Ruque giggled. He liked Naida, she was fun!
"But we should probably tell Papa where we're going," he said with a grin, "so that he doesn't worry. And Mama, Mama likes to know where we are."
"But we're not supposed to go back inside yet, are we?" Kanis questioned in a small voice. "I don't think Ruran will have calmed down yet ..."

Miyu twittered her fingers she really didn't want to be near Ruran at the moment and with Ruran and Ulani in the same building... well Miyu had heard stories from her grandfather. Chances are fur was probably flying back there.
"Well.. I'm sure it wouldn't hurt since your parents know you're with Yami-san and I."

Ruque could see how much Miyu didn't like the idea of going near Ruran again, and he couldn't blame her. He nodded. "Okay, that's fair," he agreed. "Papa did tell you to take care of us."
He wanted her to feel comfortable, after all.
Kanis looked relieved. "Then let's go," she smiled. "Where is he?"
And then Aragost spoke up, since of course no one else would know the man's whereabouts.
"He is at home at the moment," he said softly, but with a ring of authority. "Though he seems to be heading out ... we must hurry if we intend to catch him ..."

"Shall we go then?" Miyu asked.
She stood up brushing off her bottom.
"Yea! Up! Up!" Naida was splashing she was so excited at the idea of visiting more people.
Of course Naida was her mother's daughter and loved people as much as she loved shiny things.
Feng laughed a bit before picking Naida up.

"I'll come along with you," Rose smiled, also rising to her feet. "Adanedhel will know where to look for us if he comes home before us." And she didn't particularly feel like leaving Ecthelion alone, even with so many people to watch him.
"Yay!" Ecthelion cheered, running up to Rose and hopping onto her back. "We're going to see Uncle Adonijah!"
Aras looked up at Feng curiously. "Is he our uncle, too?" she asked.

"Uhm... no...." Feng murmured, "I think... he's more of a distant cousin, because Ulani and Ulrich are distant cousins of your grandmother."
Feng had to think about it and then nodded that sounded about right she thought as she gained legs again and stood up holding Naida carefully.

"I see," Aras nodded thoughtfully.
"This way!" Ecthelion cheered, pointing back towards the direction that the others had come from from where he sat on his mother's back. "Off we gooooooo!!"
And they all set off together towards Aliya and Amdir's house.

"Yea, yea! Let's go," Naida bounced in Feng's arms as her mother followed along.
For some reason Naida liked the shyest of Aliya and Amdir's children, no one could quite explain why.
Feng chuckled looking around them, it was like a little army.

As they approached the clearing where Ulani and Ulrich's house and Aliya and Amdir's houses were situated, the door to Ulani and Ulrich's house opened and Ruran stepped out, arms crossed rebelliously over his chest. He glared at the group that was approaching, muttering under his breath, and leaned against the wall, watching them come closer.
"Look, it's Ruran!" Kanis beamed, pleased to see that he at least wasn't under guard, so to speak. "I hope he's not in too much trouble."
"If he was," Ruque pointed out, "he wouldn't be allowed out here ..." He paused. "Unless he got thrown out."
Which was a distinct possibility. It was amazing their father had allowed him to stay with the family, after all that he'd done.

"Thrown out? Why would he be thrown out?" Feng blinked in confusion.
It was easy to tell that this was the fourth child, but why was he pouting, or rather glaring.
"Please don't try and hug him... mi...." Miyu told her aunt.
If anything she didn't want to deal with that.

Aras looked up at Feng. "He's mean," she said flatly. "He always makes fun of people and says they're stupid and he doesn't like anybody."
"And he was yelling at Ulani," Kanis added in a small voice. "Father got very angry ..."
Ecthelion was still looking thoughtfully at the boy, trying to figure out his own opinion of him. Finally, all he could come up with was, "He looks grumpy."

"Maybe he needs a hug," Naida suggested wisely.
Or at least she sounded wise, some would doubt the wise action of actually hugging Ruran. However like Lin with her sugar, to Naida it was the simple things that made everything all better.
"I wouldn't suggest it..." Miyu murmured and mi-ed some more.
She would rather they continue on their way but that would be rude wouldn't it?

Aras looked at Naida with one eyebrow arched incredulously. "I don't think he's ever had a hug he didn't fight," she warned her. "It's really ... really not a good idea."
She had never seen anyone try to hug her brother, but she was afraid for anyone who dared to try it.
Ecthelion blinked. "So he is grumpy?" he questioned.
"All the time," Ruque said solemnly.

Naida paused for a moment why would anyone fight a hug? That was very silly or so she thought.
"Well... Auntie Lin always says give them sugar if they're sour, and I think that must make him really sour so he must need a lot of sugar."
"Sweetie..." Feng murmured, "I don't think that works neither..."

"Sweet stuff," Aras explained, though she was also confused. "But why should he have some?"
