As Angel began moving between his legs Yuri turned and moved his leg over her head to keep from being crossed up. As she yanked on his thumb to make him release her fist he pulled his hand up and pushed up on his right leg to move to a standing position before jumping back and away from her while kicking at the wrist that held his thumb as he moved to make her release his arm before she could grab it with the other hand and so that he could put distance between them. He was impressed with her resisting the pain of the damaged knee and rolling and jostling it so much.

As Yuri's thumb was twisted he reflexively turned his wrist with it to keep it from breaking. As it was yanked downward though he felt it dislocate before being released as his jump backwards carried him away from the girl. When she started throwing punches from a distance he rolled to his right to continue moving away from her even as he felt an impact on his knee as he began moving. The first impact confirmed his thought that she was using the ki assault technique, as his leg dropped and he rolled to the side. The second would catch his left shoulder and the fourth his left foot. The result was three of the hits striking his right knee, left shoulder, and left foot while the rest passed. When she turned to direct her good leg at him though Yuri countered by simply rolling back to his feet and running in a circle around her to keep her foot from facing him while she was kicking. As he ran he moved farther away from her and circled towards his broken staff while also using his other hand to help pop his thumb back into the socket. He was lucky she hadn't twisted after pulling it out of the socket.

As Yuri reached the other piece of the staff he smiled slightly and held it like a short staff with his hands together as he began walking towards her. It was not so much the length of the staff that was important to him as the medium the staff represented for his techniques. As he approached the girl he circled to approach from the direction of her injured leg. As he did so he debated whether to strike at the knee directly or use one of his techniques.

As Yuri neared Angel he swung his left foot forward to kick at the foot of her injured leg to jostle it and twist the damaged knee. As he kicked he swung the section of the staff, with the broken portion facing her. His aim was to either block her efforts to defend the kick to her foot or to strike her segment of staff out of the way. If she didn't move to block the staff the broken edges might cut into her legs.

Since Yuri had kicked with his left foot he simply followed through the motion as her section of staff whiffed under his leg. As her body twisted from swinging the staff like a baseball bat he simply flicked his segment up out of the sand to send a spray of the gritty dirt towards her face and eyes as he used his own momentum to spin away leaving him nearly eight feet from her torso. He was debating whether or not to focus energy into the staff section or not.

Yuri moved to a distance of ten feet and crouched slightly with his right hand touching the sand as he stabbed the section of staff into the sand in front of him and suddenly grabbed his right arm with his left and began to finish setting his injured shoulder to give as much functionality to the arm as possible so that he could end the fight. He had a coup de grace planned but would need to be at least a little acrobatic to pull it off properly.
