Something very like the barrier that had protected the dojo formed around Nyl this time, shooting outward and striking Seph before he got anywhere near touching her. He could be safe in assuming this was anger.
"What do you think that was, if not an emotion? Anger and hatred aren't the only things a person feels, Sephiroth!" He could also assume it was controlled anger, because she hadn't actually hurt him. "If I had started laughing, would you have considered that failure? Is it some great surprise to you that the 'true, unhampered' me is unbearably sad?"

Is it some great surprise to you that the 'true, unhampered' me is unbearably sad?" He was nearly toppled backward, but rebounded immediately, breaking through this barrier with a powerful sweep of his arm. His voice was extremely deep as he bellowed: "THIS EXCERSIZE FOCUSES ON TWO EMOTIONS. ANGER. And HATE. Do NOT mock my methods in my own Dojo. DO. YOU. UNDERSTAND ME?!"

"I can't hate! You can try all you like, but you'll never be able to make me hate anything! Yelling at me isn't going to do it, burning me isn't going to do it, and treating me like a child isn't, either." She was yelling, too, but not nearly as loudly. "Are you satisfied now? I'm angry."

He stopped and smiled gleefully, plopping down right infront of her. "Yes, I am!" He rubbed his head. "I was hoping to get a bit of fear out of you with that little explosion, but I forgot how well you know me." He grinned toothily at her. "Show me your palms, please."

She still stared at him coldly. She'd dropped the cold coals, but at his request her hands clenched into fists, painful as it was.
"There's no point."

Nyl Phairen She still stared at him coldly. She'd dropped the cold coals, but at his request her hands clenched into fists, painful as it was. "There's no point." He nodded. "Correct. Take note of how you feel right now. How you're reacting to being angry. What it causes you to do, how it causes you to speak. All of these things, though some are minorly influential, have some effect on how an emotion can effect Ho. We've covered Anger pretty thouroughly, I believe. Don't you?" He smiled at her. "Come on, let's get some more tea. Those wounds should heal over in a day or two. During that time, take it easy. The burns will probably scar, but they'll also callouse up. That's an important part of learning to withstand the temperatures you'll be encountering. You won't have to deal with coals again. No need to burn you anymore."

She still just stared at him. "I would like to know how you expect me to walk from here, or pick up a cup of tea." He was still talking to her as though she were a child, or perhaps borderline insane.

"It isn't."
She bit her lower lip to keep from making noise, pulled her shoes back on, and stood, arms crossed.

"I suppose as my sensei you can tell me to have tea and I have to do it." She'd stopped staring at him, and was now focusing on a spot just above the door. Her voice was wavering, though, from the effort of standing.

Her voice was wavering, though, from the effort of standing. "Nope. The lesson's over, and you passed. So, until I declare a new lesson, I don't consider myself Sensei. I consider myself Friend." He nodded to this, inwardly proud of what he felt was solid insight.

"Oh really? I didn't know the position was so easily cast aside." She didn't specify whether she meant sensei or friend. She walked out, though every step made her flinch and inhale sharply. "If you want to make tea, then make it."

He was used to this type of reaction, though it did hold a certain sting to it, considering Nyl was one of his best friends. He knew he had put her through a situation she won't soon forget, he just prayed she didn't linger on this for too long. He followed her outside the doors, the bookcase shutting behind him...
