Raquel jumped slightly at his voice, a sudden wave of guilt washing over her. "um- I-i-i'm fine..." She lied, her voice shaking. as she held her arms for a moment. She turned to him, keeping her arms folded against her and her eyes diverted. "I'm...I'm sorry...." She blushed horribly. "I just-" She furrowed her brow. She couldn't explain what she really felt. Either Damian would be offended or agree it was true. Because the fact of the matter was...she was scared. She had slept with countless men over the years, but it always ended the same. They did her, paid her, left her. That was just business to her all this time. But not realizing it, this 'symbol of affection' was always paired with the other person leaving. Just now she had almost been completely subdued when the thought hit her. Once they did in fact embrace their desires, what then? Once Damian finally had his way with her, would he be gone? would he cast her out of his life, or grow bored with her? Part of her said that was ridiculous because Damian loved her and vise versa, but this fear was still deeply implanted within her. She couldn't lose Damian. Not yet... So not saying anything else, she kept her gaze away from him, as a few tears rolled down her small, scared face.
Richard's heart almost broke when Lorey weakly climbed onto him for comfort. He wrapped his arms around her giving her a consoling 'sh' here and there. "Lorey...my love, you're not making me do anything but love you to death...I want to take care of you, hell I need to. Don't you see that lorey, It's just apart of me now that I can't ignore...I want you to be happy, because when you're happy, I'm happy...I haven't been happy in quite some time....So i should thank you for that..."

Seeing her cry nearly sent him into a heart attack. "Raquel, did I do something wrong?" He had to think back... had he hurt her when kissing? did he touch her in some way she didn't want? He was so desperate to find out that he could barely keep his thoughts straight. "If you don't want to, that's fine, I would never make you..." he offered. "What's wrong?"
"How can you be happy when I'm always taking two steps back?" And the tears started again. She hated them. "I get attacked, I can never do anything about it, and when it happens, you always have the most guilt ridden look on your face, like you could have stopped it from happening. It's never your fault, though. You're so wonderful, you're so good to me, Richard. You're too good..."

Raquel wiped away her tears despite how the kept coming. "No...no no....Please It's not your fault Damian..." She tried to explain as she kept rubbing her eyes, resembling the little girl from her dreams. She looked a mixture of sad, scared and guilt ridden as she stood there in her pajamas. "I'm sorry...I really am...maybe its because I'm still kind of off from our trip. Like emotionally and physically. I'm sorry....Please don't blame yourself.." She tried to explain, stretching the truth slightly in hopes of calming Damian down. She hadn't meant to cause such a fuss and was now trying to make up for it.
Richard just looked at Lorey as she cried, his heart breaking even more. After a moment, he shut his eyes tightly, his entire body tensing up. "Shut up..." He said firmly, though a hint of erratic emotion was in his tone. "Just Shut up!" His voice cracked as he held her tightly, fighting his own tears. "Lorey, there is not a man in this galaxy that deserves you...All I can do is try my best to even come somewhat close....Lorey...I feel guilt because when something bad happens to you...it breaks my heart. You don't deserve to go through what you do..you just dont...." he whispered into her as he held her so close.

"Come here..." Damian awkwardly went forward to catch her in a hug. He should have known that things wouldn't end with a simple coming home again. "I have something in mind that I think might help you... but you have to get some rest and feel alright before I can tell you what it is, alright? I'd love to just go out and do what I think might be nice, but this is something that I need your help with, too." Damian smiled to himself. Maybe this might go over well. Maybe.
Lorey swallowed hard before angrily pushing back from him. She was still seated on his lap, still close, but the angry look in her eyes was even closer. "Don't you dare tell me to shut up!" she yelled. "Don't... you dare! I get that from terrible employers and from people who treat me like dirt, not from you, you hear me? Not from you!" She as so tempted to just storm out of there, or scream, or dare she think it, strike him? But there was something in his voice, even when he said he loved her afterwards... "Not from you..." And she bent her head forward again to his shoulder, just so tired of it all that she feared she was wrong, and that saying hat she did hadn't been worth it.

Raquel hugged him tightly loving the instant security she got when he held her. Though when he spoke she pulled back to give him a quizzical look. "I am alright." She explained with a nod. "I'm totally fine and ok. What do you have in mind?" She asked, her curiosity rising.
Richard froze, not expecting that sort of reaction form her. He felt slightly hurt that she yelled, but mostly guilty. He was afraid to do much of anything at that moment. All he could think of was to gently slide her off of him, and kiss her softly on the forehead. "H-have you heard from the flower shop yet?" He asked, genuinely curious, but mostly trying not to mess up anymore than he had. Even after trying to express how much he loved her, Richard ended up just making things worse.

Damian didn't believe her for one second, but he nodded, and lead her over to the computer. "Have a seat," he said, rolling her forward in the chair just a bit once she was properly seated. Damian reached over, and with the small mouse began minimizing windows to reveal one in particular that he wanted her to see. There were animal pictures, with descriptions and contact information. the site they were on seemed to be a local animal shelter.
"I've been searching for a few hours," he said, scrolling down to a particular picture of a calico cat. Her face seemed a bit gaunt, and her eyes a bit unhappy, even though she was only about a year old. "And I know that... you wanted to take care of that baby... and while I cannot give you a child to take care of, I thought maybe you'd like to take someone home. And I thought that..."
The more Damian went on, the sillier he felt. He scrolled down a bit, to reveal that this cat in particular had been in a terrible accident, and only had three legs. No one had wanted her for the entire time she'd been alive in the shelter since she was a kitten, and she was doomed to be euthanized quite soon. "Her name is Trinity," he said. "I thought maybe you might want to adopt her."
Lorey shook her head. "I really haven't checked. I thought maybe it's been too long and they found someone else." Her sad blue eyes looked up to Richard for just a second before Lorey gently found her way close to him again. Her lips touched his sweetly, before she pulled away just slightly and whispered, "I love you."

Raquel stared at the picture fora few moments, though she didn't say anything. She finally looked up at him, smiling ever so slightly, her eyes misting up again. "Oh...Damian..." She whispered, swallowing a bit. Her smile grew bigger and bigger until she couldn't stand it anymore. She stood and rapped Damian in a tight hug. "Damian...you're so amazing...I love her." She said softly. It wasn't the fact that he was simply getting her a cat. It was the thought and effort he had put into finding one so perfect in Raquel's eyes. The poor, beautiful battered thing looked as if it had been through hell in a handbag its whole life. It held the same desperation and lack of hope Raquel had before Damian. It was all so wonderful to her, she couldn't think of what to say.
Richard barely moved when her lips so carefully made contact with his before her lovely voice uttered his favorite words. Richard smiled, kissing her in return. "You're so wonderful...I love you too.." He said softly. "Though, I dont think its been too long...its only been what? 2-3ish days? hey cant have disregarded you that soon can they?" He offered, staying optomistic.

What luck he hadn't had in getting in bed was reserved for Raquel liking his idea. He'd been thinking about it since Altru, but had just stumbled upon this cat hours ago. And now, it seemed, this baby was going to be theirs. Damian returned the hug thankfully. "I didn't just want to bring a cat home and find out you didn't like them," he said, laughing just a bit.
Lorey wiped her eyes and actually smiled. "But they might have called and... and I wasn't here. I haven't checked the messages or anything..." She'd been too scared to. "Besides, I'm all bruised up. I couldn't be presentable for an interview..."

Raquel smiled shaking her head. "No its lovely...oh...Damian you're so amazing to me." That was the only way to describe him. Amazing. "So when can we go get her?" She asked excitedly, now feeling her former fears completely gone.
Richard smiled and shook his head. "Well I think you're too lovely for them to say no to but that's just me." He said with a silly shrug and matching smile. "But I honestly think their's still hope..." He added though with a hint of knowing to it. "...I wasn't going to say anything...but I stopped by the flower shop on my way home..." He said, rubbing his neck.

He laughed at her excitement. It had been exactly what she'd needed, to have this other being to look after... "Well, Trinity-- you know, I think that name's clever... it means a grouping of three things," he said as a quick lesson, remembering how Raquel had told him she wished to better herself. "But anyhow, I can call and have them arrange a little meeting of sorts today, if you'd like. We'd have to go out and get her supplies, though, and everything she'll need before we can bring her home." Damian thought already about where they could place the litter box and how on earth they could care for a cat...
But it would work out. "Can't go in our pajamas, though."
Lorey looked at him quizzically. "You did?" she asked, not knowing why he would have gone there at all, or even that he'd gone out.

Raquel smiled and giggled like a little girl before pecking him on the check, "Of course! I should go change!" She said with a nod before turning to go to her room. but she stopped, turned, and hugged Damian once ore briefly before rushing off to her room to change super fast.
Richard smiled, shrugging casually. "I was out picking up a few things when i was near the flower district. I searched around till I finally found the woman who had sold me the rose I got you. She said you had handed in your resume and she was quite impressed." He explained, stretching and acting as if it were not a big deal. "So...yea you got it." He said as he shrugged and turned around, but glanced back at her, giving her a smile and wink.

Damian joined her in haste, smiling all through his mad dash. He'd done something right for Raquel. She was glowing, happy, and excited. They'd go out in the city, buy cat toys and litter boxes and who knew what else, and perhaps Damian would regret getting the cat after awhile, but it would make her happy. He emerged from his room dressed casually, went right to the kitchen and got the key for the speeder. After that was in his grasp, his cell was taken out, and the number dialed for the shelter to make the appointment to meet this Trinity.
Her expression went from dull shock to happiness, to glowing excitement in a matter of seconds. "Aiyeeeeee!" She practically knocked him right off the bed with her tacklehug, so, so happy that she had secured the position with her humble but good resume. Everything would be fine, she thought, hugging Richard around the neck and giving him the occasional kiss. She was still sore all over, but it was all too wonderful to be true.

Raquel had thrown on a pair of jeans she had bought new before they left for Altru when Damian took her out shopping. She threw on a rather stylish scarf top and throwing on some shoes before running to meet Damian. But she stopped when she was near Lorey's door and she heard a cry. Raquel smiled slyly, running to get the box of condoms she had dropped in the living room, holding one finger up to Damian as if to say 'just a moment.' She opened the door slightly, seeing Lorey on top of Richard, suddenly regretting opening the door at all. But she laughed a little at the two, throwing the box at Richard blushing head. "Looks like you need these more than me." She winked and stuck her tongue out, looking to Lorey. "Damian and I are going out fora bit. We'll be back soon. ...Have fun." She added with a devilish grin before laughing and shutting the door behind her.
She met up with Damian in the living room, slipping her arms around his waste, her eyes sparkling with excitement like a small child waiting to go on a trip. "Ready when you are." She whispered, noting he was on the phone.

Lorey looked at the small box Raquel had thrown at them and blushed terribly. Who had gone out and bought those? she wondered. Soon enough her mind was spinning on how they hadn't known each other for long enough, but then stopped when she realized they weren't for them. It was just a joke. Right? "Is that what they've been doing?" she asked, laughing but still so, so red. "Whatever. I wondered if they called... I should go check. I should call them to hear it for myself. Richard, I'm going to have a job again!" And before he could say anything, she took his face and kissed him with all her happiness.
Damian's brow raised at her very nice outfit, to which he nodded and smiled as he spoke. "Yes, that's the one. Two? Yes, we can make it. ...Yes, we have seen her pictures and are quite sure. Indeed, we shall meet you at two..." The conversation dropped off just a bit before he hung up with his own eyes sparkling. "We have about an hour to go get things before heading over to meet her. They tell me she's litter trained and is very sweet-tempered, so I asked them to prepare the adoption papers ahead of time."

Richard blushed terribly, but laughed in a good humored way, shaking his head. "Ok, ok you got me back!" He shouted after Raquel as she left them. Turning to receive Lorey's kisses he felt his whole being at ease. He loved seeing her this happy. It made life seem so much worth living. "Alright love, i'll be here. You go see if they called and I'll start thinking of ways to celebrate!" He said beaming, though the box was sill near his hand, making him blush. "I mean, erm appropriate ways...like dinner or or dancing or...not ..um...yea..." he said nervously, kicking the box from his view so as to stop any further embarrassment.
Raquel covered her mouth a bit as she held back a giggle, leaning up to kiss him briskly on the lips. "Then what are we waiting for!? Lets go!" She exclaimed with a beaming smile as she took hold of his hand tightly, leading him out the door.
