...because believe it or not, the movie script was written by the producer while he was at a restaurant... waiting for his breakfast club sandwich (Not sure why they'd have a club sandwich for breakfast...) Well, since he couldn't think of a good name when he was finished... he decided he'd use whatever came to mind first... which, as you could guess... unexpectedly formed itself in his mind right after the delivery of his food:
"Here you go, sir... here is your BREAKFAST CLUB"
Why must the explanations be so complicated? surprised

((The movie is called the Breakfast club because that is what morning detention was called. I am studying it for media. ^^))

Hairdressers know everything, and therefore THEY know why they "trim" off 5 inches, and therefore, they don't require that you know why the do so, and therefore, maybe it's your duty to stop them when you feel they've "trimmed" enough inches off your hair heart
