Chill out, Cale. This isnt your rp. Its the guild as a whole. You want to complain about how much work people do, go ahead, but keep it to yourself. You have DoD to worry about running.

Oh of course its not my RP.
I just came up with the idea, the faction placement, the time, the plot, and the idea that lets you guys help build the sector.
But other than that its not my RP at all.
And when you dolts actually get around to GOING INSIDE THE DOOR like you should have all done THREE WEEKS AGO, then I'll resume running DoD, assuming my currently unreliable schedule allows it.

The idea, was not entirely yours, nor was the setting, the time, or the entire plot as a whole. You came up with your terrorist idea. You did, yes, give the idea to build our own, while perhaps the entire rest of the guild involved was thinking the same thing, and when it came time to putting the Sector together, Stellar was the one who started moving first, faster than any of us, giving us the tools, and to even finished his factions system before any of us had even started.

Cool your ego, and chill out before you bust a vein somewhere.

Des, you really have no idea whats going on at all, do you?
Ignorance must be bliss.
I Came up with the RP idea over a month ago, discussed it with guild members (Mostly Nelo and Stellar) at length. I repeatedly told you lot I had a time picked out but you ignored me until you settled on the same period I origionally envisioned. Stellar used the same basic tools I used to construct my map of the Tett System back at the start of May, tools I put links to up on the guild so people could map out their own systems so we would not be left in the dark.

To be honest, I'm going to ignore Cale's insinuation. I decided I'm going to join the roleplay, and I'm going to help, whatever his opinion of me is.

What insinuation? And frankly I didn't have a bad opinion of you.

Lancers and Gunships are both about 4-5 million credits apiece. As for the Acclamator, they are only about 20-30 years old, so not really in bad shape, the Empire was still using them for a long time, and the IIs were designed as fighter carriers.

The Imps don't sell Lancers. Besides, they're so crew intensive its ridiculous. The price to staff one for an Interpol style organization is astronomical. 850 people are crammed into a 120mm quad-cannon can.
Meanwhile you get the same length of ship with the Corellian Gunship, but with turbolasers and concussion missiles, plus it can be crewed by 45 people.
Look again, the Empire was the first to utilize them along side Star Destroyers. They are still in use by both factions at this time as well. But the math there is something to consider. It holds no ships though, and if you take into account the Lancer does not require a crew of 850, that leaves room for passengers and more ships with you resize the hangers.

The Lancer still requires a crew well over 300, unlike the DP20. You're thinking the Sector Rangers are a Military Force, Des. They're cops. They don't get the same budget as an actual Military Force.

What about IPCs? They're consierably smaller, and better suited to actual patrol and police duties, which is the point if the Sector Rangers, if I'm not mistaken.

Then that isnt my fault, because I never heard a word of it until Nelo started talking to me about getting a new Rp going.

If this was so well planned out, then we wouldn't be here right now, discussing this all. The point is, you've done your brainstorming on it, just like the rest of us.
If this were anything but the next official guild Rp, I wouldn't mind letting you take the credit, but the thing is, it isn't, and your on a ego trip, insulting the work of the rest of us.

It isn't constructive criticism either, not how your saying it.

You want constructive critcism? Fine.
A Mobile Headquarters does not work for a space police force because its A. too expensive to maintain, B. too vulnerable to a concerted attack by well armed criminal groups, and C. It makes you look like pirates. Pirates use one command ship to coordinate their attacks and hide out in asteroid bases. That sends a bad PR signal and confuses the very people you're trying to protect.

If you slap in a hyperdrive it would work.
For patroling systems its better than good.

Imperial Customs also had a large number of patrol ships used to interdict smugglers and shoot up pirates.
That might bear a looking.

And I take back the Inspector thing, Des. CorSec, perhaps the best example of a Sector Ranger branch, Does employ Inspectors. Bureacratically, they're known as Special Enforcement Operatives.

Stellar, that would fit into the smaller craft they'd be using. But having at least three or so frigate capitol ships and a good amount of corvettes gives them a decent size fleet to combat pirates and the like, and watch trade routes.
PostPosted: Fri Jun 19, 2009 12:21 pm

The numbr of ships they have/need is dependant on the threat of the system.

I'd like to think a relatively peaceful, unimportant, backwater system wouldn't have two many ships for it's Sector Rangers. A few IPVs, and maybe a corvette or small frigate as a capital ship.

As for the IPV, I'd say it should be easy enough to put a hyperdrive on it. It'd probably take out a considerable proportion of it's cargo bay, though

I'm sure there are other ships avaible, I'm looking at using the Firespray as the stand patrol ships with some small fighters and basic corvettes, gunships, and maybe small frigates as the majority of the anti-piracy and smuggling fleets. Perhaps keep the one Acclamator and have two support firgates as the heavy ships.

Those IPV are looking pretty good, long as we can squeeze a hyperdrive into a few, I don't care much about the cargo space.

I think you're vastly overestimating the size of the local sector rangers. I'd imagine they have less than a hundred personnel in a quiet sector like this. Their job is to investigate a criminal group, gather information, and make an arrest. If they need muscle they call in the local cops and military. Face it the FBI has 1 Swat team for the entire country, if they need muscle they call the locals.

What the sector rangers would have would be small 1-2 man patrol craft for a team of enforcement officers and branch offices in most of the systems, again staffed by 1-2 enforcement officers. I'd think they'd fly stuff like the Purser Enforcement Ship (Slave II) and the like.

I was thinking somewhere over 2,000 or so. Because, lets be honest, there isnt much in the way of military around here, and even during the time of the Empire, its unlikely theyd commit much of it this way anyhow, forcing the Rangers to swell.
