 Rufus blinked at him. "Of course you're coming with me, as is Troy. I expected nothing else. We'll leave now - everything is ready." He smiled at his Butler for a moment, then became serious and offered him his hand. "Can you forgive me?" he murmured, watching Kuro's eyes.

"I feel a lot better, but where is everyone and why is she upset?" he murmured, watching Helena.

Meme smiled and laughed a little. "She's upset because her father's guard is being a little.....well he's not treating her like the person he loves. Everyone went to the castle yesterday, although I'm not sure what could be keeping them so long. I'm starting to worry about them."

Kuro entered the carriage and stared out of his window, since the drapes were drawn there was no need to hide his face from the public anymore. The anger he felt from the tyrant was still fresh in his emotions no matter how hard he fought off the urges to strangle something. Kuro heard Rufus' voice and saw his hand being offered to him but was a little confused about the topic. "Forgive you for what?" he asked in a tone that expressed very little emotion. As a butler he was trained not to show emotion, but he had trouble keeping it out of his voice, which is what made this situation unusual as there was little effort to exhaust his emotion in his tone.

Rufus glanced at Troy, who was feigning sleep. "For my father. For not stopping him sooner." he murmured, shame colouring his cheeks a dull red.

Akito frowned. "If anything were wrong, they would have sent word. I know Kuro and Rufus wouldn't abandon us." He held out a hand to Meme to hold. "How are you doing?" he whispered, watching his friend.
Why couldn't they have had this conversation in the palace when I gave them space? I know it's important; I know we all wanted to get moving, but still! Troy kept his eyes closed.

Meme gave a soft sigh. "I'm alright, just worried is all. I'm scared something happened to them that might have prevented them from sending word." he said softly, sitting at Akito's feet. "How are your wounds? Can I see them?"

Kuro frowned and returned his gaze to the window. "I do not hold grudges against you, Sire. You were merely a young boy, there was nothing you could do to stop him. I am first and foremost your personal servant. So please discontinue your worry that you are somehow responsible for another person's actions." he said softly, remaining as formal as ever with the boy who had grown so much in the years that Kuro had been living with him.

Rufus shook his head at him. "You don't have to be formal with me, Kuro." he paused and blinked. "Well, unless we have guests or something like that. Wow..." He paled and looked ill, remembering that he was going to be King. "K-King-ugghh... I might have to get out a-and walk..." he muttered, hand over his mouth.

Akito nodded. "Yes, but only so long as you're not going to be sick." He lifted the sheet carefully, eyes on Meme in case he was ill. He noticed that Cook kept a covert eye on them, no doubt making sure Akito wasn't lying about the cuts healing.

Meme gave Akito a reassuring smile. "You know I have a strong stomach." he said softly, looking over Akito's wounds and frowning. "I hope it doesn't hurt anymore. They look like they're healing though." he said softly.

Kuro looked over at Rufus with a little gentler gaze, bending the boy in half so his head was between his knees. "Just focus on breathing." he said softly, rubbing Rufus' back gently. "You will make a much better king than your father." he said softly. "You will no doubt be the youngest king in history but I believe you will be a righteous ruler."

Rufus managed a weak smile. "N-not the youngest... uggghh... but thank you." He slowly sat up. "I doubt Meme would forgive me if I arrived later than the carriage did."

Akito shrugged. "I'm used to any pain, so I'm not registering it at the moment." He listened intently, frowning. "Is a carriage coming?"

Meme looked out the window and saw the glimmer of a carriage. "Yeah, I guess that's Rufus." he said softly, but he wouldn't rush out of the cottage to greet them just yet, unsure of whether the safety protocol was still in place.

Kuro kept his hands to himself once he saw the boy start to recover. "I'm sure Meme would find some way to condone you being late." he said softly, though he couldn't say the same for him and Akito. The carriage came to a stop and Kuro straightened himself a bit. "We've arrived." he said softly, waiting for everyone else to exit the carriage before he himself exited and soon entered the cottage.

Rufus nodded to Kuro and, once the carriage stopped, jumped down as though all was fine. He didn't want Meme to worry about him... at least, not just yet. He made his way to the door and opened it, inclining his head to everyone before Helena zoomed past him.
"Sorry we're late. We can all go home now..."

Trapped. Helena didn't acknowledge Rufus as she ran for Troy. "You stupid, idiotic-!" she fumed, hitting him in the arm before holding him close. "Why were you gone so long, you moron?!"
When he finished speaking, she stepped back and started sparring, needing an outlet for her anger.
Akito waited, smiling faintly as Helena left. "Troy's in for a world of hurt..." he murmured to no-one in particular, waiting to see whether or not his beau was anywhere to be found.
Troy caught Helena and held her, wincing at her punches - they weren't ladylike in any sense of the word. "I was needed at the palace - justt ask Kuro when he has a moment!"
He knew she would... then she pulled out her sword and came at him, furious as they sparred.

Meme smiled when he saw Rufus come into the cottage and ran up to hug him tightly. "I'm just glad you're okay." he said softly, glad to be in his arms once more and unharmed. "What happened? Why were you so late?"

Kuro was the last to enter the cottage and was glad to see Akito awake. He came right to the boy's side and gave him a loose hug, not wanting to hurt him or disturb his wounds. "How are you feeling?" he asked softly, moving the blanket and examining the wounds. "They're looking much better." Kuro ran his fingers along Akito's arms, careful not to disturb the wounds.

Rufus hid a wince and hugged Meme in return. "We had to bury my father and I had to go to the funeral, otherwise the people would talk. There will be a public one as well, but a few days from now."
He smiled, relieved his father was gone, but shaky. "I hated him, Meme, but now... I'm struggling to process that I'll be King." he gulped. "I might be difficult to deal with; you sure you want to stay married to me?"

Akito smiled at Kuro. "Much better. How are you?" He lifted his arms from Kuro so he could run his fingers over Kuro's face, searching for any signs that his man was hiding wounds or bruises. "Did you get hurt?"

Meme was a bit surprised at first and wondered what had happened to Rufus' father but decided it was probably best that he didn't know. He placed a hand on Rufus' cheek and smiled at him. "I think you'll make a great King. I wouldn't want to be with anyone else." he said softly, hoping he was making the man feel better.

Kuro took Akito's hands from his face and kissed the top of one of them gently. "I'm not hurt." he said softly. "You won't need to worry about Alaric any longer, I promise. We can all go home." Kuro stood up and faced Rufus. "Should we load up the carriage and send for two more to gather the rest of the staff?" he asked softly, standing guard of Akito.

Rufus smiled and lay his head against Meme's for a moment, treasuring his words. Then he let go, kissing Meme's cheek before heading over to Kuro. "Yes. We'll get everyone into the carriage that'll fit - I'll ride one of the horses and Cook can have my seat. One of the coachman can drive, the other can ride the other horse. You, Akito and Meme will fit into the carriage. I don't want to leave anyone behind if possible: you all need food."
He smiled. "We'll send horses back for Helena and Troy; they sound like they'll be a while."
Everyone started getting ready, Rufus supervising and hiding a wince or two - Meme's hold on him, though welcome, had hit a couple of his bruises. Riding might not be as fun as usual.

Cook nodded and started preparing to leave, making sure they could leave everything unnecessary here - they'd be packed as it was.
Akito let out a relieved breath, nodding. "Wish I could help carry something..." he mumbled, feeling like an invalid.

Noticing Rufus' apparent pain, Meme looked the man over but didn't appear to be wounded at least from what he could see. "Are you okay? Did I hurt you by accident?" he asked softly, he had hoped Rufus would tell him what was wrong. Though that may be unlikely.

Kuro shook his head and knelt beside Akito. "Can you walk?" he asked softly, taking Akito's arm to aid him if the boy decided to try and stand up. "If you still can't walk I will carry you into the carriage myself. Don't worry about not carrying anything. I don't want you tearing your stitches." he said firmly.

Rufus cast a worried look in Cook's direction, then pulled Meme gently to the side. "I had a bit of a scuffle with Alaric. But I'm alright, I promise. I didn't want to worry you." he murmured, hoping Cook wasn't listening.
Before Meme could answer, a shadow loomed over them. Looking up slowly, Rufus groaned as he saw Cook's hands on her hips.
...
Rufus turned to Meme after Cook's hug, leaning close to his ear. "Told you Cook was like my mother. Even when it means scolding me."

Cook heard Rufus from clear across the room. Treading silently, she stood over him with her hands on her hips. "Rufus Arthur Rayne! You DARE to tell me you got injured and intended not to inform me of it?" she started to reach for his ear, intending to pinch it, but he'd been hurt enough so she clenched her fist instead. "I ought to tan your hide into a new colour of red, but since you've been hurt enough I'll just make sure you've seen the nurse and that you rest up."
Her voice softened. "You're the closest thing I have to a son, so don't you start getting into fights or getting hurt. You're married now: be responsible!" she huffed, hugging him tight and then going to finish packing.
Akito took a deep breath and tried standing, his legs shaking badly. Before he realised it, he'd fallen forward into Kuro's arms with an expression of intense pain on his face. Something had tugged as he moved, but he felt no liquid so he was alright. He held onto Kuro's arm like a rail and shook his head.
"I'm sorry, but I don't think I can walk yet."
