Charlie nodded. "I know right? Totally pathetic on my part." She shrugged. "Wasn't so bad though. Lost a bet. Shame." She sighed.
Butthen she couldn't help but laugh again. "OH I'm sure you whip Maddie all the time. Surely she's beast in bed." She even went on to say, "Is that why I wasn't good enough? Too virginal for you?"
That would do it huh? Maybe she'd hit a sore spot now.

When you keep it all on mute
How will I know the right way to love you? Jay continued to laugh, but nervously this time. "Whip Maddie?" He narrowed his eyes. "I wasn't sure about how I felt about you at the time. When you confess something as big as that...well, most often a person is surprised."
Jay reached for Charlie. "I didn't mean to react the way I did. I was just really shocked."

Charlie stepped back, out of his reach. "Really shocked my a**. Okay? Seriously?" She sighed. "We can never be what we used to be, can we?"
She shook her head. "I want my best friend back." God! She felt like such a girl! She missed how she used to be with Jay.
"I should have never told you." She turned to go inside.
"You might as well go and start apologizing to your girlfriend. May take awhile to get back on her good side."
Though, all he'd have to do is drop to his knees like a chick and do whatever she asked.

I don't feel the same with Maddie as I do with you. With Maddie, it feels like an act. You? So natural. Natural and comfortable and warm..."
Jay reached out a hand and brushed it down her shoulder to her wrist. "Please. Maybe we could make it work?" His voice went even deeper. "Please?"

Charlie stopped.
"That excuse is s**t." She growled.
And then he was trying to pull the wool over her eyes with sweet words.
It was too late for that!
His hand slid down her arm and held on her wrist.
She whipped around, yanking her arm from him.
"I'm not a marinette Jay. You can't pull strings and make me do what you want me to. Its not that easy."
Her eyes were wild again, raging. "You don't understand how hard this is for me." She muttered.
"But I have Landon. You have Maddie. Whether you like it or not its reality."

Charlie shook her head. "Don't even do that. Don't try and make me the bad person here. You're the one that chose Jay." She sighed.
"I was there, the whole ******** time. And then I told you how I felt. And what did you do? Picked Maddie. Picked other girls. Not me. It was never me." She groaned.
"You were probably right. You should just go." She crossed her arms, unintentionally. Though, this could be a flirty move. She meant it nothing like that.
Her smallish chest, was kind of inhanced in this particular spot.

Charlie couldn't help it. He was walking away, leaving here there alone.
She didn't want that. She didn't want to lose her best friend.
Boys came and went right? So what if Landon didn't last quiet as long as she'd like? Then who did she have?
Really? She had no girl friends. Jay was all she had left, always had been her best friend.
She couldn't help it.
She ran over and stopped him dead in his tracks, pulling him into a kiss. Soft, delicate. Nothing that described her. But it was short lived.
She had been dying to do that for years now.
And as her eyes fluttered open and she caught Jay's face she bit down on her lip, turned and took off for her house.
What the hell did I just do?!
Yeah, way to not make things more complicated.

How do I get closer to you?
When you keep it all on mute
How will I know the right way to love you?Jay heard then thumping of footsteps behind him. Before he had time to turn around, Charlie was stopping him in his path. Jay's expression contorted in confusion. Didn't she want him to leave? Apparently not. Because the next thing he knew Charlie was kissing him.
It was soft and sweet and not at all forceful. Jay responded, going to wrap his arms around her. God, something about her lips tasted real good. Not to mention she wasn't rough like Maddie.
All too soon, Charlie was pulling away. Her eyes peered into his. Jay gasped softly. She ran away from him to her house. Oh no. He wasn't going to let her go. Not this time.
Jay jogged after her and caught up easily. He caught her wrist and pulled her strongly, and tried to be gentle when he pulled her, to him. Ever so gently, his lips brushed hers.

Charlie was pulled backwards and Jays arms were around her waist. Before she could say anything his lips were on hers again.
She moved her lips carefully on his, savoring his taste.
Her body melted in his arms but then she realized what was going on.
Charlie pulled back, wiggling out of his arms. "No. Stop. We can't. Maddie is your girlfriend still. And Landon, he's my boyfriend."
She shook her head.
"I'm not saying I don't want this. I just can't. I can't."

How will I know the right way to love you?This was what he wanted. Jay was sure of it. He wanted Charlie. Charlie wanted this as well. She wanted him as well. This was why he had been non-responsive to Maddie. It was Charlie.
Charlie wiggled out of his arms and told him that she couldn't do this. "I understand," he said huskily, touching her cheek. He lifted her face so that she was looking up at him. "I won't force you to do anything you can't."
He leaned in and brushed a tender kiss over the tip of her nose. Jay pulled away slowly. "Charlie, if you ever need anyone, I'll always be here for you. Always."

Charlie's cheeks burned as he touched them softly. "Stop! Stop stop stop! This isn't you! You don't act all cheesy and sweet. This isn't my Jay."
She shook her head, then his lips touched her nose.
"Please. Stop it. This isn't you! I ... I" She stopped, shaking her head.
"This isn't right. I can't do this." She turned to go inside, shutting the door behind her.
She slid down it, falling to her butt and pulling out her phone.
She pressed down on the Three to call Landon, in tears.

When you keep it all on mute
How will I know the right way to love you?Jay drew away the minute Charlie shouted for him to stop. He immediately turned around and strolled down the street. It was hard for him to think. Charlie's confusion was making him extremely puzzled. Why kiss him in the first place? He knew now that her feelings for him were more than just friendship.
He wouldn't be willing to come and rescue her. Charlie would only shove him away and save herself. That's the way she was. What was he supposed to do? Wait for her? It was too late now. He had someone else. Though he did want them now. It was too late. Always too late.
