"Grrr... must not spend much... er... time!... time with gypsies, big man Human... Would have been run off! Sound like... like... like constable! K-... k-... knight! Cathedral male! Trying to confuse, twist words around...," Rosso scowled deeply at him, her voice starting to taper off with the last bit. As that glare took on a definitively suspicious feel, one of those very animated hands snatched her cocoa-flavoured rum up, unconcerned with the small amount that splashed free at the vigorous movement. Wheeling on him, she brandished the mug like some sort of poker, it's contents sloshing precariously with each jab aimed in his direction, accompanying her next words.

"Why so curious where Domini learn? What you sell? Why new person come, ask... err... quest-... questions! Brain voice better not say Rosso is... ehrr... thief. Constables accuse many times... always accuse Rosso..."

___Domini's reaction was not something Azen thought he'd have to face, or well, he didn't think she would snap this fast and this hard. Although he was rather suprised, Domini's outburst didn't move Asgard; his grin only disappeard and the man raised an eyebrow. He listened to the thin girl's loud defensive words, thinking it would be be best to let her finish. As she spoke the words 'Cathedral male', his lips formed a little smirk, but as fast as it came on his face, it went away: did she really think he was one of 'them'?

___As Rosso finished her shouting, Azen took a small step back, giving her some air. His head lightly nodded once and he brought a hand up before him, showing his palm and moving the hand in a slow 'pushing down' manner. "Milady Rosso, please calm down." He asked in a lighter voice. "To be honnest, I'm slightly confused as to why you became this defensive all of the sudden. I understand I might have irritated you, although I only meant to tease. I assume I took the joke too far." With these words, Asgard brought the same hand he had in front of him to his mug, taking it and as he turned his body around to face the counter and guiding the cup to his lips, taking another sip of his drink. Hopefully the short pause would give him enough time to formulate his true intentions without sounding harsh or teasing her again; he wouldn't want her short fuse to blow up again.

___The dark knight brought down his fizzing ale slowly, being careful not to spill any of his drink; unlike Rosso whom pretty much spilled her warm cocoa everywhere. He cleared his throat and calmly exhaled from his nose. "Forgive my rudeness. I was trying to sneak a bit of information out of you, when instead I should have been straight-forward and clearly ask you what I was looking for. I am under the impression that you could help me. I am currently trying to meet with the elder races, the elves to be precise. I know they might not welcome me, seeing as I am human, but I still want to try to contact them. There is a few things I would like to discuss with them."

Never mistake tears for sadness...
[It was an excellent trip. Cute new babe named Greta I was looking after.]

Eva's grin only widened when she saw the water, appreciative of the care though she had the feeling the other soldiers would remain cautious around her for some time. That was fine by her, however. She could be patient. Splashing her face with the slightly cool water, she runs her hands through her hair and grimaces slightly at the greasey feeling. dunking her head fully in the pail, she scrubs the worst of it out then wrings out the water from her hair and begins to braid though it is still wet. She ignores the washcloth though her face is still dripping with the water and instead turns to her pack and draws fresh clothing out and begins to dress.

The water dries on her face as she dresses though small rivulets of water drip down from her scalp to run down her cheek and neck. It would be enough to keep her cool for a few hours at least. Brushing her wet bangs out of her eyes, she straightens and stretches once more out of habit.

"I almost hesitate to ask but what is your alternative?"

As she speaks, Eva begins to slip into her breeches.
...that will only bring you grief.

A beautiful roaring scream, of joy and sorrow so extreme...

Tali shakes her head faintly, her response slightly distracted because she is brushing out her hair. "It's... only a possibility. And a rare one at that, now that I think about it. It will depend a lot on how many people come with us... and what they are willing to bribe her with... and maybe.. how drunk I get her..." Her voice trailing off towards the end, as if maybe that was meant more for her inner monologue rather than of public enjoyment.

She sighs, then flashes that gypsy smile to Eva. "Won't know till we try, right?" Stowing away her brush, she reties her bandanna in her hair and heads for the exit.

"I think I'm going to try to find that Ky fellow and see what is going on. Want to come?"

She was hardly reassured by Tali's comment. If anything, Eva was more wary of this alternative for its uncommoness. It would most likely deal with magic and as far as Eva was concerned, strange magic was to be avoided. Not that she had any choice in the matter. The final comment made her laugh as she wondered how serious the woman might be about that. It was a toss up really.

"I wouldn't dream of staying. Any meeting between you two is sure to be entertainment. Though I should say it will be a little hard to get anything out of him if he's too busy blushing and trying to banish ungentleman like thoughts from his mind. Inquiry first then teasing, hmm?"

She smiled contentedly, even as a part of her was muttering reminders of who Tali was and what that meant in regards to Eva's position. A tentative position at best and one she could not imperil. Did not want to, even, as she rather liked the elf though what that would mean should it come to blades...she was as of yet unsure. And that, above all else, bothered her greatly. Still, it was not an immediately pressing worry and she could ignore it for the most part.

A quirky smile lifts her lips, and she holds open the tent flap for Eva, waiting for her to head out before following her into the open campgrounds. "Sure, we could do that. I suppose whatever they have to say is relevant and all. But don't fool yourself." Glancing at her companion, she taps the side of her nose a couple times with a finger. Her voice lowers to signal that this conversation is really only meant for the two of them.

"When people are composed, they tell you want they want you to hear. But when people are caught off guard.. when they are embarrassed or flustered.. then you hear the truth." She shrugs faintly, passing by various tents.

"You learn a whole lot more about who a person really is and what is in their heart when they are at loss for something eloquent to say. With enough practice anyone can put together a believable string of words..." Giving Eva a sidelong glance, her tone shifts again to that faint teasing, "Wouldn't you agree..?" Those last words fading out, her attention returning to their surroundings, maybe to indicate that a verbal reply isn't required.

The advice made enough sense that Eva took it to heart though she barely had enough time to really digest the information before she was brought up short by Tali's next comment. Wouldn't you agree..? The pit in her stomach retracted suddenly as a grimace passed momentarily over her lips. Eva kept walking casually alongside the all too observant woman, though, and disregarded the more drastic impulses that now made her fingertips brush the hilt of her dagger. That was hardly a good idea. For one, her position in the camp was a tentative one at best and the rebels would hardly take to her slitting a possible ally's throat right in front of them. The pit in her stomach retracted again at this thought, clenching her insides viciously though there was little outward sign of her turmoil.

It seemed...natural that her own safety should come first. No thought at all for the woman she might have called friend if the situation had been different. "Blast and be damned." The words were out before she knew what she was saying. Though they were spoken in a harsh whisper, Eva hoped in vain Tali would take no notice. She realized then, with a glimmer of vain hope that she might just be jumping at shadows. More food for thought, perhaps, when the time to mull it over presented itself. For now, the strange Ky and his witch commander stood before her. Would difficulties ever cease?
...that will only bring you grief.

User ImageA firm shake of the head was offered to Ky's words, Asmyrra absently softly patting the various pockets of her robes as they passed through the camp. Finally scrounging a kerchief from one of her sleeves, she raised it to her lips and face, almost as though afraid of sneezing... which lent a certain amount of muffling to her thick, purring accent as she replied.

"A damsel in distress would make a pretty convincing distraction from a possible assassin, Kiske... very foolish is the killer who gets caught with their weapons in hand," she murmured, after pressing the cloth to her lips. Violet eyes flickered down to the fabric as she withdrew it faintly, and tightened faintly at the corners at the bright stain concealed within. Damn.

"...But, either way, the woman is gone now. I'm guessing you've passed word to the sentries to keep a wary eye open," she continued, long fingers balling the cloth up and making it vanish within a sleeve once more. As they came about a final row of tents, those slanted orbs caught sight of the two women coming towards them. Such a thing was a vague oddity, for the Iron Fist, like the Paladin's Rod, was mostly comprised of male soldiers. Even more striking, however, was the outlandish attire of the two women, which drew a slow once-over from those fierce eyes. "And I'm guessing these are our other two 'guests'," was the quiet query that emerged, her features warily thoughtful...

Ky's eyes display a look of concern. Though the commander tried her best to hide it he could tell that she still wasn't fully recovered from the trauma she had been subjected to.

He nods to her first assessment, "Yes Commander, security is as tight as it can possibly get without straining our manpower too much."

When the two outsiders approach them he allows a bit of a smile, "That is correct. The one with the dark skin believes she may know of another method to reach the Elven territories. One that would be much quicker than by horse. Although she has yet to mention what this method is."

Talise purses her lips slightly at Eva's softly blurted exclaimation, trying not to smile. Although she was not entirely sure as to what the woman's secret was, the very fact that Talise was able to entice a small amount of internal struggle told her much. Eva seemed to like Tali, perhaps in spite of herself, and the internal struggle suggested that Eva's reasons for being here could actually be detremental to them... but Eva knew it and the thought discomforted her. Talise felt a smile in her heart from that knowledge. Deep down Eva was probably a keeper. She'd have to remember that.

The things you learn about people when they have nothing eloquent to say...

Coming to a halt before Ky and, what she assumes to be, his commander, she gives them both a friendly smile. "The dark skinned one is called Talise." She tells the new woman playfully, poking a bit at Ky. "But you all can call me Tali. This is Evalin." She quirking her head towards her companion.

"Eva," she automatically corrected, frowning slightly at no particular thing. Her expressions brightened after a moment though remained distant.

"Is this to be our happy little party?" The corner of her twitched slightly as she spoke, her thoughts measuring the contrast to her statement.

The witch could hardly be expected to take Eva at her word. She could only hope her story would be accepted with no overly probing examination. Eva was not a bad liar exactly but she hardly trusted her tongue around whatever strange magic the witch employed. Not to mention the all too observant Tali. Ky seemed willing to trust her though he was no idiot regardless of how flustered Tali could make him. Withdrawing from her thoughts, Eva studied the witch carefully. She seemed rather well for just having an arrow through her chest. Strange magic indeed.

Ky watches the two of them cautiously as they make their introductions. Talise certainly looked as vibrant and jovial as ever. However Evalin seemed slightly troubled. She wasn't nearly as chatty as she was yesterday. Ky ponders this in his mind. She could be flustered as the sight of the commander still standing, or it could be as Asmyrra said and he is jumping to conclusions. He remembered well when he first deflected from the Paladin's Rod. The first few months away from home were sad for him, even though he was doing what he was sure was right.

He decides that he will do his best to make her feel welcome. At the same time though, he reminds himself not to allow his defenses to lower as he did with the pale maiden.

"Indeed it is. Ladies, this is Commander Asmyrra. I hope you two got plenty of *ahem* rest. Lady Anora, would you be so kind as to reveal your transportation source to us?"

User ImageA faint smile curved Asmyrra's lips at the deft quip offered by the dark-skinned woman, her humour a welcome shift from the normal dour form of expression usually encountered in a camp of soldiers. Chancing a final once-over glance at the gypsy, those fierce eyes turned their focus to Eva as she spoke, those violet orbs noting the odd details of her attire, the still-damp hair... the very faint twitches around the edges... but for the time, no suspicions. Instead, Asmyrra offered a welcoming smile to both of the women, either hand reaching out to press softly against one of theirs' in greeting.

"Despite whatever nonsense you hear the men about these parts saying, there's no need for you to tack "Commander" on my name unless you decide to join the Order. Simply Asmyrra will do," she murmured to each of them, a warm, but faintly amused glance flickering to Ky. "And yes, this would appear to be our 'happy little group'... though I'm not sure how I feel about being the last person informed of such," she continued, those thickly accented words taking on a tiny hint of exasperated wryness to their tone.

Pausing to fold her arms about her comfortably, Asmyrra focused a small bit of attention to calming the persistent tickling sensation in her throat, her features showing only a small hint of discomfited tension around the lips and eyes as she addressed her thoughts towards the exchange between Tali and Ky.

User ImageRelm had long since finished her tea by the time Aerith had returned to the study, and her attention had been balanced between the book she was making small notations in, and the tiny crystal ball held by the folds of her robe. Upon Aerith's arrival, however, a gentle puff of air was applied to the page, to assist the ink in drying, and her full attention settled on her apprentice, listening to the details of how they tackled their first task. When Aerith had finished, a warm smile emerged on those angular features, and the book was gently settled beside her, the orb disappearing into a sleeve as Ishtarelm rose, and made her way over to her apprentice.

Lightly lacing her arm in Aerith's, she led them back out of the study. Deft steps made their way down the short hallways and stairs leading to the kitchen, passing the various statues, tapestries, and other such artworks gathered to decorate the interior of her tower. Past the various lamps, down the exotic carpets, and under the strange, almost machine-like contraptions dangling from various points, she finally came to a pause just out of sight from the interior of the kitchen, offering a faintly conspiratory smile to Aerith as she listened to the activities inside...
