Darsh smiled again. If only they knew what he planned to do with it. "Good. All is settled then. I will be waiting outside for the delivery of his corpse."
With that, Darsh vanished again in a veil of ashes.

After the disapearance, The preacher stard down Bakkar, Bakkar looked at the preacher. There was a new determination in the preacher's gaze, as if the man had found himself tonight.
"Melissa Faulkner is in the care of Evan White, CEO of Raven Industries, you might know him. All former Yaits Corporation property has been left to her, once this is over, I expect you to accept that, and move on with your life. Ymiristan is over after this battle, but, in the meantime, you have to protect this city as long as you can."
"Do what you have to do," Bakkar said understandingly. "I'll do what I can to protect everyone."
A pallete truck was delivered to the front lobby, at the front was a crate labeled caution. Inside the crate was a storage chamber containing a putrid purple lump of latex flesh and disintigrated bones in fould smelling liquid. There was one eye left in the flesh, gleaming like glass. The elite guard continued with the package as they positioned it in the center of the lobby, Captain Russell Delarion of HQ Security Falcon One, and his elite platoon, handled the security for the transfer. The preacher was with them.

"What a mess."
Darsh materialized in the front lobby. Of course, he would have taken a peek inside to make sure it truly was the remains of Edward Yaits, which would draw the remark. He turned to the preacher and nodded his head.
"Pleasure doing business with you boys."
A circle of ash surrounded Darsh and the crate, rising up into a wall and enveloping them, cloding off at the top and forming a dome. It then all fell to the floor. The crate and Darsh were both gone. The ashes would fly out through the door, as if blown by a gust of unfelt wind.
* * *
The assault on Yaits City was ended, though it would likely take some time to repair the damage. The airships that had been destroyed in the battle were nothing but charred husks, their magics burned out, nothing left to salvage except for a few scraps of rare, otherworldly metals. The remains of the undead forces would eventually rot and decay, becoming a part of the land. The proper blessings would prevent it from being tainted by their corruption. However, not all of the Horde army had been destroyed.
Rising out of the wreckage of the Draconis, General Stormblade - The Black General - looked upon Yaits City, but felt neither disappointment nor regret. It was just another battle to him. You win some, and you lose some. Summoning a demonic steed - a Nightmare - to materialize before him, the Black General mounted it and rode off, making his way speedily back toward the necropolis under the remaining hours of darkness.

Thunderclouds suddenly gathered overhead, kicking up a gust and rumbling, threatening to storm. "All I asked for was a simple request. A single corpse. What do I get instead? LIES!" The Black Mage, Darshendros, materialized in a veil of ash on the streets, standing before the entrance to the Pentagon. "Perhaps you truly don't value the lives of all these innocent people. What a shame. Worry not, I will guide their souls... to Gehenna."Raising his arms to the sky, Darshendros rattled off a long chain of spidery sounding words, each syllable, each arcane word of power, making the clouds above rumble with fury. A minute later, it would begin to rain. The city, in a two-mile radius around where Darshendros stood, would begin to burn, as it started raining fire. Epic Spell Rain of Fire Evocation [Fire] Spellcraft DC: 50 Components: V, S Casting Time: 1 minute Range: 0 ft. Area: 2-mile-radius emanation Duration: 20 hours Saving Throw: Reflex negates (see text) Spell Resistance: Yes
This spell summons a swirling thunderstorm that rains fire rather than raindrops down on the character and everything within a two-mile radius of him or her. Everything caught unprotected or unsheltered in the flaming deluge takes 1 point of fire damage each round. A successful Reflex save results in no damage, but the save must be repeated each round. Unless the ground is exceedingly damp, all vegetation is eventually blackened and destroyed, leaving behind a barren wasteland similar to the aftermath of a grass or forest fire. The fiery storm is stationary and persists even if the caster leaves.

The pentagon would suffer little from the fire rain, as fire can't burn through cement and metal. The half of the city around the pentagon would have much more trouble with this, the fire patrols, protected by the spiritual sheilds offered by the temple guardians, worked overtime.
The pentagon itself was surrounded by roads and parks, the parks were left to burn themselves out, as they were for the most part surrounded by the roads and not adjacent to any flammable structures.
As for the inner city, most of the structures were made of steel or stone, these were new, very modern buildings, with full fire protection, none of which were very tall either, as Yaits city was a sprawling expanse with no sky-scrapers.
As long as people took shelter, and the fire crews did their work, the people of the city could wait out the vengeful storm.
The preacher sighed before going out into the city to help create barriers to protect the fire crews and civilians caught in the cross fire.
The elites took shelter inside the HQ.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"First we have freaks, now we have fires," General Bakkar muttered, "I'm getting too damn old for this. Time for me to retire. Maj General Howard, I'm promoting you to General and leaving you in charge of military ops. You are to oversee the disarmanent, and the peaceful transition of this city to the Gaian government doesn't need an old man like me anymore, besides, I have a bad name with the Gaian government no. I'm indirectly responsible for some terrible war crimes and atrocities that Yaits had a hand in. I'll be turning myself in to be tried for my part those crimes."
One of the secuity officers stood up to protest, the optimistic young woman who had monitered the screens, who was a good forty years younger than him.
"No, I won't accept that. You just helped to save the world! Doesn't that make you a hero. General, I love you, I won't allow it. You have to stay here and help make things right. For Ymir!"
"Don't even say that name to me, ever again!" the General hollered, "What is wrong with you Second Lieutenant Zemia, are you dense? I'm too damn old to be your father, much less your beau. You people make me sick!"
With that, the General walked out, the woman following stubornly, the hatch slid closed behind him, the officer following.
General Bakkar muttered angrily to himself as he approached his personal chamber, pulling an vial from his pocket, incribed in the plastic was: Three Drops. Yaits had told him it would be for the best if he was a younger man, and left it up to him wether he wished to take it or not. Up until now, General Bakkar had held off from using the water, now he was considering it again, as a way out. The world would be looking for a man in his mid sixties, not a young guy. It was too easy, had to be another trick, he dropped the vial and kept going to his chambers.
He rubbed his chest to combat the growing pain resonating through it and down his left arm. He belched, relieving some of the pressure. Bakkar was a vigorous old man, but the stress of carrying around a portion of Yarneth's power and then suddenly losing it had injured his heart. Many of the arteries that were already partially clogged were injured from the stress, and his recent burst of activity in defense of Ymiristan had not helped. Bakkar desperately needed a rest, he had great stamina, but there was only so far a sixty three year man could push himself. He was on the verge of his first heart attack as he approached his chambers, but he didn't take time to think about it, he just wanted to take a nap.
There was no way he could know that a slight tear in his weakened pulminary artery was hemoraging blood into the pericardium and slowly drowning his heart. As he went into his chambers, he sat down out of breath.
Lieutenant Zemia pushed her way in, preventing the hatch from closing.
"Are you okay sir, you don't look to good?"
"I'm fine, just a little tight, why don't you go back..........."
He collapsed face first, and she turned the old man over, she felt for a pulse, it was very weak, but there, it sounded strange, like there were muffled gurgles and squishies in side his chest. She never knew he was a heart attack risk, he had seemed so healthy. She had to call for help, but the general had a hold of her arm and said no. The hold was breif, she pulled out the plastic bottle and hastily sprayed the contents in his mouth, then made a call for help, was no more than on the phone line when she watched Bakkar get up as nothing had happened, and dust himself off.
"General, is that you?"
She hung up, was it her imagination, or was the old General slowly becoming a total hunk.
"Damn," The General said, his voice no longer scratchy, he had received a dosage calibrated to make him 18 years old again, physicaly. He would age normally from there though. "Did you give me that water?"
"The medicine?" she blinked.
"That water could've killed you! Are you crazy!"
She hugged him joyously, as if a fantasy had come true. "I want you to run away with me!"
"You really are crazy," he said, but her offer was hard to resist, he was a man after all, "Then again, what the hell. Let's try for an escape."
Status Report: (Conclusions and Problems)
For a day or so, it rained fire on Yaits City, then the clouds finaly cleared, new clouds came, and there was regular rain. Being the highest ranking official left in the city after the disappearance of Dr. Iskugawa and General Bakkar, he organized a recover effort of both a physical, economic, and spiritual nature. A basic plan was agreed upon and publicized.
As a sign of good will to the rest of the world, all Ymiristani forces in Barthovos that were not already withdrawn were pulled back into the city proper.
Military cutbacks were announced and a plea was sent to the Gaian republic for a permanent peace treaty.
All Yaits corporation property except the pentagon that had been nationalized in Ymiristan was privatized. Former Yaits Corporation property was held in trust by the preacher for Melissa 'Yaits'. This included the Guldor rigs, the stalled space program, insurance offices in other cities, a few casinos in Yaits city, and all the munitions factories in Yaits city to be privatized for peaceful civilian ownership that used to be Yaits enterprises. Status of the main citadel was sticky point between military and corporate, and would have to be worked out carefully, as well as negotiated with the other nations.
Ymiristan was bankrupt from the military build-up, ways would have to be resolved to deal with the debt. Yaits corporation, once reprivatized under it's new ownership, would also be in terrible fiscal shape.
Military property would remained part of Ymiristan national defense.
The hospital, which had remained undamaged during the conflict, went into overtime to process casualties.
Repairs were started on the damaged area's of the city proper first, pentagon repairs to be put on the back burner.
The preacher would soon announce a name change for Ymiristan, the name was like gall to him anyway. For now, it would simply be called the Western Republic.
Those trying to get on with their lives after the conflict were hungry for any news they could get. In a near classic moment, a group of citizens were gathered around a suprisingly intact TV display. News ... Week two of the Saint Agrippina crisis rages on. For those just tuning in the overlook city has been completely overrun by strange creatures in a matter of days. Slow reaction time to the crisis is blamed on the Agrippina government who simply assumed this was somehow related to the recent zombie threat in Ymiristan. Regular zombie combat measures failed, and a full evacuation of the city began. Most citizens fled to West Fall City, or remained to undergo intense training as part of the Agrippina Defence Force. Stranger still, some chose to remain behind in the city and rumours are circulating that they are assisting the monsters that have taken over the city. The ADF recommends if you know someone who has remained in the city to cut off all contact with them. In a suprise event the Alpha through Epsilon Corporation pledged support to the ailing city. "The ADF has a noble goal of containing and eventually eliminating this strange new occurrence," A representative from the company told Gaia 9 Action News, "And if the threat is not contained, it could very well spread and endanger much more. Alpha through Epsilon has a duty to our employees and customers to maintain their safety." The company had a laboratory in the city and has now pledged medical, construction and combat technology. Now in lighter news...
Herm looked out among the people with a blank look that struck many as being intensely sad. She rested her hands atop one another on her podium before speaking. There were no notes in front of her
"The people of Western Gaia, most of whom are extremely new to this land, have achieved much. We have been posperous, and have gained independence. We have opened our borders to refugees of all types, and have shown them comfort in harsh times. Many prosthetic users and bots from Aekea have escaped here and found a new freedom, a new level of dignity and respect, as Western Republic citizens. The refugees from St. Agrippina are being given homes and subsidies, so that they can incorporate into our new republic, but are able to go home when the situation in that city stabilizes. The charitable order, supported by the WR government, has done much to provide social services for those who find themselves destitute. There was a great vision in the founding of this republic, one that can be utilized to bring much good for the world.
That said, there are some things that need to change. Government spending on the military must be drastically reduced to cut the national debt, and these secret military projects conducted in the pentagon need to be brought to light. Western Republic's foreign policy has been an unmitigated disaster, and the world veiws this new nation with mistrust and disfavor. We must repair our relations.........."
"Miss Herm, you are out of time, Miss Helena Yaits of the Yaits Party, your opening statement please."
"Yes thank you," Hearn said in her brusque voice before waisting a few seconds coughing, then shifting her notes. "Yaits was a great man. He founded this republic, and these "so called" candidates wish to take his memory and rip it to shreds. We don't need a party with the rest of the world, Barton and what's its face, and etc..... Now, here's the deal, people are not going to sit by and take it as these other "so called" candidates slander the Yaits name. These "so called" candidates have already dishonored this nation by changing the name from Ymiristan, and Yaits City. If I am elected, we will imediatly be known as Ymiristan again, and this city will be called Yaits City, or my name isn't Helen Yaits. These "so called" candidates are a sham, a total sham to the our beloved leader Edward Yaits III. Edward Yaits was a god, is a god, and always will be a god. How dare these "so called" candidates, question his authority. And we will not back down, Edward Yaits III saw the need for a strong military to combat the evils of the elected governments that these "so called" candidates are trying to force upon us. And we will not back down, from the Aekea crisis. And we will not back down, from fighting the undead. We will not.........."
"Miss Yaits you are out of time......"
"But I'm not finished!"
"You are out of time, Miss Yaits, please yeild the floor."
"Fine."
"Delta Manning of the Reunification party will now give her opening statement."
"I only have a few simple facts to state here," she said, her thoughts were that Yaits had bastardized this land and the people here lured he, but she wouldn't dare say it openly. "Many will critize me for saying this, but we are a nation that remains unrecognized by most of the world, and a nation that should not exist in the first place. We have created an arms race on the continent that is draining the budget of our nation and we are fast becoming unable to handle the increasing social burdens of increasing poverty, crime, and the refugee crisis. And what good came of all this talk of war with the Gaian Republic, nothing, our previous leader has failed in this respect, making the world a less safe place for all of its citizens......."
"How dare you defile the name of Edward Yaits III, you'll ........."
"Miss Yaits, this is not......."
"That b***h just............"
"One more word and you'll be removed! Please continue Mrs Manning,"
"My opponent doesn't muster quite the same elequance as our former dictator," Mrs Manning quipped coyly, but there was no further outburst, "As you can see, our leadership in this republic has taken a decided turn for the worst. If I am elected, I will see to it that we are once again fully integrated into the Gaian Republic, and will do so with the rights of all former Aekeans who have taken shelter here in mind. Let me assure you that I am firmly devoted to the rights of prosthetic users, and will not abandon your cause. I will disband all military operations and projects, and my sunshine policy will bring a light upon whatever has been brewing in the Pentagon. After we have cleaned the instalation out, we will hand it over to the Gaian government for use has a fortress against the undead threat. Under no circumstances will I allow the pentagon to return to the control of the Yaits Corporation, as all my opponents have desired to do. That is all for now."
((Trying something new, feel free to ask a question as a press corp member, and I'll have the candidate of your choice respond.))
It was Slatsky's turn to speak, her notes were ordered. She was a woman in a pale blue business suit wearing a plain pearl neckless and diamond studded gold earrings. She smiled slightly, her look made it plain and clear that she had important things to say.
"Fellow citizens of Western Gaia, There has been much talk in this campaign about disbanding a military force that has recently saved Gaia from an undead invasion. Hearn and her collegue Manning, seem to think that the Gaian Republic, whose leadership fiddled while our city burned, will be our protective salvation.
Yes, our nation is in crisis, but not a crisis of its own or the previous leadership's making. Indeed, if it wasn't for the previous military buildup, we would not have been able to prevent this city from beeing overrun. The undead have attacked Lament, and they have attacked us. Our city has no walls to protect it, and yet we managed to decimate a force easily three hundred time larger than what assaulted Lament. I am proud of our military, and I will not punish it for a victory, especially when we are still at war!
Like my opponents,I favor seperating the Yaits Corporation. Corporations were meant to sell people things, not run nations. The pentagon complex was built with tax money Yaits collected when he established this colony, and thus belongs to the people. All damage will be repaired, and it will become the military headquaters of our nation. The pentagon is a citadel that has stood up against the most viscious umdead attack in the history of Gaia, I will not abandon it!"
There was a cheer through the audience, most liked what they were hearing.
"Funding for our airforce and navy has been cut by ninty percent. We need to continue funding the air force and navy at full pre-election levels. We need more planes and ships. We can't sit here and wai too be attack again. We can not depend on foreign nations to help us. We have the ability to take the fight to the enemy if we have to purify every square inch of the northernlands with our own blood. We can show the world that we are a nation of pioneers and rugged individualists, and that we mean business when it comes to protecting our people from undead terrorists!"
There was another wave of clapping among the gathered people, others were booing, it seemed only the gathered journalists were remaining nuetral.
We must prosecute this war to the fullest. If not, they will bring the fight to us. How many people have died holding off the undead attack, do want their deaths to be in vain. I won't allow it. You can boo me, or cheer, or say what you will, but I will not stop until we are completely victorious, until there is no such thing as a Necropolis or an undead on Gaia. This will be done with, or without the cooperation of the other nations. i wanted to speak on the refugee crisis, but my time is almost up, I yeild the balance for questions.
"The candidates will not take pre-submitted questions from audience members. But First the members of the press will be allowed to ask random questions from a candidate of their choice."
~~~~Lab 5, The Citadel~~~~
A closed meeting room, dimly lit, with little amenities, behind closed doors.
"What do you think of the elections?" Science Team Member number seven asked.
"Bah," said STM # 1 "We need to assure that Slatsky wins, that woman who wants to be Yaits is hopeless. As of now, the only reason Slatsky has a hold is because is because the opposition is divided between the Charitable Order and the Reintigration stances. Too bad robots and syntethics don't have voting rights here, we'd be on easy street. If they hand this facility over to eastern gaia, we'll all hang. Still, there are many undecideds, and I've already arranged something to influence their vote."
"What about Iskugawa?" asked STM # 3
If he's still alive, then R.I.O.T. is saving him for something. Not only is his loss staggering, but it gives them specific knowledge of minute details into most of our programs. Not only that, it exposes the flaws and strengths of each weapon's program, giving the enemy valuable information on what to exploit."
"What about.... our Leviathans?" asked STM #9
"You mean the weapon we named after the stadium, right? The Leviathan's will have to be redesigned to improve performance and shift the vulnerabilities, that should keep them most effective. I don't think even R.I.O.T. or FELD has the time or desire to build such monstrosities. I didn't think they were worth the time myself, but they can be made into an asset if we utilize them correctly. They are all but immposible to get over mountian terrain unless a rail line is pre-installed, and they would be vulnerable in such territory. So attacking the undead necropolis with them is out, still, our big little toys would be perfect for, say, defending the homeland so we could put our forces elsewhere, or possibly even an attack on Durem, if it was ever needed."

A closed meeting room, dimly lit, with little amenities, behind closed doors.
"An attack on Durem would be foolish," STM # 11 said, "We'd be playing right into the hands of the undead, even if we prevailed, and we could ever hold the city without control of Aekea."
"We'll develop the western mines," STM # 3 said, "We practically have our own industrial center right here."
"Yes, a big sitting target, this city is the only developed land in all our territory besides West port and a few small fishing outposts we can barely call villages." STM #9 said.
"It matters little," STM # 2 said, "No one would dare attack the city directly, we have the citadel, and our air defense would make mince meat of any armada."
"You seem to be forgeting the infiltration of R.I.O.T., they bust in and took our property like it was nothing, even kidnaping Dr. Iskugawa. I believe thay came via air, and left via runes. Aren't you also the one heading runic defenses to nuetralize all such escapes and attacks. Well... you're work leaves.........."
STM #1 pounded his fist on the metal table, sending reverberations across the room. "Enough! This petty bickering gets us nowhere. Dr. Heal, give us your report on the Oceanic disturbances, that should lighten the atmosphere a bit."
"Yes, yes," STM # 7 said, "I received reports and pictures back from Latent. Our marine biologists seems to beleive a new species of enhanced plankton is behind the oceanic disturbances. The fish are biting back and attacking all human intrusion into the ocean, even the water is attacking. A sewage outlet we installed near the ocean was found clamped shut, and seems to be the source of several backed sewer lines and some recent flooding. The oil rigs off the coast of Guldur we're attacked as well, seemingly by a gigantic squidlike monster. All the worlds harbors have been shut down, while Gaia can substitute with land based food production, we have suffered. As 41 percent of our domestic food supply was supplied by the West Port and the other harbors in the west."
"And what are you doing about the problem?" STM #1 asked.
"Whatever is attacking humans is also cleaning the ocean. This "plankton" follows pollution and eats it, so to speak. We are sending a fully equipped team to the Northernlands to investigate the situation, as runoff from the northernlands is far more foul than most human pollution, and is continual, our man in the feild beleives he will obtain a sample, which has been immpossible up to now."
"Good," STM # 1 said, "We need to get our ports producing food again, and stop the risk of our navy being destroyed by the ocean itself. At the very least, we need to come up with some counter measure to desfend our navel assets. West Fall has already lost a nuclear submarine right into the hands of the Gaian Republic and suffered an embarresing international incident because of this stupidity."

"Cyborg production has come to a halt, but the facilities to commence production of the Super-Soldat Mark F-I are in place. We can produce one thousand units per month right here in this facility, but considering 'supply limitations' we can only build 200 units, and build no further unless further supplies and support are provided. Something tried to hack into our Super-Soldat system, but was detected and entry was forbidden." Said STM # 3.
"Have the 200 units ready for activation ASAP," STM # 1 said, "Make sure you include a few of the Proto Mark D-II models. They're mobility will prove usefull and make for a good mix. You never know when something will come up. They may prove useful. Now, what about this Necropolis hornet's nest?"
"The military is still sending us information, thank Ymir," said STM #6, "They found a project on the surface, seems the undead are making a new nest. The military is going to launch a cruise missile strike while they are building. Other than that, our response seems rather meek, seeing as they could be building another Omega Weapon."
"I highly doubt they have the sophistiction," said STM # 3, "Dr. Iskugawa seemed to think it was something they dug up, a one time feal. The pilot had massive powers, seeing as he teleported himself into the building. Probably a high class necromancer who used his powers to operate it."
"Yes, another intrusion thanks to our defective runic defenses." STM # 9 said.
STM # 2 put his hands on the table with a low grumble.
"That brings us to the mater of the FELD," STM # 11, "They seem to be a base for attacking Meta-humans with this new mobile suit technology. Do we have a counter if they turn on our armies?"
"We have the Mobile Fortresses, the Leviathans," STM # 9, "Equip them with fully rotating particle cannons and you basically have an Anti-Mobile Suit. They are practically moving power plants already, so the power specs for the guns could easily be meet while they were stationary. I'm working on a particle sheild to protect the cannon when they are not firing."
"They'll have to do, even though their mobility leaves something to be desired. But I doubt FELD will interfere in any human conflict, and they certainly won't hinder a nation atttacking the undead. We just have to make sure we become that nation!" STM # 1 said.
"Now," STM # 1 asked, smiling slightly. "What are we going to do about these R.I.O.T. Butinskis, and when are we going to start taking some action to find Dr. Iskugawa?"
