Lorrie Etterling

She never slows down.
She doesn't know why, but
she knows that when
She's all alone, it feels
Like it's all coming down…

Lorrie smiled at Lily glad that she didn’t mind. She was just about to speak when movement in the corner of her eye made her turn her head. Blinking several times in rapid succession, Lorrie realized she was staring at some guy stripping down. Flushing, Lorrie quickly turned the other way becoming extremely interested in her cheeseburger. Was this a common occurrence at this school? She wouldn’t know, but taking a look at her friend’s face Lily seemed about as baffled about it as she. Taking a sip of her drink, Lorrie tried to ignore the fact that he had taken a seat at the end of their table.

Whispering so as not to be heard by the table’s new addition, Lorrie said confidentially if not a little worriedly, “Does this happen often?” Sneaking a glance at the guy, Lorrie saw that the other guy that had been staring at her earlier was now also sitting at the table talking. Her eyes met his for a second, and she looked away quickly letting her blonde hair swing forward hiding her face. She didn’t know what it was, but she was feeling a little uneasy. Something about the guy made her want to dart away like a startled deer, a hilarious concept, yet at the same time deeply unsettling. She was perplexed by the inkling. It was stupid. She didn’t even know him and yet once glance induced her timid side. All this drama was just freaking her out. It was just an off day for her; at least, that’s what she told herself.

A hiss and the stench of disintegrating wood interrupted her thoughts. “s**t! I mean shoot! Shoot!” Lorrie pulled her hand away from where it had been resting, and saw the perfect impression of her hand. The stress was definitely getting to her. She was leaking often enough without all this drama, and now, look at her. Destroying school property, with no control at all. Sighing, she rested her head in her hand and stared at the imprint hopelessly. She had the feeling at all this drama was going to make her acid trip soon anyways, and her power was just giving her a warning ahead of time…great.

“Acid generation,” Lorrie said in explanation wiggling her fingers as Alex approached the table. Seeing a drop of acid resting precariously on her pointer finger, Lorrie quickly popped it into her mouth and swallowed making sure she rid all her finger pores of acid. “It’s the only safe, on-hand way to get rid of it.” She said wincing at the taste. It actually wasn’t all that bad flavor wise. It was just kind of sour, but at the moment it was making her lose all appetite. Pushing her burger away from her, Lorrie took a swig of her fuze thankful that she had something to wash it down.

She won't turn around.
The shadows are long,
And she fears if she cries
That first tear,
The tears will not stop
Raining down.

Mitsukai.

“Yea, I guess you’re right. Who knows, maybe someday they’ll discover a walking plant. They did find fish that can walk-well hop-on land." Mitsukai said and giggled at that thought. She'd tottaly buy the walking plant when they discovered it. Mitsukai smiled at the complement he told her. It was nice. But he wouldn’t see her the same way much longer. Mitsukai turned so she was facing him completely. “I’m not sure what I want either.” Mitsukai admitted. She wanted him, but she wanted him happy. Somehow those two things didn’t seem like they worked together very well. Maybe she was just acting dumb. Maybe she should let it go. But it was all too confusing, all too frustrating.

Mitsukai paused at his comment. Did he really want to know? She looked in his eyes, making sure. “He was my best friend.” Mitsukai said softly, smiling at the memory. “It was Nikol, Pheebe, Cory, and I. Cory didn’t like the guys in our neighborhood. They all we’re bullies to him, so he stayed with us.” Mitsukai said and thought about the tree house they used to hang out in. “But he was always extra protective of me. Holding me back when I had my tempers. Holding me when I cried. Even pulling pranks on the bullies who teased me at school.” Mitsukai said smiling. She paused checking if he wanted to still know more, he looked like it. “He knew how to make me laugh. And he was so sensitive, never used violence. He needed me as much as I needed him. He even stayed by my side when he discovered my powers, well after he freaked out. Letting me practice on him, but I wasn’t good at it. It was so long ago when I fell in love with him, I think it was third grade. It’s hard to remember exactly what I saw in him. But he seemed like the one for me. Of course he wasn’t.” Mitsukai giggled. Being with Cory now seemed foolish. “We ended because he couldn’t handle me switching schools. He dumped me two weeks before I started going here.” She said softly. Cory wasn’t the bad guy, not now, not ever.

Maybe Lorrie wasn’t either. She stayed with Thorne when he needed her. She made him feel alive. Mitsukai knew what he saw in Lorrie, so she didn’t ask. She didn’t want him to say it aloud. Lorrie stayed until she could no longer handle it. Then she felt guilt when she did wrong. She wanted to fix things. Then she was dragged away to another school. She didn’t know how to. But now that was her goal, fix things. Mitsukai sighed. Mitsukai knew she’d only make things harder for Lorrie, but she didn’t care. Maybe if Lorrie couldn’t get to Thorne, he’d be happy. But Mitsukai wouldn’t go out of her way. That would make Mitsukai the bad guy, if she wasn’t already.

Lily looked at Lorrie with great concern. She seemed to be really worried about the boys sitting at the table. Lily was worried too, sure, but not that worried. The boys were not that bad looking, but still. She looked down at her plate and continued to eat, finishing her food quickly. She then saw the droplet of acid and was slightly confused until Lorrie explained it. She nodded slightly and shrugged, whispering back, "Not really... I mean, this is my first day here, so I don't know what people do here." She giggled softly, seeing Lorrie push away her hamburger. She must not have been all that hungry. She then saw Lorrie waving at her brother and then waved at him, so she was his friend.

Alex sat down next to his Lorrie, knowing that his sister, Lily, would be fine without him. He saw her take the acid droplet on her finger and put it into her mouth. He was confused and then heard what she said, nodding. He didn't want to pry into her business. He started to eat when he noticed that Lorrie had pushed her burger away, way she okay? He looked at the two boys and saw they were making her nervous. He nodded to them and continued to eat. He swallowed his food and looked at her, "Lorrie... are you alright?"

Lorrie Etterling

But, there's always this one question
that keeps me up at night.
Are you my greatest love?
Or disappointment in my life?

“What?” Lorrie asked perplexed. Lily and Alex must have been more observant than she gave them credit for. She wasn’t alright nor was she not. It was a stuck-in-the-middle feeling, a sticky substance, and an uncomfortable feeling. Fidgeting with the edge of her shirt, Lorrie bit her bottom lip. She decided for the sake of the lunch hour that she would pretend. Really, she was nervous about nothing, but…yet, something just didn’t seem right. Sneaking another glance at the guys, Lorrie started as her heart thumped erratically. Catching her breath, she looked back at Alex and Lily quickly and gave them a bright smile. “I’m fine. Why do you ask?” She asked wondering if what she was feeling was part of her other less explored power.

Picking at her uneaten burger, Lorrie happened to look back past the twins’ faces and realized that Thorne had left, and that Mitsukai girl was also nowhere to be seen. Her smile faltered and she couldn’t help but finger a lone shark tooth that rested in her jean pocket, though she had no idea that its counterpart was long gone. Trying to lighten her mood and theirs, she laughed slightly realizing that their concern was most likely because she wasn’t eating the rest of her lunch. Making a silly face, Lorrie said cheerfully, “Well, ya know, acid isn’t the most appetizing thing in the world, so I’m just gonna throw this out real quick. I’ll be right back.”

Standing up fluidly, Lorrie grabbed the remains of her lunch and headed to the trash. Taking her time, Lorrie shuffled as she let her eyes idly roam the cafeteria. Though, her eyes frequented the empty seats at Thorne’s previous table more often than she would have liked to admit. Emptying her hands of the trash that she held, Lorrie gazed once more around the room biding her time to let herself mope a little before she had to be cheerful again.

Are you a heartbreaker?
Maybe you want me for the ride.
What if I'm fallin' for a heartbreaker
And everything is just a lie?
I won’t be leaving here alive.
I might as well lay down and die.

Lily watched Lorrie and was slightly confused. She then stood up and threw her things away in a different trash can. She waved to Alex as she left, heading up to the library. That was one of her favorite placing to go. She could also secretly spy on Alex if she wanted to, but she was sure that his life would be kind of boring. She searched the library for an interesting book. She grabbed the book and sat down in the corner, near the window.

Alex watched Lorrie and was about to answer her before she left. He then saw Lily seemed to be leaving and he sighed, waving to her. He hated to be alone with new people, especially boys. Other boys had always been mean to him. He shook slightly and closed his eyes at the thought. He then opened his eyes again as he waited for Lorrie to return. He had never tasted acid, but had always guessed that it didn't taste good.

((he anti social or something? haha.. Well I guess i'll just start my character off..))

Conor entered the doors of his new school, the smell of cafeteria food and newly burned paper filled the air. He walked the halls until he found his dorm, his bags floating in the air next to him as he watched them carefully. He turned the door knob and entered his new room, dropping the bags on the floor in front of the bed. My weight limit still isn't very big, those bags only weigh like thirty pounds and yet I'm so strained.

He closed the door behind him and began to unpack all of his clothes and all his personal items that he brought with him. He placed his iPod on his bed and pulled some shirts out of his duffel bag. He opened the dresser drawers and placed his shirts and other clothes inside them. After he finished he slowly closed the wooden drawers and sat on the bed, rubbing his eyes with the palms of his hands. He sighed and then grabbed his iPod.

Conor closed his dorm room as he left, locking it and putting his key in his pocket. He put his iPod headphones into his ears, selected his music and then slid it into the pocket of his skinny jeans. He began to walk down the halls once more, headed for the cafeteria, the food had a small stench of death but he decided he was hungry enough to eat it.

Cory
While Cory sat at the bleachers he thought. He thought over the reason he left the lunch table, Mitsukai. The reason half the people at this school hated him, Mitsukai. The damn reason he was at this darn school, Mitsukai. Okay, not fully Mitsukai, Mitsukai’s parents. He sighed. That girl was and always would be the most important thing in his life. And there she was, at the opposite of the sports field chatting away happily with here new crush. ‘Whoa Cory, you’re basically spying on your ex, bravo! If Joe saw you, he’d make lightning strike you. That’s if God didn’t do it himself.' Cory frowned at the thought. It wasn’t his fault. He didn’t know she told Thorne to come here. He came here because she abandoned him at a table where mostly everyone hated him. He didn’t need someone injuring him.

Cory sighed and thought more of the Lorrie matter. As the looks of it, Mitsukai was over the urge to shoot her. But she hadn’t seen her since first period, who knew if her thoughts would change. Cory would need to befriend Lorrie. He needed some darn friends at this school. Everyone hated him because of the stories Mitsukai told them about him hurting her. They hated him because he basically broke Mitsukai and Kyuubi up last year, not that he knew! He just visited and kissed her, cause goodness he missed her and still did. Now they hated him because he was back for good. They hated him because Mitsukai could fall back in love with him since she’d see him everyday. Goodness, he was stressing him self out, along with becoming mildly obsessed.

Cory tried to focus on only the music. It was playing all the music by the band Mayday Parade only to remember that he relied on that band during the first few months after her dumped her. He then changed the playlist to Nevershoutnever. It worked until the song changed to She’s got style. He told her this song fitted her and her dreams to become an artist. He then changed it to The Kooks. He was satisfied finally and sung softly with the music in his iPod.

((nah, he's not a loner. He just dosent have friends because of past screw ups. Since Mitsukai befriended alot of people at the school, alot of people dont like Cory. And he's only been here a day, so his only friend is Mitsukai. though he knows people, to many just dislike him.]]

Conor walked into the cafeteria, it was a big open room full of students all sitting and eating with friends. Great, everyone is already into little cliques and no there is almost no way for me to make friends. And there is no place to sit! He mumbled a curse to himself, taking his place in line for food, since almost everyone was already easy it was not a very long wait for his food. Conor sighed as he got his food and turned to look for a seat, he peered around the room looking for an open seat, anywhere really would work he did not mind.

He decided he was going to go get some fresh air, since the only seat open in the whole room was by three preppy girls who glared at him when he started walking over to it. He walked through the halls eating his food slowly, he reached the back door to the sports field, opening the doors the sunlight blinded him for a second. He stepped out into the sun, still squinting his eyes as they adjusted to the light.

He chose a seat at the bottom of the bleaches and looked out at the sports field, I wonder if they have a football team here, I haven't played in two years. But I'm sure dad would be proud if I did. He threw his head back a little, gazing up at the sky. He missed his parents a lot, even though he wouldn't admit it to anyone. The warmth of the sun on his face made him smile.

--Conor Morgan

((Haha, that makes sense then, i'll leave it open for him to come sit by me if he feels up to it wink and good music choice by the way, i love mayday parade and nevershoutnever!! ))

Cory
Cory noticed the new comer. Why hadn’t he sat at the closer bench to school? Did he notice the flirting almost couple? Or was Cory the only pathetic one here? Surly Kyuubi wasn’t over Mitsukai either. She wasn’t the girl to date a lot. She dated only when she really liked someone and they lasted. Mitsukai had never dated for under a year. Mitsukai and Kyuubi dated for a year and a half. Cory and her dated for four years and a half. And those were the only boys Mitsukai had been with. Gah! Why did he know these things?

Cory thought about sitting with the new comer. He was in desperate need for a friend. Yea, Genius Academy was one of the friendly schools. It had small cliques, but most we’re inviting. The first years and second years stuck together. The third and fourth years stayed together. Differences of grade level and ability to control your power also picked which group you stuck with. He only knew this because Mitsukai explained during her last trip. Cory was a first year, though he shouldn’t be in that group. He went to a power control school for three years before he got kicked out, he should be included in the third and fourth years. But most of them hated him. So it was up to first years until he proved he was someone who deserved friends with people his age. Cory rolled his eyes and walked to the new arrival.

“Hello, I’m Cory. Can I sit here?” Cory asked, figuring he needed the distraction. He needed to stop thinking about her. Or he’d half to throw a bolder at his head, if that was possible. He waited for the boy to approve while he observed the appearance of the boy. Unfourtonaly, looks determined a lot of personality traits. The boy had dark black hair and side bangs. He had blue eyes and lip rings. Basically, if Cory were the labeling type-which he wasn’t-he’d label the boy ‘scene’. So if he was like a lot of boys who dressed that way, he and Cory would get along. But hopefully he’d be wrong. He liked people to prove his judgments wrong. But he did hope they’d still get along. Cory desperately needed a friend here.

(( Really? The Kooks, Mayday Parade, and Nevershoutnever are my three fav bands(: I think we're going to get along well, lol. BTW, i love you're avi. ]]
