here in this forest it was easier to forget. There was no snow, and any frost that appeared vanished quickly in the light of the morning sun. He breathed deeply, tasting the smell of pine, old leaves, damp earth, all sharper in the chill air. Spring was still a ways off, but at least here the winter felt like a mild one.
He was hoping to stumble upon a shelter for the night. Populations were denser and villages and towns far closer together than he remembered them being, but there wouldn't be one within striking range tonight. He hoped he could find a good place near a water source before the sun went down. It was still high in the sky at the moment, but who knew how close the nearest spring or stream might be.
Smooth rock suddenly surfaced from the loamy earth, and the undergrowth grew thicker. Váli stopped and peered at the stone beneath his paws. It looked worn smooth, and appeared to be the remains of an old trail. He examined the undergrowth. It grew especially wild like that when it had been cleared away, then allowed to regrow. He pushed forward, curious. Suddenly the growth stopped and he found himself in what must have once been a clearing. It still was, but small trees had begun to grow and vines and plants were tangled everywhere. In the center of the clearing stood a wreckage of buildings, old bits of stone that had begun to crumble away. Váli moved forwardly slowly and with caution, wondering what this place had once been. As he looked and wondered, deep in his chest he felt his heart clench with sorrow. How sad, this remnant of what once was.
Ethan had found himself, hours ago, too stressed by life to bear it any longer. Not by fault of any one person, but by fault of his own insecurities and anxieties. Unfortunately this eventually led the young halfbreed to run away from the complex he called home. He ran straight, turning only when he found an obstacle, sometimes leaping over said obstacles in a way that no half-hoofed creature could. Parkour was good for something, he would later muse. It was chilly, not nearly cold enough to freeze him, but after a while, he had found himself taking up residence in an old, dilapidated village. One of the buildings looked far sturdier than the others, and this was where he had taken a rest. A rest that turned into a long, deep sleep curled up to conserve body heat. After a while, he woke. The bag he had the sense to take with him had only a few cans of food- baked beans and some kind of soup- alongside his art utensils. Nothing to make a fire with to take the edge off the chill. Thankful that genetics had blessed him with fluffier than usual fur, Ethan spent his time drawing. Sketching what parts of the village he could see from the window of his chosen building as if they were like new, using his imagination and the worn designs on the buildings themselves. He had spent nearly an entire day like this, and only when his ears picked up movement did he stop. His arting tools lay nearly forgotten as he peered through the window, hoping that he hadn't gotten himself in trouble. Without his glasses however- those he had forgotten to put in his bag- all he could see was a shadow moving around. Friend or foe, he didn't know and he wasn't about to find out willingly.
Váli froze, his ears facing forward intently as he slowly looked around. He felt a chill along his spine as though the frost patterns there had frozen and the back of his neck prickled. He was being watch. He drew in another deep breath of air, trying to be as silent as possible. There was the scent of the forest and the cold smell of old stone and the plants that grew over their surface. For once that green smell overpowered the scent of evergreens. He thought he could pick up the faint musk of some kind of animal, but this was the middle of a forest. No doubt animals sometimes took shelter in these ruins, especially if they were even half as old as they looked.
Váli carefully crept to the side, picking a tumble of stone that might have once been part of a fence. It could have even been walls at a time for all he knew, but now they were just a crumbling L shape about three feet high. He didn't get a hostile feeling from what was watching him, but it never hurt to be careful. "Who's there," he called out. It was not a shout, but he projected it in a way that anything around here would hear it. He waited for an answer, completely still and not even a single fur moved.
At the voice, Ethan relaxed ever so slightly. It definitely was not a creature who would want to eat him if it wanted to be so loud...right? It never hurt him to be cautious, and taking ahold of all of his courage, he started to slowly, cautiously exit the building.
As quiet as he could be with his paws, his hooves still made a bit of noise. Anyone hearing them would thing some bipedal hoofed creature was walking about instead of a..well, he was no normal fox. All the same, he kept himself low and ready to sprint back into the building if he needed to. His pencils were sharp enough to be used as weapons on multiple occasions back when he faced abusers in school, they would be good enough now. "H-hello...?" Ethan's voice was a meek whisper, and it would be a miracle if it was heard.
Váli's ears instantly swiveled to catch a new sound. Hooves? The sound was regular, if slow. Something walking, not startled or stumbling. He listened harder. It sounded like only two hooves. What around here could walk on two legs and possess hooves. Nothing -- this blood ran cold at the thought -- from the physical world. A glimmer of his old rage flashed back to the surface before he quickly clamped it down. There were no fauns or satyrs in the employ of the Snow Queen, only four-legged hoofed creatures. As distasteful as he found fae folk, it was no reason to instantly show hostility towards one. If that was what it was. He fancied he heard a gentle, muted sound, like paw pads against stone. He wasn't sure though; if it wasn't his imagination, whatever was on padded paws was very, /very/ quiet.
'H-hello...?' Váli's head turned in the same direction as his ears. Cautiously he lifted his head over the stone wall. The creature stood out instantly against the grays and muted greens, though in the forest itself Váli was sure he would have blended in excellently with those browns. Even blue wasn't too much of a liability, as he well knew, though with a blue that bright you had to be clever about how you hide it. Not fae, of that he was fairly certain. His attention was caught by the pair of horns nested in the black hair crowning the male's head. They weren't long, but they looked sharp and more than up to doing damage. He didn't think the other meant him harm, but opted for caution.
"Who goes," he asked in commanding tones, though gentling his voice so as not to seem aggressive. "Are you friend or foe, and why do you lurk in this place of crumbling stone?"
Ethan's large ears pinned back as he was addressed, and his tail shot down between his legs. He couldn't see this guy clearly, and his tone of voice, while not anything to be afraid of, still caused him to assume a submissive stance. Of course, here, of all places he would be found. At least authorities hadn't been sent after him, he would already be carted off if this guy were specifically after him. Taking a deep steadying breath, Ethan bowed his head politely. Alwyas better to make a good first impression than a bad one. "E-Ethan. Ethan Sedaleck. I go b-by Sprite, a lot..." A nickname given to him by a friend who was far too enthralled by his halfbreed features. "I wasn't lurking I--" Was spending the night after running away from home. Yeah, that would go over really well. "...Was...Studying this place and...Drawing it. Having some quiet time. I...I didn't know there was anyone else here..." Come to think of it, there wasn't anyone here when he got here, right? So why was this guy asking the questions?! He was the one stalking around! "I'm not going to hurt-- I'm not a foe!" ...Well there went any chance of being the one in charge, way to go, Ethan.
Váli turned over the words spoken by the one who called himself Ethan, analyzing the words themselves and the tone they were spoken in. It didn't sound like a lie, but if he was a professional than it wouldn't. He sighed quietly. Well, he hadn't see anything that hinted anyone lived here, let alone a large group. Even if there were a couple others around and Ethan /was/ lying, he was sure he could always escape. Those hooves didn't look like they'd be any good for climbing up things, something which Váli had gained great proficiency in even before...
He shoved that memory firmly away and, slowly but without hesitation, stepped out from behind his wall. His bright orange eyes raked curiously over the stranger. If he was an actor he would have to be a very good one indeed. It was hard to fake submission if you didn't really feel it. He stood there in silence for a long moment, just watching, before finally he spoke. "My name is Váli. I have no other name." He glanced at the weathered, moss-covered stone next to him, then back at Ethan. "I wandered upon this place in my travels. I was hoping to find shelter for the night."
Swallowing thickly, Ethan stood his ground as the guy- Váli- came into his view a bit better. He was still horribly blurry, details lost, but he looked..well, not like a monster that was going to kill him. and that was enough for Ethan to relax and offer a smile. "I-- Well, I sort of wandered here too. Spent the night and woke up pretty warm and dry, so I think you came to the right place." Looking over his shoulder, he chuckled softly, mostly to himself. "Though, almost all these buildings look like if you touch them the wrong way, they'd fall. there's a few that look sturdy though, if you want me to point them out." Poor as his vision was, Ethan did have an eye for strong architecture even if it was a bit blurry. "And, if you're hungry, I have some food with me...?" Hopefully he was doing this 'interaction' thing right, his last attempt had gone horribly..
Váli looked around again, feeling an odd kinship with the old rocks. What had the place been....before? Had it even existed then? If so it would have to have been a very sturdy place to even leave traces such as these behind. His home...
"I would like to see all the buildings for myself, but if you would be willing to point out the ones you've noted being the most sturdy I would gladly accept your help." He took a few cautious steps forward, the tip of his tail twitching every so slightly as he hesitated. The offer of food was a welcome one for there was always less to be had in the winter, but... "If you are sure it is not inconveniencing you I would also accept your offer of food," Váli said, voice a lot softer now but still deep and easily heard. "I do not wish to impose, however. I can provide for myself well enough, if things are lean for you. I've had to make do before, so it would be no hardship for me."
Up closer he noted something curious about Ethan. He seemed to squint. Not obviously so, but just enough that Váli sensed something was off. Could the male see him? He was following Váli with his eyes, so perhaps his sight was just bad? That seemed all the more reason that Váli not impose and take food that Ethan might not have to share.
Slowly but surely ridding himself of the stress that came with meeting someone new, Ethan lost his submissive pose- for the most part-, and stood straight up. Even his normally-between-his-legs tail was uncurled, and hanging straight down limply. He wasn't quite comfortable, but he was getting there. Even his ears had perked up to better listen to Váli. "I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want to be around to hear a building fall down on top of you man. And I have enough food. " To last him another day or two. "But...I just don't have any fire to warm it up with, so it's just...cold beans and soup. I think it's chicken noodle..." Trailing off, Ethan furrowed his brows in thought. What WAS that soup? Was it even soup? The can didn't have a label so for all he knew it was just more beans! "...Actually, I'll just call it a 'surprise' feast." Without waiting, he turned to head back into his chosen building, trotting in a graceful manner unbefitting his dual-species feet. Hooves clip-clopped while his paws made hardly any sound at all. He clearly expected Váli to follow, and as soon as he entered his shelter, he hurried to put away his art supplies. Only the few cans would stay out of his bag for now. "C'mon in, it's not like I own the place, you know?"
Váli hesitated briefly, then followed after Ethan with a slow, but no less graceful, pace, far quieter without hooves to make noise. "If fire is all you are lacking, I can easily fix that," he offered in a quiet voice, one he typically used for conversations. He knew a couple different ways to start fire, though he rarely had to make use of them since his own fur provided sufficient warmth and he had no problem eating his food raw. It was just the things that required cooking to be edible that he bothered to make a fire for, but if Ethan preferred warm food it seemed like a good turn he could do in thanks for his offers.
He paused in the doorway of the ruin Ethan had claimed for his home, nose twitching at the scent of the art supplies. He had seen things like them and the canned foods before, but he remembered the first time he went into a town how horribly confused and bewildered he had been by all the changes! A drawing caught his eye. "What is that," Váli asked, using his head to point at the picture of the village drawn as it might have been when whole.
Ethan had zoned out. For a few moments, he was lost to the world as he eyed the cans, as if he were hoping that he would suddenly develop X-Ray vision to be able to see what was inside. Intense staring was doing nothing, so, he picked one of the un-labeled cans up, and rapped against it gently with a claw. Well, that wouldn't help either. So, he would definitely have to be surprised by the contents of at least three cans. the other two were clearly labeled 'black beans'. Hoo boy, how he really didn't want to eat those while in the presence of someone else...
Jolted back to reality, Ethan cursed inwardly. Pickup had been sloppy and his art supplies weren't fully covered. Oh well. Shrugging, he trotted over to pick up the sketchbook, smoothing the current canvas out with a smile. "It's...just my imagination, mostly. But, I figured I would try and illustrate what this place looked like in the past." Jerking his head towards the window, he chuckled. "I might be half-blind, but these buildings have enough detail for me to guess at what could have been..." Pointing to one of the drawn buildings, then outside-- "This one over there might have been a place of worship, if the lingering gold decor is anything to go by, and the one next to it could have been some kind of stable..."
Váli glanced at the drawing again, then looked at the ruins surrounding them. "Likely, as far as that being an old temple," he said, slowly scanning the area. It was hard to tell how big the ruins were, and just where they were exactly located in them. "Most villages had the place of worship and village meeting hall, if they had either of those, in the center of town. Shops and houses would have been around those. Craft folk might have lived towards the edge of the village, since their crafts needed more space, tend to be noisy, and sometimes had....interesting smells accompanying them. Almost all villages are laid out in such a way, with a very variances. Of course there's always the handful of unusual ones that do things differently. This could have been one of those."
He reached up and lightly brushed against a small pouch made of animal skin and woven plant fibers, tied to his collar and partially hidden by the chopstick hanging from it. A cool, hard surface beneath the leather met his fingers. "It is certainly an interesting drawing. Art was never a skill I was good at. I tend to excel more in physical things." He glanced around, wondering if there was any dry moss around here he could gather. "/Would/ you like a fire? They're difficult to start from nothing, but I know how do to that. It's been dry enough here that fuel shouldn't be too hard to find."
Listening intently, Ethan slowly put the sketchbook away, careful not to ruin the picture since he /had/ just worked quite a bit on it. Váli's words made quite a bit of sense, and he made many, many mental notes. He planned to expand on his drawing, with interior views and the like. Of course, this meant he would be exploring the ruins thoroughly in the coming days. That is, if he weren't caught before then and dragged back home. Ech.
Again, he zoned out, and again he was brought back to reality by the question. A fire would mean warmth and a way to heat the food! Almost too excitedly, he nodded. "Fire would help, I've been sort of chilly...but, erm, as for fuel..." He frowned, puzzling over this. He hadn't seen any plantlife that was dry; everything here seemed to be thriving. All the moss was still green and he was sure the tree branches would be too wet. What else could they--
With a bit of a heavy sigh (and a heavier heart), Ethan pulled his sketchbook back out, flipping past his drawing, and five blank pages. Beyond that, he began ripping the pages out, crumpling them up. "I think these will work, to get things started. Maybe there's some dried-up vines on some of these buildings...?"
Váli stared at Ethan with an emotion very much like horror when the other began pulling out paper from his book and crumpling the paper up. Before he could get more than three pages Váli had moved forward and actually put his paws over Ethan's to stop him from tearing more out. "Don't waste that! Just wait here, I'll be back in a bit." He removed his paws and turned, ghosting out of the building and through the ruins, back into the forest. Who just wasted paper like that, especially artists? Of course there was supposedly a lot more paper around nowadays; it wasn't a luxury item for the rich like it used to be. Still old habits died hard, and Váli couldn't stand seeing such waste!
It took him half a candlemark (hour, he had to remember to think in modern terms) before he was satisfied with his haul, making several trips in the forest and leaving what he found in heaps at the edge of the ruins. He could move the wood itself to the shelter later, or wherever they built the fire, but for now as long as it had saved time to leave it just past the thick undergrowth. There was plenty of dead-fall on the ground, a lot of decent-sized sticks and even a couple small "logs" that probably came from felled tree limbs. It was a little damp on the outside, but once he got the small stuff going he could arrange the larger logs on the outside of the fire to dry before adding them in. He gathered up a couple larger sticks, a lot of tiny ones, and some pine cones and other plant debris, then headed for the ruin Ethan was living in, having to move a lot slower so as not to drop his burden.

*sits on hands to refrain from running off and hugging the poor guy* hmm yugi might work for him. I have what he's pretty much going to look like as an adult although most of my singles left are pretty strong magic users [6/7/2015 11:25:45 PM] Jinx: He doesn't hate magic users. His feelings towards them are a bit complicated, more of a wariness. As a warrior he's always relied on his own strength, and even though he has magic himself he's never relied on it. It bothers him to see people who do rely on their powers. To his mind, magic is unfair. Whose who are not born with it have little defense against those who do, if they decide to use their power to conquer. Even with good intentions, a magic-user can much up someone's life when they should have just left it alone. They have great power that they don't have to particularly work hard to get, so they can't relate to people who /have/ worked, tooth and nail, for what they have.
The reason everything is muddled instead of clear dislike is because he knows his attitude is unfair, that not all power comes easily and in fact can be a burden. That not all people are able to be anything they want; just like he wasn't made to be a magician, so a magician might not have what it takes to be a warrior. [6/7/2015 11:26:34 PM] Jinx: So if he encountered a magic-user his attitude is a bit stand-offish, but polite. How things progress from there depends on the magic-user in question [6/7/2015 11:27:43 PM] Jinx: His past love, as a priestess, did have power, but it was more bent towards spiritual and mystical things rather than actual power. But it means that he can love someone who uses magic. [6/7/2015 11:30:06 PM] Jinx: Actually, given Yugi's power, and depending on how he uses it and how often, it might actually be an advantage that gets Vali to open up to him about his past. he probably tries not to use it too often because it is a very destructive power although he does tend to use it to try to help people and drain off his magic especially if he knows there is going to be a storm, or he'll use his powers to start a storm if some one needs rain. *goes to find where she stuck adult Yugi* -rolls Yugi and Vali around in her mind a bit- If you want to go with a reincarnation route we could always say he holds the same soul and Vali's past lover, but that's mostly for feels and an indulgence in Muse's love of a dramatic love story rather than something I demand. Yugi's personality in general makes me think that Vali would find his soul similar to his lost love and that would be enough to soften him to Yugi, and as things get serious he comes to accept Yugi for himself rather than for the resemblance that initially drew him in. With the reincarnation route it would be his soul recognizing the familiar soul, the question of whether or not Yugi's soul recognized Vali, and Vali learning to love who Yugi is now rather than who he used to be.
I'm thinking how they first meet would have something to do with Yugi's interest in old cultures. The only place I can think of off the top of my head would be a library, since Vali is trying to catch up on some of the history that he missed and isn't comfortable using computers or any sort of technology. Maybe Yugi spots him reading a book on some culture or another and that's how a conversation gets started. Or he could even appear in Yun's shop while Yugi is there and specially request tea made a certain way and Yugi might recognize the description as particular to a certain culture and start up a conversation that way. Either way once they first start chatting Vali wouldn't be opposed to answering questions, though he won't say how he knows so much and with such certainty. [6/8/2015 12:16:37 AM] Nasai: hmmm I have no problems doing the reincarnation route XD there are enough weird members in the indra family its very much possible XD although I think yugi would probably only get like vague feelings of like deja vu than really full rememberance. I can also see like a combination of both since Yugi is a bit shy. Them first meeting at the library but yugi cant manage to convince himself to talk to Vali because he doesnt want to intrude but his curiosity wins over at the cafe when Vali orders the tea -more Yugi and Vali rolling- lol And that's pretty much fine. He doesn't have to have any memories crop up, just that deja vu that comes with one soul remembering another from another time. If we do want memories to crop up they can be flesh ones maybe, similar to really strong deja vu. Vali would probably not immediately recognize the same soul, or actually he would but he wouldn't acknowledge it, thinking what he's feeling is just that Yugi reminds him of his past love in some ways and that's all it is. He doesn't really have any hope that he /could/ run into that same soul. I think he would find Yugi charming in his way, how he can be shy, his interest and his questions, his dislike of violence, and even that bits of temper that show up now and then. He would likely tell himself his interest and liking of Yugi is all platonic, subconsciously protecting himself from the kind of heartache he's already once experienced. And that's about where Yugi's powers come into play. He already doesn't use them much, and I would assume that knowing Vali isn't entirely comfortable around magic he would be circumspect with it around Vali, but one day he's forced to use it in a dangerous way. Maybe to save something that would have been hit by it, either something like a tree that might explode and hurt nearby people or Vali himself. I don't know what it would take to overload him a bit or injure him, if it's at all possible, but at the least I think it should be flashy enough that it seems like harm could have been done to him. That would be the point when Vali can't lie to himself anymore, when he becomes afraid that he could have lost Yugi. How he actually reacts is going to depend on how you think Yugi would feel about him at this point, and to keep Yami from murdering me I'll let you guess how Yugi would feel before I say anything XD yeah Yugi would try to keep his powers on the low, because he definitely doesnt want to make his friend uncomfortable and he could possible overload especially if he tried to use his poweres during a thunderstorm because there would just be too much energy for him to handle. Especially if he hasnt added his magic already to the storm and he's worried about because its just all that natural energy. Yugi would probably have a crush by then although he'd be too shy to actually say anything but any one that knew him well enough could probaly spot it (so no nessicarly homicidal yugi XD) [6/8/2015 12:51:52 AM] Nasai: and *rolls off to think on the other couple XD* [6/8/2015 1:02:13 AM] Jinx: XD Well Vali's response could go a number of ways, depending on which appeals to you more. Like if Yugi fainted from the overload he could either carry Yugi home or if it was just a temporary faint he'd wake up either in Vali's arms or with Vali leaning over him and looking like the worst combination of afraid and grief-stricken. If it passes through without doing much harm and Yugi's still on his feet and fine Vali could either come over, worried, then as soon as it's clear Yugi's unharmed quickly retreated, of if it's clear just by looking that he'd unharmed he would give Yugi a look and retreat. In all the cases you'd see emotion distress and conflict on his face. In the cases of him carrying Yugi home or Yugi waking up with Vali leaning over him to make sure he's okay, he would probably tenderly caress Yugi's face and kiss him before fleeing, unable to face his emotional state and the reality of his feelings at that moment. And again, what happens next depends on which scenario we go with and how Yugi reacts to Vali after that and what he decides to do about it. [6/8/2015 1:02:28 AM] Jinx: (( -hides from Yami, just in case- )) Hmm we could definitely have him pass out although to save him from certain parents *coughs* Yugi should probably wake up in his arms and then be all apologetic because ugh he caused his friend to worry of course he'd be cut off when Vali kissed him. He'd probably go all tomato red and try to reach out for Vali when the other fleed. He'd be hurt at first because "You kissed me and ran way" and then that temper would spark and it would be all "you kissed me, and then you dare run away" and then try to find Vali again to ask just what that was about Yugi & Vali - -rolls around the picture Muse is trying to paint- So Yugi handles some power a bit too much for him, probably in a way that looks even more ostentatious that it is given what his power is connected to, and gives Vali a miniature heart attack combined with a serious eye opener. Yugi passes out from all the power that went through him. Vali runs up, ascertains that Yugi is alive, and picks Yugi up thinking to get him home so his family might be able to help. Partway there Yugi comes to. He gets embarrassed and insists that Vali can put him down, that he's fine. Vali would be reluctant, but if Yugi insists (I'm assuming the thought of him being brought home, carried like a bride, would be all the fuel he needs) Vali would set him down and keep an arm on him for support in case Yugi falls. I'm assuming Yugi would be a bit wobbly, but fine. He would then apologize, something about how he didn't mean to trouble Vali like that. Already wound a bit tight, Yugi treating what happened like no big deal would be his snapping point and Vali would cup his face in his hands and kiss him (probably interrupting Yugi mid-sentence). It would be very intense, but short. Vali would release Yugi then quickly vanish. Assuming Yugi would even have the presence of mind to following Vali before he vanishes from sight, his legs would be too wobbly to carry him at the speeds needed. I'm assuming after Yugi gets to the temper stage of things it would linger for a bit and either the next day or sometime that week he would go out looking for Vali when it's clear Vali isn't going to show back up. Vali wouldn't be in any of the immediately obvious places he's known to haunt. I'm not sure how Yugi's emotions would go from there, given a few days to process things and being unable to find Vali. I think that, since you like the idea of reincarnation, after nothing pans out and Vali can't be found that Yugi takes a moment to sit and think about what he knows of Vali and tries to guess where he could be. Then he gets either vague feelings or even feels a slight pull, and follows this and is able to find Vali in a wild area, just sitting there, not showing much in his expression but with eyes that are weary and sad. I need Yugi's input to continue the story as for Yugi and Vali, Yugi would at first get a bit more pissed but then he would get worried even if he knows that Vali can take care of himself. so he'd be a mess because ugh friend just dumped me there and fled but oh no what if our friendship is shot to hell and... Yeah lots of round about emotions. of course when he did find Vali temper would probably disappear with the expression on his face. He struggle with wanting to hug Vali and try to wipe that expression off his face but he'd probably stand there and ask why Vali would kiss him if it was just going to make him upset to this degree? That question would actually managed to shake Vali enough that he might laugh, albeit the quiet, short kind of laugh, and would ask if he really wanted to know, then he would grow silent again, brooding a little. Whether Yugi responds or just waits he would still sit in silence for a bit. Then he would launch into the little history I have written in my journal, like he was telling a tale. Where the tale ends in my journal, he would add on, "Strange was the once familiar land, stranger still the people and their huge villages, known now as cities. For a time the warrior could not bear to approach them, so loud and strange were they, but as he wandered he found that these cities were numerous and he knew he could not avoid them forever. He decided that the next city he came upon he must enter, and learn. After three days of travel he came out of the forest and saw the now familiar sight of tall buildings against the sky. He traveled to the edge, gathered his courage, and entered. He had to return to the forest often for food, but he continued to return to the city so that he might learn of this new world. Then one he discovered a most wondrous place, a building so large the entirely of his old village could have fit inside with room to spare, filled with books free for the reading to any who possessed the skill. The warrior returned to this place often. And thus, slowly, the warrior rejoined the passage of time. He explored more of the city, but still loved best the place of books. It was a quiet and peaceful place. Then one day, a youth approached the warrior." Vali looked up at Yugi and gave him a tired smile. "His eyes lit on the book before the warrior, but when he looked up the youth fled. Later that day, when the warrior left the place of books he went to a shop that sold tea. To his surprise the same youth was also in the shop. He saw what the warrior drank, and it seemed this time his curiosity was not to be set aside. He asked the warrior many questions and the warrior answered as best he could. A curious friendship grew that day." Now Vali dared not look at Yugi, half-afraid to see his reaction. Would he even believe such a tale? But he was not finished, and he even though he was afraid to continue he could not stop now. He owed Yugi the entire truth. "For the first time since leaving the Snow Queen, the warrior was happy. His heart and soul drank in the company the youth gave him like the parched earth drinks in the rain. He had not realized how lonely he had been until the ache was gone. He felt whole in a way he had not been in a long time. The warrior did not stop to think what this might mean. He told himself he was simply glad to have a friend, glad to be able to speak of the times he remembered, even if he spoke of them only as if they came from the pages of a book." Vali's face darkened slightly. "Fate would not let the warrior cling to ignorance though. The youth was a user of magic, and the day came that he was forced to wield his powers in a way that it seemed for a moment like he would be killed. In that moment the warrior's mind acknowledged what his heart and soul had known all along, what it had tried to protect itself from, so to lose so much again would have surely broken him beyond repair." Vali hesitated. He didn't know if he should tell the whole truth here now. Would Yugi even believe that the reason Vali had fallen in love so swiftly was because his soul had recognized its true beloved? [6/8/2015 3:37:28 AM] Jinx: (( I hope you enjoyed that lovely wall of text XD )) yugi would nod to show that he does want to know and sit down in front of Vali patiently waiting for him to explain his tale. [6/8/2015 4:18:40 AM] Nasai: and enter is evil OTL anyways he'd sit down patiently waiting for him to explain his tale and probably get rather unnaturally angry when Vali explained what the woman had done to him. There probably wouldnt be any doubt or skepticisim in his eyes either as he listened to the tale when Vali hesitates Yugi will ask why and wonder if Vali thinks that yugi doesnt believe what he's saying which is a silly notion because the impossible and unlikely happens every day in Yugi's family and then he'll pause and look to the side briefly before asking and what does Vali's heart and soul recognize? [6/8/2015 4:58:32 AM] Jinx: Vali would likely shake his head a little, and say that it wasn't important. He'd be afraid that Yugi would be hurt if he compared him against the woman he loved so long ago. If Yugi insisted Vali would probably answer in a round-about way, reaching out and taking Yugi's hand and softly kissing the back, like he used to do with his beloved, and whether or not his soul recognized that touch then at least hoping the gesture was answer enough. (it was sooo much nicer before but this is vaguely what I remembered I wrote) Yugi would look down at his hand with kind of a sad look and shake his head obviously feeling that déjà vu. He might look like he wants to say something but will just turn his head as if thinking about something and nod. He’d then probably turn around and say that He didn’t mind the kiss from earlier, it was actually pretty nice although if Vali just dumps him and runs away again… they might have a couple issues. So Muse is apparently in perv mode right now... She says Vali would look into Yugi's eyes as though intently searching for something. Then he would smile, face relaxing and eyes warming, and say, "Understood." This next part is optional, only because it caters to Muse's perv-ness, so whether we make it story or not depends on input from your own muse. Muse says Vali, who is still holding the hand he kissed, would release Yugi's hand to bring his own hand up to gently cup it to Yugi's face, thumb reaching out to trace along his jaw. His eyes would be back to intense as they do their own tracing of Yugi's features before returning back to looking into Yugi's eyes. He would then move his face closer, slowly but deliberately, giving Yugi time to turn away if he wants. If Yugi doesn't move away then Vali would kiss him again. It would start out kind of the opposite of the last kiss; instead of short and intense, it starts off slow and gentle. Less of a burst of emotion, more of a communication of his own feelings while he tries to read Yugi and what Yugi wants. It can either stay a sweet and chaste kiss, or.... Well, that's up to Yugi XD [6/14/2015 9:21:11 PM] Jinx: (( -sighs- And this is why I shouldn't read fanfiction before poking at Muse for ideas, even if they do make her happy and more willing to work. )) [6/14/2015 11:43:34 PM] Nasai: I can work with perv mode XD Yugi would hold his gaze as this goes on, and wait patiently as Vali gets closer his own eyes sparkling with something perhaps a bit mischievous letting Vali kiss him slow and gentle before turning it to something more intense a slightly breathy. When he does finally pull away he’ll smile and cross his arms and probably say something along the lines of "Better", of course he'd pull back just a little bit least he get too worked out while they're in the open and accidently do something silly like make it storm again. [6:18:06 PM] Jinx: lol Likely Yugi might get more deja vu flashes during intimate moments like that. Some things will be purely them, but some will be moments his soul might remember.
Hmmm. Muse just says from here she sees a lot of little couple-y stuffs. They already know each other and are friends, it's just the slow process of becoming more than friends. She says to ask if your Yugi muse things they need another big step to overcome, or if you think that was the main stumbling block. [6:29:12 PM | Edited 6:29:21 PM] Nasai: lol I think they're pretty good hurdle wise. Since Yugi knows that Vali likes him now and Yugi definitely likes Vali. Vali will just have to survive all the family members and their iInterrogations and worse glomping now XD
