"Well then don't call it disbelief," Elrohir replied with a grin. "Call it ... limited imagination. I couldn't picture them inside my head, couldn't imagine what they might be like. It wasn't that I didn't believe you."
"And we certainly didn't imagine we would see them all the way out here," Haradhel added. "We sort of assumed they would need to stay in water ... like fish."

Donovan mused thoughtfully, out of all the creatures the mers and any half water bound creature were hard to pin down. They could breath under water, so they weren't like dolphins, but they did not have gills so they were not bound to the water like fish.
"Well mers are an odd lot, they're not like most air breathing creatures since they can breath under water, but they don't have gills, so the problems with breathing air outside of water does not occur with them. Though most don't go out of the water like they do because of the lack of legs, those two were just special to be able to gain that much for periods of time."

"Through magic, then, I would assume," Haradhel commented. "Unless they're shapeshifters, like Elnara is ... though then I imagine that their time out of the water wouldn't be limited, would it?"

Donovan mused on how to explain this, because it was like Elnara, but with severe limitations, "Magic would be the better word for it, rather than shapeshfting. They can't change their nature, if they use up too much energy they turn back, and they can only change into things that hold qualities of them."
He ticked of the list of things he noticed.
"Like as humans they're tall, but only because their tails are very long, human is the easiest form. They only have one other form but it's difficult for them."

Ulrich couldn't help but chuckle. "Well, it looks as though energy is one thing that Feng isn't lacking," he laughed, nodding to where the mermaid was bouncing around in her chair.

"What other form do they take?" Elrohir asked curiously. "I don't suppose it's a fish?" He chuckled - but it did make the most sense. "Though of that was it, I suppose it wouldn't be quite so difficult for them ... is it something completely different, then?"

Once Feng finished her meal, she bounced up with a spell under her breath as she got to her feet and yanked on Ryu's arm. Fortunately, despite their stages of growth, they had not grown out of being at the same pace as each other so Ryu was already done when he was promptly pulled out of his seat.
"All done!" she grinned at Aliya.

Donovan looked thoughtful, since he knew some races while the same were different as well. He was sure he had seen some sketches of phoneixes around and he wasn't sure what they deemed a dragon would look like.
"They take the forms of Gaia's version of a phoneix and dragon," he explained.

Aliya grinned. "Great!" she exclaimed, jumping up from her own seat. "Then let's go!" And she beckoned for them to follow her, out of the house and towards the stables once more.

"Gaia's version?" Haradhel repeated in a surprised tone, one eyebrow rising curiously. "Then your phoenixes and dragons are different from ours?"
Elrohir poked her gently in the ribs. "It's not like you've ever seen either of them," he pointed out.
"But that's beside the point," Haradhel quipped, grabbing his finger and holding his hand tightly with both of hers. "I've seen pictures of them, heard stories."

Feng grinned at this new adventure as she dragged Ryu out, though one could hear Ryu protesting that he was more than capable of walking on his own two feet. it was just in the back of Feng's mind she was use to having to drag Ryu around whenever she wanted to do something.

Donovan nodded, "I've seen a few carvings around the castle, and were told they were phoenixes, but they aren't as I recall seeing pictures of growing up... Dragons well... there are several types, the dragons of the east and dragons of the west look different from one another. So..." he shrugged a bit, "I say Gaia's version, since I'm sure either way I look at it, they're probably different from what you're use to."

Haradhel looked around for Aliya, but when she saw that the girl was already gone, she smiled apologetically at Donovan.
"Well, it looks as if Aliya can't show you what ours look like," she murmured. "I would, but ... as I said, I don't know."
