She couldn't stop the greed this time. It was too much to fight against, and she wrapped her arms tightly around his, pulling him possessively close, gloved fingers digging into his back. Even when he let go, she held on, not ready to let him walk out that door. Out... she meant through, right? Right, of course.

Letting out a breath she hadn't known she'd been holding, Zeta Eight finally, finally let Alpha Seven pull back, letting her hands slip a little to accommodate the extra distance between them, wincing a little at the tap of the gasmasks that should have been the comforting press of two foreheads.

"Don't be scared," she murmured in reply, her resolve having returned somehow, "I have to talk to Zeta Three, but after that, I'll be right behind you. I promise."

It didn't have to be now. And he didn't have to wait for her. But if he wanted her to, she would be there to follow him into the dark, their hands clasped so tight that nothing could make her let go.

And ever so slightly, A-Three smiled beneath his mask, "Naturally for you, I would suppose...and then again, if we could drink, I would have proposed that a long time ago." It hadn't been his first instinct, but goodness...if ever there was a time to imbibe, now would have been it. Finally, as the piano music trailed, he released the other's hands, and stepped into a bit of a bow.

"It would seem that our dear Fiver has found himself a friend..." He murmured, with a nod towards Gamma-Eleven. "If we all...still intend on departing together, we had best reclaim the lost member of our little trio, for all the ridicule that we have received...." His tone went wry, "...I would like to keep our peculiar dynamic intact." The man could hardly ignore the fact that, despite his intentions quite to the contrary, a touch of loyalty had sparked between him and his minions.

"I would have accepted." Fiver II piped in rather quickly. He was reluctant to let Three go but he knew that they would have to stop eventually. Though the idea of perpetually dancing with the other man was one that he kept entertaining.

He smiled at the bow and with flourish gave one of his own. Standing he peered over at Fiver and gave a warm grin. Good, he would hate for Fiver to get jealous of the attention he was giving Three. "Of course, sir. I wouldn't go anywhere without the two of you. You've got me for life....er, well death." He laughed slightly.

Flopping down by Fiver he put a possessive arm around the other man's shoulders and made sure Gamma-Eleven knew that he was already taken. While submissive to Three, Fiver II considered himself in charge of Alpha Five and his protector. "We'll be going soon I think, Fiver. You want to dance with me first?" He inquired leaning his helmet against the others'.

E8 nodded towards E12 and E7. If they were going to go out they might as well go out as a team. At least that way no one would feel alone when they finally accepted their fate and reached the end of their time in this place.

"That sounds like a good plan. We could always hold hands or each other's shoulders as we walk though? At least that way we could give the person before us some sense of comfort as they walk through. I just...can't believe this is it. It's almost time now..."

It was inevitable at his point. They all knew the time was drawing closer, and there would be no way around it. They had to go through that door and meet their final fate, true death.

Gamma 12 is entering from "THIS IS A TEST"

She'd actually done it, huh?

Gamma 12 found herself in quite the unusual place, looking about. Her head really hurt. Funny how being in the strange place and her head hurting while she was there brought back such...strange memories. It wasn't as though Gamma 12 had been...intending to take her life out of some 'not wanting to live anymore' from the beginning.

But she'd done it, none the less. And it had probably been messy too. She hoped the other guy had suffered for it, though. She..had this feeling like she'd been in that lounge before though.

There had been less people then..and her head really really really did hurt. She clutched it a little as she looked about the room. Something about it felt a little bit off from what vague deja-vu she was getting.. but none the less... well. She sighed, holding up one hand in greeting.

"Well, I guess the answer of life after death is solved..."

"Thor? Must be Beta Four's idea, am I right?" She couldn't help laughing at the nicknames floating around due to that one "special" Beta, although a part of her - a small, small part of her - was kind of glad that her teammates were not... MIA or something. She listened at the exchange between them; she would be stroking her chin in a thoughtful manner if not for the fact that the gas mask was preventing it.

"Murderers? Heh, your task sounds much more fascinating than mine," She tapped a finger against her gas mask, "I died after being dropped into a vat of flesh eating piranhas, who took me as their next meal, managed to somehow swim out... But was killed by a poisoned dart right here." She shrugged, patting the arm the dart had hit.

"Oh? Did he?" She laughed again at Beta Three's comment, grinning beneath her gas mask and sort of relieved they were unable to see her expression. She then paused before standing up, giving Theta Four a pat on the top of his gas mask, "Well, don't flatter yourself too much by calling yourself a murderer. Just because you grew some balls and had to kill someone doesn't make you one. Its kill or be killed, wouldn't you agree?"

Was she actually trying to insult or comfort him? Perhaps a little bit of both, but she was never good at the whole 'being nice' thing.

Then, she extended out a fist brofist-style at Beta Three, "You fought well to get this far. You officially grew a good set of balls... Tell that to Beta Fo- Hm, to Bix and Before as well, Bee." That's the first and last time she would be using the nicknames given to her teammates.

"And you too, Teeth," She extended out her other fist for a brofist as well, "I would love to stay, but I need to have these questions in my head answered, so I'll be leaving first yet again. Don't linger around here too long or your balls might fall off~"

Whether they brofisted her or not, Beta Seven turned and walk away from them without looking back. There - her leaving wasn't a sad or overly sentimental one. It was just 'moving on'; she died without any of them knowing and she would leave for 'the official other side' without half of them seeing her do it... Just the way she likes it.

Walking over to the open door, she peered out at the endless darkness, pausing for a moment, as if hesitating; no, she wouldn't lose her balls here! Grinning, Beta Seven threw back her head to laugh loudly, the same way she did when the poison dart hit and she knew that her time was up - it was a great way to go.

"HAHAHAHAHA-"

And then she vanished into the darkness, her laughter stopping abruptly.

Thor's smile was hidden by his own mask.

"Yes, apparently it sounded much better than Theta four."

Fascinating, he would have hardly called it as such. Though he did suppose he was fortunate enough to have chosen his own death, then again maybe that wasn't so fortunate after all. Was any death truly better or worse than another, was there any more meaning in one over the other? No, he didn't think so.

"Yes, that is true, though I do not envy the survivors."

In some ways he supposed it may have been a relief to fall before the others, for those of them here at least, the struggle was over.

"Good luck, I hope you find the answers that you seek."

He watched in silence as Beta 7 walked through the door, laughter, and then she had disappeared into the darkness. The answers, is that what was truly beyond that door? Or was it only darkness that awaited them on the other side? He wasn't sure if he was ready to find out.

"So, who wants a drink?"

People were leaving. They were actually passing through that door.

Some of the people Z3 even recognized, and he was torn between passing them off as entirely stupid or seething jealously over their faith in Being Okay. How could they trust in the words of people who'd only manipulated them to start with? Or were they just so desperate to move on, to find out who they'd been and what they'd lost, that the risk seemed like an acceptable gamble to take? Through all the song and sentiment, he had never moved from his seat.

... He still didn't know what to do with himself there, and the longer he sat, the less he was certain of. What would happen when the rest of the bodies had cleared out, anyway? The crowd was shifting as old cycled out and new filed in, but eventually, if he truly stuck to his guns and waited, the place would fall still. Was it worse to spend eternity alone in a bar with undrinkable liquor, or to lose himself in a sea of the unknown?

And the one time he stole a glance over his shoulder, straining his ears to listen for more familiar voices, he heard something that unsettled him more than he ever liked admitting to.

"... I'll be right behind you. I promise."

Masks could only muffle so much of a person's voice, and he knew exactly who it had come from. For a moment, there was a pressing, knotted feeling in his chest, and a guilty part of him felt compelled to budge... but he didn't, ultimately, and just refocussed his gaze on the wall.

He should have never let himself see the humanity in these people, in her.

... If he hadn't, these feelings wouldn't torment him so.

Zeta Eight had slowly detangled herself from Alpha Seven, sliding him out from between her legs to slip silently off the plush red cushion of the stool, her hand still wrapped loosely around his upper arm. Whether he was ready or not, they couldn't stay here forever. She knew he knew that, although his denial was palpable -- they both knew she had noticed him looking towards the door, asking himself 'Is it now? Is now the moment I truly die?' And in the end, he always looked back, hiding behind a joke and a smile she could hear in his voice. But they both knew it couldn't last. Time was running out. And she had one last thing to do. Scanning the lounge slowly, her mask stilled as she saw where Zeta Three was sitting across the room. He was the last one she needed to talk to. In him mirrored the same qualities she possessed, qualities she had not only used to survive, but used to cover up her flaws, insecurities, to extinguish her own hopes. He was the last step in her acceptance -- in convincing him, she would convince herself. Her hand slowly drifted from Alpha Seven's forearm as she took the first few steps towards the Zeta, traveling along the length of his arm, until only their fingertips were touching, breaking contact only at the last second.

It'll just be a minute, Seven. Then we can go.

"Three."

Zeta Eight didn't touch Zeta Three as she moved around the chair to stand in front of him, her mask tilted down to look at him for a moment. Bending slowly, she crouched in front of him, sitting on her haunches, meeting him eye-to-eye.

Amidst the shuffling and banter of so many other bodies, he could hear the sound of her footsteps very clearly. It was barely detectable, just a soft creak in the floor or soft scuffing of boot rubber, but it was enough. He knew she was slipping over before she ever crossed his line of sight, yet still, his mind begged the question of why.

"Zeta Eight," he returned the 'greeting' just as swiftly, head turning slowly, sluggishly, towards her gaze. There'd be no point in feigning the old confidence now. She was too smart for that to begin with, and... maybe he just didn't have it in him anymore to try.

"... You're about to step through that thing, aren't you." From anyone else, it would've been a question, yet the resignation and knowing in his voice was thickly tangible. How could she possibly trust it? She was so very like him, and yet... so much warmer. More accepted-- perhaps to a fault. Had the camaraderie swayed her into going against her better judgement?

It seemed that the others were talking. Conversing. Making some last peace with those they had known in life before they plunged through the door..but the one person that Gamma 12 would have made peace with was alive...though the others had already plunged through the door to their own ends it seemed.

Or whatever was beyond that door. It seemed people were apprehensive about the door and as she considered it a little bit longer, she sighed, her shoulders drooping ever so slightly. Though behind her mask, she was smiling. She was pretty damn done with that game, she guessed. She didn't need to live at the end of the game.

It had been a fabulous game.

"I hope things turn out well for everybody here. I'm gonna go now." she said, walking over to the door and waving a hand over her shoulder as she passed through it. "If anybody here sees another Gamma after I'm gone, please tell them 12 sends them her regards." she bid, "And I hope you all have a safe time." she added, before she plunged into the darkness beyond, face first.

Gamma 12 has exited into the great beyond...

Miliardo Kason
Why was everyone singing and why didn't they seem to know any other lyrics? Why couldn't they sing something else. He knew a song, he wasn't sure where he heard it though but from where he was laying he started to join the rather odd group of dead folks singing his own song.

"Carry on my wayward son. There will be peace when you are done..."

He paused for a moment looking around, was this peace? Was he done? If he was done why were they all still stuck in these suits? And where was HIS Five, not Alpha Five, Theta Five. He rolled slightly looking around either for someone to continue his song, or to find his missing friend.

Theta-5 had been here. He had been sitting in his own corner because, for his short life as a Theta, he had no friends. His team had scattered the moment they had left the tent, and everyone else had attacked him for a pendant. A shiny bit of jewelry that he hoped he could later give Theta-13 if he had to. Instead, it was probably in some classroom.

Alone, the small Theta sat on a chair and watched as others talked, seeming to have made memorable bonds either as a whole team or just with a few. He envied this greatly, and turned, moving a empty chair next to him. That was reserved....not that he wanted Theta-13 to die. Just...if it got crowded here, he could have a space. Even in the afterlife, he tried his pathetic best to look out for his friend. Too bad that Theta-13 had been the one thing keeping him alive and he was stupid taking on a fight, getting cocky with a pendant, and trying to be the hero. Instead, he got killed, leaving his buddy alone.

Then, at long last, he heard it. Bolting up, he started to move, the singing passing as more and more of the chorus team was leaving the room into some door. He paid it no mind, having wanted to wait. He....didn't want to go alone into that door.

And there he was. Laying there. While he didn't think he was much for singing, he did know the song. Funny, he knew the song. He didn't think he knew many or any at all, but now there was a tune in his head.

Smiling, he came to his friend. "Lay your weary head to rest...Uh....I don't remember the rest." He said, and beamed down at his friend, offering a gloved hand.

If she was concerned by his listlessness, she didn't show it. In fact, it was almost as if her old confidence had returned as his diminished further -- her gaze never wavered from his as she listened, impeccably balanced on the toes of her boots. She could see through his lack of confidence in her as well, although he didn't seem to be trying to hide it, his voice laced with accusation. Still, she did not reach out to provide any physical contact with him -- if her resignation to her own death was a betrayal, any touch certainly would. She remembered her own reaction to it, the slow decay of her sanity, and she wondered if Zeta Three was slipping into the same pattern. It wasn't a pleasant place. Comfort had only brought fear.

Truth, however... that was something they both thrived in. Truth and absolution.

"Yes."

She knew why he didn't ask the question burning into his mind. He didn't need to ask why she would go through the door -- he knew how she thought, could read her with just a look, whether he knew it or not. But she answered anyway, both of them playing along in a conversation they could have likely had with just a look.

"I can't stay here, Three."

A7 had let her go.

It was important, important enough for her to leave him at his weakest moment, and who was he to keep her selfishly? He was no one, no one to her, no one to anyone here.

No one.

He swiveled quickly, turning away from the door once more - and that's when he saw it.

Desperate for a distraction, A7 stood up off his barstool to go read a note that was fastened to a billboard that he was certain hadn't been here before. The words were big, bold, and beautiful.

And they were easy to read.

"Guys." A7's voice had caught fire, loud and boisterous once more. "GUYS."

He turned his head, and slammed his fist into the wall.

"GUYS."

Deep down, perhaps Z3 had already predicted her response and knew exactly what she'd say-- but hearing it, oh, hearing it was harder on him than he could logically rationalize. The fact that she was so calm in her statements left him torn, too, his weaker self desperate to find a comfort in it, and everything else just seething with envy. He shouldn't have been the weaker one here. He was her equal, at the very least... so how was it that he'd fallen into a state like this? Why were his hands trying to shake? Why was his throat so dry? Why did it all feel so miserable and illogical and infuriatingly beyond him?

"... You have no idea what lies beyond that door," he said at last, the resignation in his voice prickling with hints of... God, what was it? Unnerving? "Yet you're still going through with it?"

This was what he absolutely failed to comprehend; this was the thing that ultimately terrified him. If truth and absolution were the things he thrived on, the unknown would be his greatest fear-- and that doorway seemed like one giant, looming, awful paradigm of everything he hated.

"You could lose everything in an instant," he added, softly, but too quickly. "Those hooded coats could be lying just to send us all through some metaphysical slaughterhouse. They're not our allies. They have no reason to treat us kindly in death."

She took Zeta Three's words in stride, hearing the sound of his voice waver behind the gas-mask, threatening to crumble. His voice was fast, far too fast for the cool, ever calculating Zeta 'soldier' he had been before, who had drolled in a way that had suggested careful consideration and intelligence. This felt more like panic, and she knew it too intimately, remembering it like a dream. Or like a memory she had only been semi-conscious for. Listening quietly until the very end, she spoke with the same quiet rational, the slightest hint of uncharacteristic understanding in her tone.

"Can you sit by and do nothing?"

If she was going to say anything else, it was cut off by the sudden sound of a fist banging into the wall and a loud voice she recognized all too well. Alpha Seven had had her attention at the first 'guys,' Zeta Eight's head snapping in his direction, the reiterations growing in strength only heightening her attentiveness, muscles tensing. Something felt wrong. Straightening slowly, Zeta Eight tilted her head to one side in a curious manner, glancing from Alpha Seven to where he was looking on the wall. A note? Had that always been there? Moving towards it with long, purposeful strides, she crossed the room in a few seconds, coming to stand beside the large Alpha, her eyes focusing on the note.

'So you're dead... want to live again?'

Part of her wondered if it was worth it. The clear torture they had been through suggested that this would not be a kind nor easy task, and would likely result in another excruciating death. They'd also be offering themselves as pawns once more, playing right into their 'captor's' games. But the other part, the part who could not stand idly, knew that she would not turn down the opportunity. Turning her attention back to Alpha Seven, she gave him a long stare that was clearly a question in disguise.

Well. Shall we?
