After a while a Taxi pulled up and and tall, muscular wolf, wearing a stunningly neat blue uniform and a white cap stepped out carrying a duffel bag and a suitcase.
He saw the group waiting for him and he smiled, he walked closer and then he hugged Shadow, "I missed you man..." he said, then looked at the others, "Hey Matt, Shayla... and who's kid is this? She's cute... When'd you start baby sitting?" he asked Shadow.

Shadow giggled softly and shook his head, "I never started babysitting, this is Shayla's, Shayla's and mine. She got pregnant a month after you left, I asked her to marry me, she said yes, and then we got married another month later. This is your niece, James. Her name is Crystal." He said with a warm smile, petting Crystal softly and murring happily as she let out a cute murr and gave him a cute look, kissing Shayla on the lips and looking at him with warm eyes, his tail swaying softly behind him.

James looked at him in shock, "What?" was all he was able to say, "This... is your...?" he looked at him and Shayla, "I need to sit down..." he said, "This is a lot."
Matt took the duffel bag, which, was surprisingly heavy, "Jesus, what's in here?"
James smiled, "My gear, they replaced it, so I got to keep it."
Matt nodded as they all went back up to the room.

Shadow nodded and smiled as they came to the room, setting her down as she started to play with her toys, showing him his wedding ring, "Yup, she's mine, and she is the most adorable child ever. Shayla and I have been taking care of her for a while, she's four years old now. You can hold her if you would like. Crystal." He said with a smile, kneeling down and motioning her to come over to him. She nodded and ran over to him, him picking her up and looking at her with a smile, she asked, "Daddy?" In a cute tone. He smiled warmly and offered her to him, saying, "Sweetheart, I'd like you to meet your uncle, James." He said with a smile, letting him take her and her looking up at him with a cute look and yelping out adorably, "Uncle Jamesy!" With a wide smile, cuddling into his shoulder.

James smiled and hugged her, "Hey Crystal." he said, still grasping the fact he had a niece, he set her down and watched her run off, "Dang... I leave after saving your life and now you're a dad..." He smiled and opened the suitcase and he handed him two purple hearts. "I guess I should tell you that I'm not necessarily unharmed..." he took off his cap, and unbuttoned his coat, then he lifted his shirt, showing a bandage across his chest, "Car bomb." he said, putting his shirt down and buttoning back up, "The other one I got because I was shot in the leg." He looked at the briefcase, "Oh, and wanted to give you something." he took the duffel bag and milled around in it, "They gave me a whole bunch of crap... but." he made sure Crystal wasn't looking, and he pulled out a pistol, "I figured you'd want a souvenir." he said, handing him the gun, "I don't need it."

Shadow looked at the pistol and smiled, taking it and murring softly, hugging him and cuddling into him softly, "Thank you, James. All I care about is that you're home, alive." He said with a wide smile, setting it on the table so Crystal couldn't see it or take it. He went back to James and smiled widely, "So, did you meet any friends while you were in the Marines? Make any friends or more?" He asked with a warm smile, his tail swaying softly as he kept a hold of Shayla's hand.

James scratched his head, "Well..." he said, "I met a lot of guys, but..." he sighed, "I met this one girl who might knock any minute now." he kinda looked nervous about it.
A couple minutes later, there was a knock on the door, and James answered it, "Hey" he said, letting in a woman, it was a normal fox, and she was rather pretty, but she looked bored.
"Guys, this is Scarlet." he said, standing next to her.
Matt looked at his phone, "Oops, gotta go." he said, not explaining why. It was probably to meet that nurse again.

Shadow smiled warmly and offered his hand to Scarlet, "Hello, Scarlet. I'm Shadow, James' best friend. It's great to meet you." He said with a wide smile, his tail swaying softly as he waited for her to shake his hand, Crystal running and playing around and looking cute as usual.

James nodded, "Well, I'm going to go get some food." he said, walking out of the room, and then Shayla sighed, "Crystal wants to go to the park. I'll take her." she stood up and left, as Crystal waved, "Bye daddy!"
Scarlet looked at his hand for a second before shaking it, "Hey." she said, seeing everyone gone, she sat down. "Hm..." she looked around.

Shadow nodded and kissed Shayla on the cheek before waving goodbye to them, murring softly as he shut the door behind them. He walked over to the couch and sat down next to Scarlet, turning on the Xbox and starting to play Halo again, his tail swaying as he looked at Scarlet with a smile, "So, how did you meet James, Scarlet? He's a very nice person, and you're lucky to have him, you know." He said with a wide smile, continuing to play his game.

Scarlet shrugged, "I saw him a week ago, he was getting ready to come here, and I decided he would be alright." she said, then she smiled, she leaned closer, "I'm bored..." she said, wrapping an arm around him.

Shadow smiled warmly down at her and grabbed a controller, offering it to her, "Well, you want to play with me in Halo, Scarlet?" He asked with his usually sweet tone, his tail swaying softly as he could grow to like his best friend's new girlfriend.

Shadow stared at her with a confused look, tilting his head, "W-What are you getting at, Scarlet?" He asked with a slightly scared tone, starting to feel a little uncomfortable as he shuddered inside.
