Fun fact: Aleta's full name sounds like "I'll eat a rose." As in... nom nom nom a thorny flower? Ow. Well, at least it's not something like "Seymor Butts" or "Dixie Normus."

Note: Find a new last name for the graphic novel cannon. Translate "rose" into elvish? Yeeesss.... emotion_dowant

Edit: There is no Sindarin translation for "Rose" but in the Drow language, it's "Cryso." ... Just avoid over-angsting, Duri, or else someone is going to call her "Aleta Crysomuch"

Naming a character is like naming a child, you want it to sound nice and be "Bully proof."

Yeah. I'm so changing her name in the future.

Huh. I should write some Ele facts.

I like to run through hypothetical situations with my characters in my head just to see how they might react. These include: Aleta meeting a surviving member of her family, Key being that family member (.... it could work, actually. We don't know his last name, but we do know that he's an orphan.), one of them drops out of the picture (that actually happened recently), or what would happen if Aleta and Raphiel had a baby (Which I discovered would be a bad idea since Aleta is sort of unstable.), or if someone died (I have death scenarios for everybody) Some of these scenarios might happen in the RP if I get a chance to write them, or they'll be unusable and nonsensical, basically like head canon or fanfic (most of them end up like that). Sometimes I go to what happened previously and imagine what would've happened if it turned out differently. Right now, I've been thinking about stuff involving my side characters since I'm trying to figure out who they are.

The Rothmores used to be a rip-off of the Shadow Hunters in The Mortal Instruments. I used to rip off of stuff a lot, actually. I just borrowed ideas from the books I was reading, none of them were so blatant as that one, though. I never ripped a whole character or plotline. I don't do that anymore, however the traps in Love Each Other or Perish were loosely based off of the pods in Mockingjay, though I didn't copy an actual trap from that book. No, those traps were high tech and a lot scarier. I don't like it when others rip off of other authors, and I wish to smack my past self for doing so.

I read TV Tropes a lot. It gives me ideas and lets me know what to avoid in my own writing, or at least what to be careful with. It also lets me identify what story parts I'm using and put a name to them. Like Alondrel matches the character trope of Agent Peacock, and we used Watching Rome Burn very early on. I also had a vilian that crossed The Moral Even Horizon, and he Would Harm a Child.

I have a good Mary Sue detector and I get self conscious when Sue qualities in my character come out. This character type annoys me, as well as rape getting thrown into the backstory.

Unlike Duri, I like backstories with my characters. But wheather or not a character has one depends on their level of importance and whether or not they need them.

I'm lazy when it comes to reading RP's. I only read my partners' posts even when another character could interact with mine. I'm working on changing that, though.

I am a critic. I'm sorry about that.

I cringe whenever I think of a craptastic bit of past writing. It could be from a year ago to last week.

So, I've been doing some research on names lately, mainly out of curiosity.

Duri, did you name Midori after a fruity liquor on purpose?

Also, another meaning to Aleta's name is... "Footloose" or "Small winged one" alongside "Truth."

Mary actually means "Sea of bitterness" Well... that's fitting. I mentioned the whole thing with the word "mammary" before. For a name that sounds so ordinary, she has the most meaningful name out of anybody. Aside from June which means "heavenly" and she's and angel. Duh.

Elroy means "the king."

Aleta's father's name, Tobias means "God is good." Her brother's is "Strength of God." ... That is a weird coincidence. Her mother's name, Lyra, means "Harp/lyre".

... Most of my names are either elvish or nonsense. The human names I give elves are pretty uncommon, by the way. xD They only sound elvish.

I'll look up any one else's name, I'll just look through the character profiles... Oh, and "Bishop" just means.... "bishop", or "one who serves the bishop". Brig comes up as a made up name, or it is a "Ship's prison." or... something. I don't know boaty terms.

We have little touches of symbolism in this thing, I figure the moon could be a fitting symbol for Aleta.

The moon is also the symbol of the patron deity of good-aligned surface-dwelling dark elves, and she is one of those.

The moon is the brightest object in the night sky and is associated with morality and purity. Since Aleta's powers are light-based, thus she is associated with light and is also the most moral of the Gunmetal Mercenaries, well... something that is seen as a light in the darkness all over the planet is fitting for her (not that she's made of purity. She is just a lighter shade of grey, as she is not a pacifist and will kill anyone who stands in her way of killing a bad guy, and is willing to commit crimes to survive.).
