Lillian's head swirled back into reality when she heard Callysto ask if she meant the poem. As if on a cue, her voice came out dry and parched-sounding. She swallowed and said what was on her mind because she couldn't think of anything else to say, or any other way to put it.
" Callysto...you do know it took me mere minutes to write the poem...it isn't because I like poetry, though I do."
She swallowed again, and her breath came out raspy as she struggled for more words to say...she wanted to tell the truth desperatly, but what if Callysto was taken aback? What if it was Callysto now, that had the chance to say no...
"It's because...I wrote it quickly because...we-ll...S-since it's beenonmymind...since...it's easy to say something and write something quickly that you'vebeenthinking forawhile..."
