In the beginning there were the six great Elemental Spirits. They all existed harmoniously, in the undefined free magic, life passing in the blink of an eye over millions of years. Of course, such existence is rather boring.

One day, Wind came upon Earth, who thought he was alone in a remote region of space. Earth was huddled over something that Wind had never seen before, since Wind had only ever seen the other Spirits before, and since the other Spirits were rather intangible and chaotic, it was hard to say what they really looked like. Therefore, this thing Earth had was quite the mystery. "Earth," Wind begins uncertainly, "What is that?"

Earth replies quite cheerfully; "This is my planet! I named it after me! Isn't it pretty?" Wind peered at the rock, which was barren and plain. "It is nice, Earth, but I think it could use some decorations." So, all of the Spirits were called together to look at this ball of rocks, and figure out what to do with it.

Of course, all at once, everyone started trying to pin their own decorations on it. Fire quickly laid down his own decoration, and accidentally melted the insides of the ball, and every once in a while, magma would seep to the surface through newly formed volcanoes. "Oops. I'm sorry." Fire looked down sheepishly. Water glared at Fire and said "I'll try now!" Water dropped liquid on it, which began to swirl and kick up the dirt. Realizing that it hadn't done any better than Fire, Water felt ashamed. Wind tried also, but only resulted in creating destructive whirlwinds. When earth tried, the only thing that happened was that the ball shook at times.

Light and Dark both wanted a turn, and each of them began to greedily go forth, impatient, not wanting to be last. One on each side, cast their decoration over the land and the end result was that half of the globe was sheathed in darkness, the other half illuminated.

The six spirits stared dumbfounded at the mess they made, and Earth began to cry. The other five began to feel bad, and patted him on the back and tried to sooth him, but to no avail. Finally, they all left him with his ruined creation and began to talk to each other. Perhaps millions of years passed, time wasn't quite quantified yet, but the Spirits came up with an idea. They knew that alone they could not create anything worthwhile, only something useless or destructive, but together they might be able to make something beautiful. Sheepishly, they came back to Earth and proposed their idea. Earth cast aside the ball bitterly. "I don't care what you do with it. You've already ruined it, you can't make it any worse."

Wind and Water carefully picked up the ball, and nodded to each other. Together, they began to create gentle and beautiful clouds. Earth peered over curious at the thing they had made, but said nothing yet. Then, Fire and Wind made lightning, and beautiful lights flashed over the orb. Light and Fire created the sun to warm the planet. So on and so forth, the Spirits did things to create, aside from Dark who watched yet, timid still. Finally, Earth was feeling placated, and he came and joined in the process, plants and animals springing up from tehir joint efforts. Before all to long (By their standards) they had created something pristine and beautiful.

Fire laughed and waved Dark over. "Come, join in! Make something with us!" Dark nodded and worked with Fire. Only ashes came out, and Fire frowned but didn't say anything. The ashes were not pretty. Wind and Dark worked together and created stagnant winds and sulfurous stenches. Wind was not pleased. Water and Dark tried, but only fetid swamps arose. Earth and Dark also made an attempt, and fields were littered with salt. The four Spirits grumbled and eyed him suspiciously, upset that he was ruining their creation. Light smiled though, and had faith in Dark. "Try with me, we will make something beautiful."

Dark gulped and tried his hardest. In fact, he tried so hard that when his darkness touched the light, it merely blotted it out and consumed it. The other Spirits had enough. "You did that on purpose!" Light yelled at Dark. "You're trying to destroy what Earth created!" Finally, Dark shot back, "Yes I am! Its not fair that he gets to make this and everyone pays attention to him!"

The others were enraged, and tried to clean off what Dark had done, but it was to late. "Everything I have done will spread and will destroy this globe. And you, Light, whenever my darkness shall touch your radiance, it shall not pervert it, but simply destroy it." The others vowed never to let Earth's creation be destroyed by Dark's jealousy, and began to do their best to keep his influence from spreading. All of the Spirits began to resent him, but none such as Light, for the insult to Light was the greatest. To this day, the Spirits fight upon the planet, using the creatures there as pawns to further their cause against dark.
