Coal watched Iregi. He had been resting out on the deck because it felt good to him to be that close to the sky. Rash was sleeping, her head in his lap. The two of them were very close.

Freeda was dressed for bed and was now fiddling with the anti-elementalist bracelet. Faraday was pacing, "Are you sure you want to do this? The effect could be permanent it you put it on."
Freeda looked up, "I have to. I don't want to accidently burn the ship down if I have a nightmare. Also I have to be sure that it could stop an elementalist, or we couldn't beat the Quisidor and live." She eyeballed the bracelet in fear. She took a few seconds before she attached the bracelet, and when she put it on, Freeda felt unspeakable pain, like thousands of pointed needles in every fiber of her wrist. She gritted her teeth to keep herself from screaming at the top of her lungs.

Iregi jumped suddenly. He'd felt something strange "Th-the hell was that?" he stuttered, glancing around. That was some strange feeling he got just then.

Freeda gave out short, muffled cries, before the pain dulled.

Maia woke up at that moment. She got redressed and came out into the hallway, hearing strange sounds from inside Freeda and Faraday's room, she knocked on the door. "Uh...are you guys ok?"

Coal did not move, but showed his awareness of the strange feeling. He ran his fingers through Rash's hair as she slept and silently prayed.

Mac put the shard away yet again, and went into the cabin section and noticed comotion. "What's going on" he questioned his friends.

Freeda didn't open the door because she didn't want them to see her tears. She said in the most controled voice she could muster, " I'm ok....Faraday just got careless and caught something on fire....but everythings ok."

"Um, alright..." Maia said turning slowly and walking away from Freeda's door. She went out on the deck, sitting next to Iregi. "Hey..."
"Hey..."
There was a momentary silence
"I guess we could practice some, you'll need it for later.
"Ok."
"Well, first I've got to tell you a secret.."

Faraday had a concerned look on hre face, "Light something..." Freeda sat up and cancentrated on an unlit candle. As she pushed for it to lite, the stronger the bracelet resisted. Beads of sweat appeared on her forehead. It was only when she had trouble breathing did she stop trying to lite the candle. Faraday sighed, "At least we know it works."

Faraday spoke this time, "Nothings 'up' and are you sure it isn't appart of your imagination?" Freeda was still shaking a little from exaution.
