(( As far as I can tell, Tami and the new ones are at the healer's den, Bianca's in a different one, and the cubs are in their den, chillin'. So no need for her to flip out, I think. ))

((Ooc: Okay, thanks!))

"As soon as the cub gets a bill of health from Zephre, I'll be sure to check her out. The elder, on the other hand will need to be taught the rules of the pride and see if this is truly a place for her. They may be used to roaming and doing whatever they like. I'm sure if the cub and cat came together they have a sort of attachment. But, I will not be able to alone the elder to be in my den unless under my complete supervision, so this pride may be a difficult transition."

Bianca padded quietly out of the den, limping slightly. "I will see them soon. I need to clean up first."

Bianca exited the den with a nod of thanks to them both, the healing and the information, before slowly making way to a nearby stream where most pride washed if cleaning themselves wasn't nice, as such a case with her. She soaked, careful to not remove anything Zephre put on her and washed most all the blood from her fur, red water running away from her as she became white again.

Zephre looked surprised. "A new cat you say? And a cub?"
But the cub was ill. That struck a deep chord for Zephre, it being the illness he had as a cub that had caused his blindness...
"Lets go." he rose slowly, paying respects to Bianca before she left and making his way back to his own den.
The little rise in the earth just before den hid him from view until the last moment. He knew the ground well and trod with confidence, anyone who saw him walking wouldn't guess he was blind. The light of the sunset caught in his ash-grey mane and played along his snowy back.
The scents of the new cats drifted to his sensitive nose and his ears pricked. He also caught the smell of the plants Tami had given the cub.
"Well done Tami." he said warmly, coming to a halt just outside the den.
"The little one needs to be kept warm as well, unfortunately I need to go and find the herbs that will cure her completely." He then turned in the direction of the new cat, his white eyes looking over her shoulder and into the distance.
"I am Zephre. It is a pleasure." He smiled with a little tilt of his head that spoke of a life of shy gentleness.

Brindle came up on the other side of the stream, the meat she set down gently. "I'm sorry I couldn't get to the den in time." She felt an apology was necessary as she watched Bianca clean the blood off her coat.
"This is for you. More will be gathered for the cubs shortly."
She looked across the stream and over to the main den.
"A female panther showed up a little while ago, with a cub. I sent them both to Zephre's den, and I've given her the option of working in the pride, at least until the cub is well..."
There was a short pause before Brindle voiced the concerns she had held back. "You know, they probably won't survive the dry season by themselves. The cub is lame."

Seph nodded his head in the direction of Zephre, even though he knew the blind lion couldn't actually see him do it. I guess one would call it habit, though he knew Zaphre probably already knew he was there by his scent.

Elsewhere Gado crouched, low to the ground, hidden well by the tall grass and dimming light. He watched the den from afar, keeping his presence hidden almost completely, or at least as best as one could. He continued to watch intently. If anyone found him he'd claim to be keeping watch, and in a way that was true. He was watching the motions and actions of all the cats of the pride, looking for something odd or suspicious. Something still didn't feel right. Maybe I'm just getting old... he grumbled.

Etana looked up at the entrance to the den when a shadow fell over it. A large, snowy lion stood there, his pallid eyes staring into space as he spoke.

So this was Zephre. The black leopard dipped her head in respect, not really knowing why. It was just an impulse that she gave in to without thought. She had seen others of the Pride do it many times in the short time that she had been with them, as well.

"Etana," she replied, something about the old lion putting her more at ease. "It is a pleasure indeed. I've been told you can help to heal my sister," she continued, hope glowing in her topaz eyes despite herself.

Dene mewled happily when the lion appeared at the entrance of the den. There were so many new cats here, all so different and fascinating. Zephre's coat, for example, fascinated her with it's flawless whiteness. He looked like he had been carved out of the moon.

Tucking her bad leg beneath her, she limped toward him before Etana could stop her. She wanted to know what the moon smelled like, what it felt like. She sat herself down between Zephre's great paws, leaning against one of his legs to support her weight as she took her good paw off of the ground, placing it over his. The contrast in size was colossal.

((Okies, little clarification that may or may not be necessary:
Zephre's den is were Etana and Dene where brought, Zephre has just come from the central den where Bianca and the cubs are and...he's not old. He's about 5, 25 in human years. He's only a year older than Etana if I remember right....carved out of the moon...daww! 4laugh ))

Zephre was about to answer the new cat when he felt pressure on his paw. He stood for a moment in surprise, unsure of how to react.
For most of his life he had been used to cubs fearing him at first, his eyes were blank and white as his coat, and they frightened many of the little ones who saw them for the first time.

"Your sister...I assume?"

Slowly, very slowly he lowered his great head and took in the scent of the little cub, half expecting her to dart away.

"Do you mean her illness? Or her bad leg?" he questioned softly, "Because, if I have time, and cooperation I may be able to do both."

His voice was light, and he spoke carefully. If one were to meet only his voice they would conclude it too young to know as much as it boasted, but know Zephre did. Under the tutelage of the old healer he did nothing but commit to memory the scents of healing plants and their many properties, as well as methods of application. Not only did he know all of what the previous healer had known but he was discovering new healing plants on his numerous excursions into the forest and onto the plains.
He did not need to see her eyes but heard the hope in her voice. A tone that made him want to do everything he could to make that hope reality.

"Tami, we should go and find the herb we need for the little one."

((Okay, sorry, there was other stuff that other people said that made Zephre seem older than that, and I forgot how old he really was. sweatdrop ))

Dene felt a warm puff of air at her head, and glanced up to see Zephre's huge head, sniffing at her. She gave another small mewl, stretching her neck up to lap once at his nose with her tiny pink tongue, then shook her head with a mighty sneeze. She looked back up into his eyes; they were pure white. Fascinating.

Etana's head shot up with surprise and an overwhelming rush of hope when Zephre spoke. It wasn't possible, was it? No. Dene would never walk normally again... or would she?

"Her leg..." the black leopard managed to sputter, "...y-you can heal her leg?"
The cub's deadly pneumonia was temporarily forgotten in her sister's mind. It was too much to hope for... and yet Etana found herself hoping. Hoping with all that she was.

(( It would be reasonable to assume Etana would be confused (at first) of Zephre's age, since Seph mentioned him being an 'old coot' jokingly in her presence, right? But we all know he ain't old... yet. XD Also, I'm just making up stuff about 'quarantine dens' so if that doesn't exist, please ignore. ^^ ))

Thela had followed Zephre back to his den; not for guiding, of course. Blind he may be, but he had walked their lands for many years. But she shadowed slightly behind him, to the left, as they made quick time towards the new ones.

She watched the new ones reactions to him; most amusing was the cub, who immediately hobbled towards the white lion. Thela's eyes narrows briefly at seeing the cub move more, as it was painful to watch. She felt relieved that Zephre could heal the young one. Since she was so young, she could grow out of the wound. Thela knew from experience that if one of their older outriders was maimed in such a way, not much could be done for their limb. Often they retired.

She smiled slightly at Etana's surprise to Zephre's statement. "Yes; of course he can. Zephre here can heal just about anything." She nodded to the lion before continuing. "While you all get the herb, shall we get these two settled somewhere? We can't take them over to the main cub den yet, of course..." She trailed off. Either they could stay at the healer's den, or they could use a small unused one further to the edge of the main den area, good for those under quarantine.

Seph's bright blue eyes twinkled slightly in the dimming light "If you have no more need for my presence, as it would appear, I shall take my leave. There was still some meat left on that Oryx we left behind" Seph spoke rather casually as he stretched. He always hated sitting like that, especially for so long. Letting his unusually long tail swish to one side and back again, he took a few steps away from the den before stopping. There he waited for the moment, just in case they felt they did still require him for something.

((Quarantine dens are a good idea, I like.))

Zephre almost started as Dene's little tongue grazed his nose. He blinked before a tiny smile crept over his muzzle. Slowly he pressed the bridge of his great nose against her tiny shoulder. It gave her support as the sneeze shook her body.
"Oh, well, I don't know about everything." Zephre chuckled the word, and flattened his ears in mild embarrassment at Thela's remark.
"But she's still young, I believe that with the right treatment she can grow out of it."
He raised his head and took a step forward, letting Dene rest against one of his paws. "There's an empty den not far from this one, Etana, take your little sister there, Thela, Seph, If one (or both for that matter) would watch over them. Call me if anything happens." With that he turned to Tami with a nod and started for the forest, which burned bright gold in the fading sunlight.

((I'm still waiting on Kiki's reply, I think she's the only one back at the main den now.))

"Zephre can and will tend to them, I'm sure. But I can not trust a strange female or her cub in my den, especially if the cub is sick. It will take time if they want to join, but until then or course we can help them through the dry season," Bianca stated as she exited the stream. She could shake of the water without hurting herself more, so she dripped as she nodded in thanks to Brindle and picked up the meat.

"Now, if you'll excuse me, I must see to my den. I'm sure they're all on high alert." Bianca nodded again. "I'll see our potenial members in awhile."

With that, Bianca limped back the cubs den, head held high.

Brindle looked on, standing for only a moment before following.
"My duites are finished for today, I'll have some of my hunters join the outriders on guard duty and accompany you."
With that she turned and loped away.
It wasn't long before she had done what she had said. Returning to the main den with another large chunk of meat. This she set at its entrance and waited for Bianca to give the okay for the cubs to come and eat. She would stand guard for the night, knowing full well how important the little ones were to the pride, and how worrying it was to have creatures attack the den site directly.

((has Kakash dissapeared ?))

Tami nodded, going after Zephre. "What specifically are we looking for? Aside from just about everything that we used earlier and are out of?" she asked, falling into step beside him.

((I know it's short, sorry... And for the record, you don't need to come up with names or anything specific, I don't expect you to or anything...))

Etana lowered her head again to the great lion, still a bit unable to believe what she was hearing.

"Thank you," she said quietly, her voice filled with sincerity and emotion, and she was afraid that if she spoke any louder that voice would crack.

She had to get a hold on herself. She and her sister were not yet safe here, and the young leopard knew better than to let her guard down. She lifted Dene gently from the ground as Zephre stood to leave, and watched him as he retreated into the forest with his apprentice. Could he really heal her baby sister?

The black leopard swept her gaze over the rest of the den and the two cats that remained. She flicked an ear, feeling a bit awkward, waiting for one of them to show her what she needed to do or where she needed to go.
