Lowering his arms and exhailing all at once, he'd tilt his head at Roan.

"Breaking it downand rebuild? You're going to mark me again right? Something a bit more substantial than the last time I imagine..."

He glanced down at his chest as his right hand brushed over the branded scar on his left pectoral. The mark she had given him quite some time ago, back when they were first 'getting to know each other'.

"I'm already blood of your blood. This just gravy, yeah?"

Smirking at her, he wasn't about to let go of that defiant fire in his eye. Something for her to try and extinguish.

A flicker... for a second, the young man and his indolent nature was gone, replaced instead by a taller, much darker image, leaning forwards, the smile knowing and amused, long hair framing a familiar and ethereally beautiful face....

...gone. Just Corbin.

"I have no intention of breaking who you are, or rebuilding such. Only of ensuring an identity you will default to. you are, as you say, blood of my blood. And in time, there will come a reckoning. On that day... I want to be one hundred per cent assured of what you will do."

...because I can't protect you if I dont.

The end of the sentence went unsaid. When you are about to commit bloody torture on someone, sweet sentiments are to be avoided. Just as she had avoided such the night he'd finally woken, leaving the poor kid calling after her as she'd swept out.

.: It IS for his good, over anything of your own. This is still ok. :.

The reassuring consensus in the back of her head caused her to nod once decisively, crush her cigarette butt under a boot heel and NOW move to secure Corbin's wrists. The manacles were not tight. Their intention was not to detain, but instead to take weight. What she had planned would not be comfortable after all.

"Everything is built on dominance and submission. Even the most simple of friendships between sentient beings relies on this simple principle. One takes the lead, the other sacrifices. Even when a consensus is reached, or turns are taken... one fights, the other is the sacrifice.
In the longest run of relationships, the sacrifice no longer even feels pain, and revels in the close relationship, without questioning roles or positions.

And yet we know this to be true. Every sword, best with a shield. Yet how often it is the shield drives the sword, not vice versa.

How do you view yourself as you are now?"

"Right now? I'm a sword. A big ********' berserker's sword. A hammer with nothing to build, just wail on what I like."

Sucking hard on the smokes still between his lips, he'd then spit them out, and exhail as he continued, the defiance in his eye replaced by something more determined, and focused as it narrowed on her.

"I wanna be the wielder instead. No more naked blade, instead the guy that swings it."
PostPosted: Mon May 07, 2012 1:51 pm

Interesting, what exactly out of all her statements he answered to... and that he questioned none of it. Interesting indeed. However...

She moved behind him, lightly lifting the sheet covering the items on the table. It had indeed ensured no speck of dust had alighted on her tools, which gleamed awaiting use. Selecting a large scalpel, she twiddled it between her fingers as her smile spread thinly across her lips.

"Ah, but that... that I will not allow, childe."

Moving in behind him, the knife's first job was to remove uneeded clothing covering his back.

"My blood is your blood. You will become my sword, I'm already your weilder."

There was something in her voice as she spoke the latter, something she herself didn't understand or get. It was like she was watching herself from the outside, and someone else (who also happened to BE herself...) spoke through her.

Selecting a fresh blade from the table without missing a beat while she was thinking, the new and deadly sharp edge was ready to make the first incision - a long, deft stroke across his back like a wave, marking out the first and most important line of the entire artwork.

"We are DeSeer. It means those who see, who perceive truth's others cannot. Turn your vision inwards, my childe, you have something to confront before the name is truly yours."

"And yet when I offered that in your run down ol' pub that wasn't good enough."

Smirking silently, even as she stood behind him with her tool in hand, ready to take to his flesh that defiant fire came back to his eye.

"If I have to be your sword to learn how to handle myself then that's two birds with one great honkin sto-NNnnnn!"

The slash across his back came, and he groaned, gritting histeeth for the second it took to carve out the line. He was accustomed to wounds like this, and knowing it was comeing meant he could stand this much easily enough.

"Something to confront? What you on about?"
PostPosted: Mon May 07, 2012 2:11 pm

"No, it wasn't. You were not mine then, and would not be but for your own stupidity. That has changed."

Her voice was hard and clipped, a second cut following the first, and very close to it. Mimicking the first cut in length and shape, it outlined something more painful to come shortly.

"When you woke, you were screaming at a voice in your head. It was not me. What sleeps within? And will you let it continue to hide from you? You are DeSeer now, its time you started perceiving yourself, and your potential. What were you running from? I have demanded the fealty of demi-gods before now, I have no issues doing so to whatever lives within you, even if it is merely a psychosis of your own devising."

Further, smaller cuts followed the initial two as she spoke, steadying him with a hand on his chest, knowing these strokes to lay otu the masterpiece were the most important.

Groaning again with the following cut, he cocked a brow back at her as she spoke of the inner being he'd have to commune with, unsure just what she meant. Sion annoyed him but she wasn't talking about him.

It was that thing... That voice he sometimes barely heard when he was alone, that monster that existed inside him and gave those benefits with blood. He didn't even know what it was. Whether it was truely sentient, or just something of a reflection of himself. If it was friendly, or taking advantage of him. He'd gained from it so far, but was that just the candy, luring him into some seedy ******** dark van with a soiled mattress in the back?

Roan was right, he had to commune with the beast, and find some answers to these questions. Until he did he could be missing out on some huge chunk of potential, or, the first signs of a massive threat.

Whincing as she began the moredetailed workings, he closed his eye, and tried to focus inwardly as she demanded. Searching for something amiss, or rather, something that had been there all along, hiding within. He however was at a loss for what he was searching for exactly. So, he took a familiar approach. He pictured himself within himself, as he did when he used to speak with Sion, before he started manifesting outwardly. It would take time, with the distraction of Roan working on him, however he'd soon get there, and then, he'd wing it.

"OI! GET yo' slacker a** out the dark you seedy ********! I want some answers, and you gonna give me what I want or so help me, it's Stout and cider till you do, NO blood... Well?!"

It felt like a decade as he tried to maintain his focus till an answer came, especially with Roan still working on his back, though as he waited, mouth opening to throw out another insult the imaginary darkness around him, within him, suddenly grew darker than pitch black it seemed, then felt smothering, till the point it was fluid and all encompassing, holding him firmly within a void, infinite in all concievable directions. About to stir from his meditation, with a jump like homemade buckshot, six eerily glowing scarlet eyes illuminated the void, three eyes lined vertically, parallel to eachother, followed by perfectly ivory enamel in the form of a madly grinning carnivore's jaws.

"Alice... You found the rabbit hole. It's about time."

Those few words bringing a paralytic chill the to fledgling, audible even, barely though around the boy's true body, like a faint mist that hung about him.

.: Well HIS mind just did all kinds of kooky s**t at once... Impulses increased in some areas, ceased in others. :.
.: So he found what I was looking for... good for him. :.

And then she heard it, the slight voice around Corbin and her blood ceased to flow for a second, before she chuckled.
Gently setting the knife she was weilding down, she circled in front of Corbin and gently grasped his jaw with one hand, intending to take a good look at his face, though she avoided eye contact.

"Well well... the Beast shows himself at last... curioser and curioser..."

She wouldn't cut any further while Corbin had this distraction. It would negate the point of her work, not to mention risk ruinign it if she herself was distracted.

With an eye glazed over, Roan wasn't wrong in stopping the work for her reasons. Corbin was no longer responsive to the outside word, only the thickening ocean within. That said, his face was determined, honed and focused with might enough in his body to stay on his own feet, despite the fire gone from his eye.

Struggling against the smothering air around him, the avatar fought within himself trying to lower his chin against the force around him. That which attempted to turn his head away and arch his back to raise him up, and out of this void.

"This is no place for children. Here be monsters, and nothing beneath them. Go home fledgling, I await something suited to me."

And as it had been moments earlier, the voice resonated some how around Corbin's true body, and if Roan focused too closely, it would resonate with her blood flow and echo within her circulatory system just the same as it did her work in hand.

No matter how hard he fought against it, Corbin had already lost that initial line of sight and the image of those six horrific garnet eyes, and was staring up into a shimmering surface. So the void was no longer all expansive. That was the line it seemed. As an unnerving, unknown force continued to push and pull him towards that surface, he knew the limit. No, it was something else...

Gritting his teeth, so sure he'd shatter the enamel, he continued to fight against the pull, and try to pivot his head down to look at the eyes once more.

"On-ly... Monsters?"
"On-ly... Monsters?"

In unison the true form and the avatar spoke. Though the Corbin that Roan held in hand spoke more faintly, as though it were an echo from within, behind clamped jaws.

"Nothing else can survive here. Nothing else can tolerate me. Nothing else will be tolerated."

It was before him like a mirror now that surface rippling with light, and he could see himself in it, but not the eyes below, just the endless darkness. He could feel himself on the brink of passing through and somehow knew that the moment he did, he had lost, and would be expelled from this realm, and his goal.

"Your line has been trialed, and found wanting. No Blazeheart can exist here. None, like Lucas are worth my time."

"I'm... Not..."
"I'm... Not..."

The eyes below narrowed, keen and targeted on the fledgling above, like a lingering Crocodile watching it's prey. Corbin however was already struggling, and with a hairs breadth between his nose and the surface, started to actually lower, shuddering centimeter by centimeter back from the border.

"Only monsters... Can survive here?"
"Only monsters... Can survive here?"

A dark chortle reverberated through the nothingness, and the blood of both Corbin and Roan in resonance if she were too intently focused. As Corbin's chin started to turn down, gradually, ever so slowly as his body descended.

"Then I am... Something new."
"Then I am... Something new."

His feet found purchase in the void, and as his chest, then shoulders equaled out parallel to his feet, the fledgling would growl, his throat vibrating in an unnatural way for a human, as if to emphasis the point.

"If you're a monster... Then what. Am. I?"
"If you're a monster... Then what. Am. I?"

His chin finally leveled out with the rest of his body, and his eye stared without fear into those six garnets once more.

"Food chain mother ********. A shark just fell into your ******** fish bowl Goldy."
"Food chain mother ********. A shark just fell into your ******** fish bowl Goldy."

Manic laughter roared through the void and echoed back from all directions like a round, the same thing heard on the outside as the eyes and gleaming teeth couldn't look any more amused with nothing more to characterize the form.

"Is that right, Blazeheart? You think you can walk in here and give yourself the gift of an ancient? I'm not a rifle, nor a blade some child can simply pick up, and wield."

"You said it yourself numpty ********. Only monsters be here, nothing beneath them. You defined yourself, I haven't yet. Here, i'm king and you're the ******** jester."
"You said it yourself numpty ********. Only monsters be here, nothing beneath them. You defined yourself, I haven't yet. Here, i'm king and you're the ******** jester."

He was able to move freely, as though the ocean had washed away and left nothing but air for him to command. This was now his realm, a corner of his inner being unlocked and surveyed.

"I keep evolving, and you'll feed me in that pursuit. You tried my line, but you stop at me. Corbin DeSeer."
"I keep evolving, and you'll feed me in that pursuit. You tried my line, but you stop at me. Corbin DeSeer."

The symbiotic being was deathly silent for a minute, still like the void around them both, until finally, he was up on the fledgling in a flash, all at once closing the distance with no distance covered, as though they had been face to face the entire time, and the monster roared maniacally.

"DeSeer?! Don't throw names at ME runt! I am a force of nature, something you can't yet fathom! In time though, you will begin to understand. I am La Magra. Congratulations."

And all at once, the fire returned to Corbin's eye and he was back in his own body and real time, confused, but back.

.: Looks like the proverbial ant hill just got bull dozed... :.
.: You'd think I'd learn, wouldn't you, after all these decades? But nooo, I just HAVE to poke my nose in... :.

She'd stepped back as things progressed, and sought smokes instead of blades, watching while some part of her listened, without her ears seeming to have to be involved. Was she focused on this? Most definitely. Was the feeling of prickling heat inside her own circulatory system disturbing? Only marginally. Between the last few months, and the centuries before THAT of dealing with Beast... it was a mild discomfort, and one she refused to kow-tow to.

A quirked eyebrow at irregular intervals signalled shifting interest at what was revealed, and at what was felt. And then... she smirked, though the smile didn't exactly spread to her eyes.

"A-ha..."

Something she heard and felt confirmed a suspicion in her mind, and she nodded with satisfaction. Watching focus on the present return to the young man, she leant against the wall in front of him, smoking indolently, and waited for him to raise his gaze.

"If it's any consolation, bitching out gods is a VERY DeSeer thing to do. I find it very cathartic myself."

A grin loitered about ruby lips, and this one HAD spread to her eyes, where genuine mirth threatened to spill over into a full throated laugh. Enjoyment of her smoke seemed the only thing stopping her.

.: Watch it... :.
.: Our relationship is founded on arguments, my dear, let's not pretend. I am grateful such is no longer the case. :.
.: I somehow doubt such will be the case for your arrogant young charge.. :.
.: Arrogance is borne of youth and optimism. And the young achieve much as they haven't been told yet what is, and is not, possible. So long as my work contains it... he will make an admirable sword. :.

Dagoth had been in a coma since the incident in the garden, his body had not been prepared for whatever had happened. The result being the pirate had cooked himself inside out, his body had begun to heal slowly peeling out the dead flesh and damaged muscle. His arms and legs would twitch now and again as the slow work made it's progress, Dagoth himself was finally remembering it all.

His mind felt the cold night air of the desert, the soft material of the cotton sheets and then the unnatural warmth of the arms sliding under his. Dagoth would look back at her and grin like a boy who had finally gotten it, no matter the time he spent with her that smile didn't fade. She'd press her head against his neck and the dream would shoot forward, leaving him to watch as his young adolescence would shoot past him. He'd catch glimpses of his family, fights with his father, training under his mentor and more nights with her. Slices of the words would reach his ears but it was still not clear what was said, he was still deaf to his past even his eyes were wide open.

.::I'm hungry::.

It was two words that kept repeating itself over and over again, a strange childlike voice that kept at him. He tried to focus on the pictures moving past him, drawing on the teaching Roan had given him slowly the voice began to creep down in volume. Dagoth's body twitched again as the healing slowly drew to a close.

It is a known fact that trouble multiplies by itself if left to its own devices, and drama comes in threes.
Therefore, it was little surprise that the Lady had taken the time to ensure that while one drama unfolded within the cool confines of the cell complex under the house, a second version of herself was keeping an eye on the firebrand that had so discourteously charred her entire body last time they'd talked.

It was hard to know which Roan was the real one - the one downstairs watching a beast god, or the one upstairs watching a phoenix rise from the proverbial flames.
Sat in a chair by Dagoth's bed, she had her fingers steepled in front of her as she watched him recovering, possessed as usual of that predatory stillness humans couldn;t emulate.

He groaned as he began to wake up, his eyes not wanting to open but his dormant mind had managed to latch on to a small slip of normality and began to push. From there it took minutes for him to begin to pull his eyes apart, he slapped his jaws together trying to shake the taste of carbon from his tongue. It didn't take him much longer to realise his body wasn't quite ready for him to be moving, the sharp paid when he tried to sit up was almost knocked him back out . The waves of profanity was enough that his old ship mates would have blushed, he was sure the girls scurrying about past his door were all of a titter about it. Then it hit him his nostrils flaring, polished steel, refined leather and a subtle incredibly elegant perfume was in here. Dagoth could turn his head but he guessed only one person would be watching over him. He tried to speak, at first his voice came out squeaky, causing the pirate to swallow a few times before returning to more normal pitch.

"Got any water?"

It was probably not the right thing to say but it was the main thing on his mind, he did wonder if he wasn't in chains or dead but he was never one to take a small turn of fortune down. Dagoth also knew she hadn't poured any blood down his neck, he knew too well the hangover from that and these weren't the same effects.
PostPosted: Tue May 22, 2012 11:41 am

When she stood, she did so in silence, save the sound of leather moving against itself, her motions fluid and catlike as she left the room briefly. A few minutes later, she returned, bearing a jug of iced water and suitable tumblers to decant it into.
Doing so, she'd pass the half filled glass across, a straw discreetly at the bedside in case sitting proved too painful.

"Small sips. Don't over do it."

Her tone was even and gentle, her expression... well, while it wasn't sympathetic, it wasn't angered or cold. Slight flickers in her eyes, tiny darting movements every now and then, belied concern, or at least interest in his condition, as opposed to dispassionately waiting for him to have healed enough to beat to a pulp.
Assumably then, he was safe. Or as safe one ever was in this house.

He was determined not to loose any more face than he already had, through gritted teeth and some less than manly cries of pain. The Pirate in a few minutes had raised himself to a sitting position, from there he grinned at her sweat visible on his brow and body. His hand shook from exhaustion as he reached for the glass, his mind mocked his pathetic recovery reminding him of how each time he gotten this hurt one of them had watched over him. Dagoth held the glass with both hands, watching them intently wishing they'd just stop shaking to let him drink. Carefully he raised the glass to his lips, the rush of water into his mouth cause him to gag and the pirate choked down his water. Laughing softly, he took Roan's advice and stuck too small sips until he had drained the glass. His arms lost their strength leaving the glass to fall to his lap and the straw stuck in his mouth, pushing the plastic tube out of his mouth Dagoth spoke again.

"Ok, so I don't remember you kicking my a**, what did I do?"
