"That's true," Roydon admitted thoughtfully. "I hadn't thought of that." He shrugged. "Perhaps you should speak to Ulani and Ulrich about putting a shelter around it or something," he suggested. "I mean, there are so many people there now, and starting families and everything, that it would be logical for someone to settle in that area."

It made Lin wondered once more if Timeaus had settled down yet. She didn't know why she thought of it, but she sort of had this nagging feeling about it.

"True, with Celebor and his family there, and Adan and Rose.... and... have you heard anything about Alyse? I don't know how much you keep in contact with everyone in the Borderlands."

She was sure, she did recall something about that on her last trip to the Borderlands, but she wanted to confirm it.

"Alyse?" Roydon pursed his lips thoughtfully, resting his elbows on the oars. "I ... don't recall anything being said about her, but you never know. Though to be fair, it's Arwen who reads the letters from her family, Rose I think has finally gotten used to not having me around all the time, I haven't heard from her in a while." He chuckled. "Not since Ecthelion and Kadmiel have gotten a bit older."

He smiled at Lin. "Really though, ask Arwen when we get back. I know she doesn't bother telling me everything that goes on."

It took a few moments to sink in that someone had another child. She was so going to have to visit the Borderlands.. or at least send someone to check in on everyone for her. Well her father probably should go on another hunt and the twins were old enough (one hoped) for her mother to come along again.

"Kadmiel?" she finally asked.

She had met Ecthelion the cute little bundle of joy who seemed to know no fear and thought his father was invincible. The other name though was completely new to her.

Of course when she thought about it, logically she wouldn't have these issues if she just settled down in here. She wasn't quite sure if she was ready for that yet though.

"Rose and Adanedhel's second son," Roydon smiled. "Apparently every bit as rambunctious as Ecthelion. Interesting that they're both quite outgoing, when Rose is ... well, you know how Rose is."

He chuckled softly. His sister was so shy he was still amazed at times that she had ever gotten married.

Lin grinned at that, she didn't know Rose very well but did remember her from when they were all children. She knew Rose was a bit shy around people, but Lin didn't think she was that shy.

"Probably got it from Adan, he's always out going and as a kid would get into all sorts of things," Lin murmured.

It was great fun actually when they were kids, Adan also didn't seem to be scared of much back then.

"It would be the only logical explanation," Roydon agreed. "I know he did used to get into a lot of trouble-"

"Papa!" Leyenda called suddenly, interrupting them, "I have enough fish for dinner now."

Roydon smiled. "Then let's get back, shall we? Sit down and I'll get us back there."

Leyenda grinned and sat down on the floor of the boat, holding the spear out to Lin. "Here, would you mind putting it away for me again?" she requested.

Lin reached behind her to open the box before taking the spear from Leyenda and carefully packed it away once more. Handling something like that on a moving boat made her more wary than usual when handling a sharp object.

"So how many?" Lin asked Leyenda.

"Eight," the girl grinned proudly, "not counting the one that Senka is eating."

Earendil smiled down at the cat that was still eating out of his hand. He was also still petting her, and he had a feeling that despite her intense dislike for males in general, she might not mind him too much.

Roydon chuckled and began to turn them around and row them back to the dock. "I would expect nothing less from you, Leyenda," he smiled proudly.

Lin didn't know if that was a lot in a short time or not, but she nodded with a smile.

"I think Senka is very happy."

She could almost imagine hearing Senka nomming verbally on that fish, though the purring was very audible. No doubt even more so to those who had hearing better than hers (which was everyone on the boat really). The floor was littered in fine fish bone that Senka was wise enough not to swallow.

Earendil chuckled. "She sounds very happy," he grinned. "I just hope this will help warm her up towards me."

Leyenda grinned and ran one finger along Senka's wing. "What do you say, Senka?" she asked. "Is Earendil okay for a guy?"
PostPosted: Mon Oct 05, 2009 6:53 pm

Senka lifted her head slurping up one stray piece of fish, swallowing before answering in a very happy tone.

"He has good fingers!"

Probably the highest compliment coming from a cat, especially if it was Senka. Her wings twitched a bit as she went back to eating.

Earendil chuckled. "Well, if you're not going to eat them, then I'm happy with that," he grinned.

They arrived back at the dock then, and Kaito and Aranel were there waiting for them. They had been watching the entire time, so there was no need to ask how things had gone.

"Tie that line," Leyenda told Kaito, tossing him the mooring line. "Good and tight." She watched him, then shook her head and hopped out of the boat, onto the dock, to show him how. "Like this," she murmured, "so that it doesn't come loose."

"How was the wait?" Lin asked the two.

Actually she wanted to know what the two were doing while they were off in the boat. Even though it wasn't an insanely long time, it wasn't a quick in and out trip neither.

"It was good," Aranel said warmly. "Tinuviel and Regan went to keep Arwen company, we chatted with a few different people ..."

"I noticed that everyone here speaks the Common Tongue," Kaito commented, a little puzzled. "Not just because we do, but also with each other ... I thought that High Elven was the language of the Southland ..."

"We're a port," Roydon replied with a smile. "We do business with every other country, and they also come here from time to time. It's best if everyone feels comfortable. I think we're the only place in the entire Southland that has the Common Tongue as their official language. High Elven is spoken often in homes, but outside ... never."
