The idea that she had come to this tower too soon still plagued her. Would Medea have lead them astray like that? She didn't even know how Thackkun was being held in this place. What if the key (always keys) to his rescue lay in the body of that false king who wore his face?
The knot in her belly twisted more as she realized that she couldn't actually hear anybody else climbing anymore, balling her hand up into a fist as she made the slow ascent, counting the steps in her head.
Sigrún made her way at a brisk pace but made sure to keep her main focus on keeping her footing sure. Last thing she wanted was to take a spill down a flight a stairs...

Very well. If the Voice wanted to take away everything from him, just go on, he won't give up, he won't surrender.
He started to climb the stairs, though he felt something very bad was awaiting him above.

"Erebus?" She wasn't sure if she had actually said his name or something else - in her mind that was what she'd meant, but the sound of her own words fell short of her hearing. Tomoko's hand reached out for a wall, feeling the crevices between stones and the light cracks and taking a deep breath as she continued to climb higher.
It was an illusion. She had to try and convince herself of that. If it was all an illusion, then she'd be able to pick it apart, right? Her hearing would come back..everything would be fine...
"Remi?"she called out for her fellow kitsune as well. Even if they called back for her, however, she wouldn't hear them. Perhaps it was a vain attempt to be making.
She hoped she was getting closer to the top. These stairs seemed endless. She wasn't even sure how far she come.
The Voice rang out again, nearly causing Sun to slip.
"I don't know who you mean by others, but you've certainly had no qualms abut harming us! Perhaps they took offense to that! A True King should not treat his subjects like play toys!" she yelled back. She still couldn't hear herself, but at least it seemed she reached a checkpoint in the Tower.

How many steps had it been now? Moriko looked behind her to see Sig just a little ways back. She gave her friend an encouraging smile before she continued on. Had she heard the voice too?
As she looked forward again she could hear the voice once more. She didn't understand what it wanted from her, didn't understand what was going on. She wasn't the only one climbing these stairs, all she wanted was the truth.

There were others climbing too, all of them decked out in Silver, rushing towards the top.
They wanted answers, revenge, justice. To serve a purpose.
Higher, don't let them know we're coming, higher, tiptoe higher....
She'd begun trying to fill the silence in her head with the memories of sounds, and for some reason that was the song that stuck in her head at that moment. Probably from all of the climbing.
As she placed her foot on the next step she heard The Voice speaking to her. The sudden noise made Sigrún want to clap her hands over her ears. She looked for Momo and made sure she was ok still, she was. However Sig felt a frown creep up onto her face...The Voice was displeased and disappointed. She almost wanted to laugh...join the club. This world had been nothing but chaos and suffering and she wanted to know why.

The Voice rang out again when she reached the top floor, and it was a little surprising to Imryn at how it could make her feel anger after everything else that had gone on. It was the one who had hurt them all and now it was complaining?!? She hoped it got a punch in the face for all of this trouble.
