When the new trainee got what was coming to her Candace tried not to flinch too much, merely closing her eyes and breathing in deeply. Ohhhh, man. He was angry. Circe could be painful, Candace knew that quite well by now. She opened them again as he mentioned evacuating. Evacuating? Why were they...whose...phone was ringing? She pulled down her mask and looked down at her own phone. Not ringing..not Kat's, not the phone of anyone near her? The ******** kicked something and began to dig, and Candace's eyes widened. Seeing everything without the mask..it...it was disgusting. She nearly lost her breakfast, pulling the neck of her coat up to cover her mouth so she didn't have to use her muck-covered hands. Oh god. Oh god. ********! Was that a hunter uniform?! Who did it--
"Oh god--" Candace coughed and had to turn away at the sight of it, bending her knees and crouching low as if the smaller the smaller she made herself the less chance there was of her throwing up right then and there. It wasn't any of the trainees. It was a hunter. A full fledged hunter. She didn't need to be told she was dismissed twice, and this time she didn't mind it. She was okay with it. Yes.
Candace quickly stumbled toward the door. "Come on, Kat." Her pace hurrying when she heard the thud, stepping through the door like a woman on a mission.
A mission to find the nearest bathroom.

Stop attacking? Otto leaned on his weapon, watching the chaos come to a close. He visibly winced as Reine was smacked to the ground by Caelius after attacking despite the order not to. "Stupid girl.." He muttered under his breath.
The young teen watched with morbid curiosity as Caelius pulled muck off of a body, or rather, half of a body. While it was gross, sick and nauseating, Otto couldn't turn away. It was like watching a train wreck, or the after math of a train wreck. Soon enough, they were ordered to leave. With no reason to stick around, Otto dismissed his weapon, allowing it to return to its smaller form as a wrist bangle, and made his way back toward and through the portal.
Maybe it wasn't so boring here after all.

Sherry pulled herself to her feet just as Caelius entered the scene. She gasped as he hit the trainee, and she swallowed hard as he turned to the creature. To what was left of the creature. It..it was over. Her first mission had been terrible, even before the fight began. Then the creature had popped up, causing chaos and wounded her and others. But, quick as it had begun it was over. The creature was finished. Armagnac didn't complain as Sherry desummoned her with one hand; her other hand was working on removing her mask.
The color came back to the world. Sherry immediately wished she hadn't done that. The Moon Hunter, Julie, had arrived by then, but Sherry barely noticed. Her eyes were locked on what was left of the creature. That coat...Oh, God. It...it was alive. Who? What was going on here? Just...just what was all of this? Does Caelius know that Hunter? How did they get inside that? How can they still... The questions flooded her mind.
Sherry's eyes refused to leave the scene before her even as someone, Julie her mind registered, grabbed a hold of her arm and pulled her away. She didn't even have time to look for her partner.

If Caelius was going to gently scold the new trainee about disobeying direct orders, Leon would have thought that the man wasn't ready to get back onto the field. It was an expected result as the dull thump of Circe meeting flesh was heard and he watch the Girl get sent backwards. The best thing he could do was let the trainee get up on her own feet by herself. And he promptly shut his mouth when the order to evacuate was told. There still seemed to be many limbs lying about, just waiting to be recovered, the poor souls.
The boxer watched curiously as the irate hunter began to call a number and the more surprising thing was the beeping that could be heard out here in the sandy wasteland of corpses. He watched with a detached sense of awareness as Cael began to dig further and further under the creatures remains in search of where the sound was emanating from and soon enough.
He found it, and it wasn't complete. The strangled sound of shock erupted from Leon's throat at the state of the poor hunter, its face was tarnished beyond belief to the point of anonymity. It was horrible, and he pull ed scarf closer to his face, a weak attempt to refrain from soling the sand with even more bodily fluids and bits of chum from his stomach. Even with its form in such shambles, it tried to relay a message to the leader, a garbled mess of words that bubbled forth, but the message was still said.
It's not even a trainee Leon, that's a hunter. The sudden words from the dragon made him feel more fatigued, like his legs turned into pudding and didn't want to stay upright any further. "These people.... what a massacre..." he said in shock. Even as Cael Rose his weapon in the air and a thud was heard in the howling wind, it didn't ease the pain and shock that Leon felt as he moved closer to the temporary base, almost on autopilot.
They were a squad, that would have to fight together, live together and have to bury one another.

Candace's legs looked to be in bad condition, but she would have to take her word on it and hope that she would at least seek out medical attention later. Kat, on the other hand, only had two wounds. The gash from Leon, and a nice burn mark on her right arm from her charge attack. It was a damned good shot, but the recoil sucked. Thankfully, the burn was not as bad as it looked.
Grinning, she slapped the woman's hand in a 'high five'. She had to admit, she was a little proud of herself for doing well in the battle. Hopefully Xedis would find her a little more worthy now.
Turning to eye Caelius as he stormed up to the new trainee girl, she winced when he cracker her in the jaw with his weapon, sending her flying. Poor girl..
Her attention shifted back to Caelius as he dug out what appeared to be another hunter. Was that what she had seen inside the beast they had attacked. Hopeful that the hunter was still alive, her mouth gaped open when she realized he wasn't all there. "Oh my G--" She could handle the corpses..but to see someone still alive and in that condition--it was horrible.
Upon being dismissed and Candace calling for her to come; Kat followed after. No one had to tell her twice.
Trailing her partner, the only thing she could hear in the background, was the sound of the hunter's wheezing and a sudden thud.

Cass's stomach lurched as the Death Hunter took a moment to pull the beast apart, sympathetic entirely to Reine when she got hit by the scythe. Cass knew that man's wrath. She hadn't gotten the scythe, but she had enough 'love bites' to account for a trip to see Dr. H, some borderline molestation, and some bad nightmares.
But still, she nearly puked again when the body was pulled out of the creature, trying to not cry at the sight of it. It was horrible. It was disgusting. Just...eurrghh.. she sort of questioned what line of work she'd just gotten into, but she also knew it was too late to turn away from it then. Still, she turned to Aleister, touching his arm gently before she started walking back to the tent.
"It's time to head back, let's go." she said, linking her arm with his. "We can do laundry...or something..." she added glumly. "No tomatoes today..." She was sure there was enough red 'gunk' around for Caelius already.
And so, Cassandra headed back to the portal.

Tedan found out he could move again when Caelius's voice BLASTED him through the earpiece and he reached up to rip the thing off without even thinking about it. deaf?!> he yelped internally, still wincing even as he pushed himself up to a sitting position.
Just in time to see the Death Hunter smack Reine. Ouch .... erm, well. Not that he thought Caelius had to be that harsh about it, but she probably should've followed orders, or whatever.
What happened next, though, sort of broke his brain a little. Dead body, he could have (maybe) handled. But half-a-person that was somehow still moving ... not so much. s**t .... just ... ******** don't ever wanna be that guy ... ******** ...>
came the somewhat subdued reply from Ardavan. Okay, so now he had brand new incentive to work really ******** hard on this training. s**t. Turning to Bix, Tedan pushed himself up to his feet again and muttered, "Let's get outta here, kay?"

Ryan couldn't help the small smile that appeared on his face when both Dakota and Eva tried to help him, even Wilson was there. Really, the fact that they were even trying to help him was enough.
"T-thanks... and its okay, I'm fine..." He paused. "I think--anyways, I don't think its too serious, my vision is just a little blurry is all... and dizzy." Well that and he hurt all over.
The worst of it was, he had lost enough blood to make him feel light headed. Inhaling the poisonous black smoke that creature had breathed out hadn't helped with that either... but with a little rest, a lot of bandages, he'd probably be just fine. Though one thing was for certain. Once he got back, he wanted to get every single wound he had disinfected and take a damn long shower! Spending the morning mucking around among a bunch of disease ridden corpses was just asking to get an infection or disease of some sort.
"Are you guys okay?" He asked, wincing as the loud thunderous roar of simultaneous gunshot's tore trough the air.
The collective damage of all the trainee's and the following finishing blow from Kat's guns stopped the monster in it's tracks. Though it didn't stop there. Three more took a shot at it before Caelius ordered a cease fire on the beast. Why? He had no clue, it was hard enough to focus on the few people around him, let alone the hulking decaying beast further away.
He heard some of the commotion going on though, as well as the deadly tone in Caelius' voice, but not the exact words. He did however, catch the following 'crack,' as Reine was struck in the jaw by Caelius.
"What's going o--" He started to ask, only to be hoisted onto his feet, so that they could make their way back to the portal. Stopping momentarily when Wilson decided to look back.
"...Wilson?"

Vanessa's face twitched slighly as Caelius sent the girl flying, the only sign that she's cringed on the inside. Mentally, she told herself, 'Do not make Caelius angry', and felt Volt wordlessly agreeing with her.
Then, his phone made a call, and the person he was calling was...they were inside of the thing everyone had been destroying. The disembodied ringing sound reverberated in Vanessa's head, and she felt her heartbeat quickening to made the situation. Someone was inside that gunky black miasma.
Well, apparently only half a someone.
Vanessa felt the bile rising in her throat, realizing deep down that the person had been a Hunter. A true Hunter, not just a trainee. The monster had...it had destroyed the body beyond recognition. And hadn't even had the decency to allow the poor half-of-a-Hunter the honor of a quick death.
Ceres was alive, and seemed well enough to flee as everyone else did. "Good luck..." She said quietly when the medic suggested a race back. She simply stared at the poor, speaking figure for a moment, then allowed herself to be turn her back on the whole scene and head back toward the portal. One thought wound through her mind, over and over again, even as the thudding sound merged with it.
This time, a Hunter had died, along with the many corpses. Someone who had been trained to fight off these monsters had died. Next time, it might be a civilian...next time it might be Vivian.
Vanessa would train as hard as she had to, do whatever she could, to keep that from happening. Those were her thoughts as she headed back through the portal.
