True enough I suppose. But then again, it's hard to compare. For one, the Eagle hasn't been in a real shooting war. Not the likes of The World Wars, Korea, Vietnam, etc.
Plus it'd have nowhere near the numbers that the planes of the world wars had. You'd be talking about tens of thousands of kills for the Wildcat, against perhaps a couple dozen, maybe hundreds, for the Eagle.
Plus, if you're like me, firing missiles at a blip on a radar hardly counts as a real 'kill' in my mind. sweatdrop The guy on the carrier could have done the same thing with a SAM.
Heh, I just really admire the old pilots. Before seeking missiles, radar guided munitions, fights from beyond visual range. That took a lot of guts, and a lot of skill.
And as a few pilot friends of mine have said "Without Radar and GPS, the modern air force couldn't find its a** in the dark with both hands".
Whee, and since text doesnt' have tone I'd like to mention I'm not trying to be antagonistic here, or insulting anyone of their choice of craft. Just a friendly conversation.

Well it does just matter on what your taste in aircraft are eh? Besides its the technology available at the time that dicates the combat. I have an immense amount of respect for the guys that fought in those wars. It takes serious balls to be able to do that kind of thing.

I suppose so. Personally if I was in the skies, I'd want the cutting edge. Well, unless you're talking about something like the SR-71 which still can't be touched by anything.
But if you're talking about a persoid like say, Vietnam, I'd rather have a F-8 Crusader over a F-4 Phantom. Or a Thunderchief. Especially over a Thunderchief.
But there is still something to it. The old gun fighter craft. Something nostalgic. The Sky Knight Ideal, you know? sweatdrop It's alluring to me. More alluring than a F22 Raptor (And I do like the Raptor).

The Raptor is one amazing machine. Of course everyone loves the sky knight ideal. John Wayne.... Tora Tora Tora!! Pearl Harbor...
Of course my personal fave will always be the Eagles.

Trailer looks interesting. It would be a nice motivational series to get me back into the Macross/Robotech series.

But I think it is...or at least is somewhat related to the series of the Robotech Masters or something.

*will have to look up Final Countdown...and is also definitely getting Shadow Chronicles*
Time to unveil my evil plot to save the world. (Just you wait til it's unfurled!)
Over the next month, I'll be working on a project called The Watch. The Watch is a multi-faction group comprised of all GNG subfactions and the GPD, tasked with patrolling the threads of Gaia that want us there. I've spoken with Bolt about it, working on the GPD's other leaders now.
The Watch will require a seperate background application, since we'll be going into other people's threads and RPing in there. More details as I come up with them. 3nodding

Quote: The Gaian Defenders have always been around. We have always sought to protect the weak, to secure our homes. Our goals are noble, our actions just. We are the cornerstones of society, the strength on which Gaians build their hopes and dreams. We are Gaia's Police and AeroSpace Defense Force, Gaia's Army, Navy, and Marines. Once scattered by fate, once again united by purpose: To patrol those threads which form the tapestry that is Gaia. We are the Watch.
