One by one the wolves smashed into the cliff side. There would be a rustling sound, and then an explosion of ice crystals. There was no noise. Mitsuko's wolves were silent. Rouga was not showing any emotions, but was inwardly surprised that Mitsuko had not yet run out of chakra and spirit.

Mitsuko was tired. There was no other word for it. She had expected to master this technique much sooner but it was trickier than she thought. There was no way that ice can smash rocks, and she had the sneaky suspicion that Raiga was taunting her.

Suddenly, she had an idea. While commanding a wolf to run into the wall, she sent a jolt of electricity into the cliff and weakened the crevices in the wall. As the wolf collided with the stone, part of the cliff side collapsed and fell down.

Rouga was pissed. Had Mitsuko's wolf actually shattered rock? Even his own wolves cannot do that. Grimacing, Rouga called off the training and announced that they would learn the next jutsu the coming day.

Mitsuko really was uncertain. How could she maintain something that big? At least there isn't much motiion to memorize, unlike the wolves. Mitsuko shook off her sense of uncertainty and made the hand seals. The snow churned violently and a huge wolf leapt out of the snow.

Rouga nearly fell down. The wolf is powerful, but it takes too much chakra to maintain its movements. "The attack is called one horned white whale, not wolf!" Mitsuko grimaced. She just couldn't get the wolf out of her head.
She tried again. This time, a half canine half fish thing appeared. Mitsuko didn't know whether to laugh or to cry.

Rouga told Mitsuko that the beast didn't have to move, but Mitsuko liked to take things beyond their limits. Right now she was riding on the back of a gigantic swordfish made entirely out of ice. The sword fish was swimming in partially frozen water.

Mitsuko concentrated and felt kinda stupid. If the fish sank, she was gonna fall in and freeze to death. Rouga was watching this display from a distance. Mitsuko was making good progress, but he was still angry that she didn't heed his advice.

As Mitsuko began to run out of chakra, she directed the sword fish toward the bank and it leapt out of the water.

The swordfish rose up from the surface of the pond, and then sank again. It rose, and then it sank. Mitsuko was trying to make this pattern more frequent, but it wasn't easy. Ice wasn't meant to sink and then jump 20 feet in the air.

A snowball whistled pass her head and Mitsuko lost her concentration. The swordfish immediately dissolved. There were five kids having a snowball fight behind her. Mitsuko paused for a moment and tried to remember what her childhood was like. There wasn't really much snowfall in hidden mist nor was there much interaction between children. Mitsuko started felling lonely again. To curb the sadness, Mitsuko resumed training.

Density, thought Mitsuko as she examined the dents in the cliffside. The ice has done a bit of damage, but the rock was obviously stronger. "Hyoton: Ikkaku Hakugei!!" shouted Mitsuko as the snow churned around her once again. A gigantic swordfish leapt out and struck the cliffside, and----- stuck there.

Mitsuko was so surprised that she almost lost concentration. Did she strike some soft rock, pumice perhaps. She examined the stone surface, and found no difference. She has finally reached the correct density point that gives ice the necessary strength. Mitsuko clapped herself on the back and walked away to celebrate. She had hardly gone five steps when she heard a huge crash behind her.

Knowing all the risks of overusing chakra, Mitsuko shouted out defiantly:"I'll show you that my fish is just as strong as your beached whale! Hyoton: Ikkaku Hakugei!!" The swordfi snow, and the sun glittered off its massive exterior and its sharp fins and nose tip. Laughing, Rouga countered by calling his own whale, a large white bulk with a spiral horn. Rouga’s whale gave off a eerie moan as it headed for the sword fish. Eventhough it was cold, perspiration formed on Mitsuko’s brow as she put ALL of her remaining chakra inside this one attack.

The two beasts collided and for an instant, the air was littered with crystals. Mitsuko smiled and fell to her knees. Rouga frowned but kept his composure. Mitsuko wins.

Ice Release: One horned white whale/Hyoton: Ikkaku Hakugei

"Hyōton: Haryū Mōko!" shouted Rouga. Mitsuko wasn't really surprised that the snow churned and a large tiger rose up. However, she was surprised at how cold she felt to be near the tiger.

It was well below zero degrees. She had never learned how to lower the temperature, so it would be quite difficult for her to learn it. The manipulation of the tiger's movements should be a piece of cake, however. Mitsuko copied Rouga and created the tiger, but the tiger was not nearly as cold as Rouga's.

Rouga smirked and gave her a nasty smile:"It will take some practice to lower the temperature down to that level, but why don't you try it?"

Incredible, thought Mitsuko. Rouga was much smarter than she thought. The only problem was that he doesn't have much defensive techniques, like the one she was working on just before he started this.

Mitsuko washed her hands and left for the training grounds. First, she tried to make a dome of very cold ice, but it was harder than she thought. All she did was make half a ball of absolute zero temperature. The shape is so refined, thought Mitsuko. Then she remembered Haku's ice needles and how refined they were. Mitsuko created hundreds of fine needles and lined them up. Then she preceded to cement them together with her chakra.

After a few seconds, a very thin wall of ice stood before her.
