The Ghost of Xmas Awesome

PostPosted: Sat Aug 22, 2009 1:54 pm

Xenon gazed down at the fool at his feet, gibbering and pleading. There was nothing in his expression, merely a business like manner, his wrists flicking, Senbon slipping in between his fingers. "How unprofessional." he said coldly.

Tokouya's eyes went wide...his tears thinning as they came from his eyes. "You... you can't...I can't die like this... I'm-...I'm not supposed to die like this!"

Xenon blinked unsympathetically "You're simpering will do you no good. You were dead the moment you entered this alley," the three shimmering Senbon in his hand seemed to glisten. "You're nothing but a self important coward, if you truly had an ounce of dignity you'd accept you're defeat...but some people don't know when to accept defeat gracefully..." his gaze narrowed. "I could have killed you the moment you charged, but I let you try and impress me, you failed. You've had ample opportunities to live and you ignored them all..."

"But...but please! You believe in mercy don't you!!?"

Xenon didn't respond to the question, he merely continued to stare at him heartlessly. "Please understand the reason I'm fighting you at all is merely out of efficiency... I don't blame you for your faults, and I don't hate you, but that also means no matter how much you beg, it won't save your life. Had you somehow found a way to appeal to my emotions, I might have considered it, but as it is..." his eyes seemed completely unflinching. "This kill is impersonal."

"NO! PLE-" But three senbon sunk into his throat... and Tokouya Uchiha said nothing forever more. Xenon reached into his coat and took his glasses out, placing them back on the bridge of his nose.

"Spare yourself further embarrassment... die with some repose." Tokouya made as though to gasp...but blood was filling his lungs. He couldn't see anymore... he was...he was... "Don't worry...heaven has mercy on fools. It's not your fault." Xenon's tone had changed somehow...slightly.

There a strange look on Tokouya's face, like he was... surprised, surprised by what, no one would ever know, for shortly after...and an even stranger smile came over his face, like he wanted to laugh then, at last, Stillness crept over the Uchiha's body...and he was gone.

With an undaunted expression Xen bent down an pulled out his senbon, only one damaged by the victims ribcage. (-1 Senbon) He'd have to clean these when he got home... zipping them away in a bag he carried in one of his many pockets and put them away.

He looked down at the face of the slain assassin, his own curiously empathetic. 'Better luck in your next life.' he reached up two fingers, and slowly pulled down the lids over the frozen sharingan eyes, closing them. Though he wouldn't believe it himself... he could've sworn that the strange smile, got just a bit wider... just a bit.

Xen got back to his feet. "I suppose I should report this..."

The reporting chuunin looked Xenon up and down. "I see....so that's your statement?"

"Yes Sir." Xen confirmed with no trace of trepidation.

The Chuunin nodded. "We found evidence to back you up... this kid apparently stole a look at your school records... we found a copy of them in his apartment, he must have used the Sharingan to memorize and replicate them... it really is freaky what those eyes can do..." he looked at Xen with some slight curiosity. "So...you...killed him by yourself did you?"

"I said I did."

The Chuunin rubbed the back of his neck "Well yeah but..." he looked at the body being loaded into the morgue stretcher. "Medic nin say they found signs of intense mental hemorrhaging... add to that the precision of those Needle hits...and I mean...he's a rank up on you and an Uchiha..."

Xenon pushed up his glasses. "I suppose it was luck...if that's all Sir..."

The Chuunin seemed to recall "Oh, yes, you may go. But bare in mind someone higher up may want to speak with you. We'll try and find out who was paying him."

Xenon nodded "Thank you sir."

As Xenon left the chuunin crossed his arms. 'Luck my a**... that kid destroyed that Uchiha, and all he got a bloody lip from it? He's no ordinary kid...'

Raine took a back alley, he didn't want to be seen with such scars. He was making his way up the hill, back towards the housing district, every once-and-a-while a person would pass by and stair, he was oddly emotionless and empty. Training with Aoshiro... what had that got him.... nothing but, he could only feel anger, anger and sadness. His eye welled once more, and Raine sobbed in the back alley, finally letting his tears through. He had no one to protect anymore, he could just be by himself and feel the depth of taking someone else's life. It felt as if there was fresh blood coating his hands and he sliced into his enemies neck. The boy sobbed even harder, and the cool morning air froze the warm beads on his cheeks. His small voice echoing in the alley.

High above a vivid teen hopped the roof tops gazing down for a bright red head, that was one good thing about Raine's hair. You could spot him anywhere. And luckily there was no one in the marketplaces just yet, the village was quietly stirring. Figuring that the small boy had headed home, Lavi started up towards the Tekkenseisai domain. Hopping from roof to roof, checking by the people as he went, a smile across his face as he felt the new weight on his thigh. Passing an alley hidden from the sun a poke of red and skin, he almost didn't see it, had it not been for the odd noise reverberating up towards him. Crying? Lavi stopped turning back, his boots clicking against the stone, a brick canyon below him. He stepped back quickly gazing down, at a small boy. Crying? It couldn't be, Raine didn't cry like this... but. The hair! Lavi jumped down, clopping before his small friend and running forward, grabbing the sobbing boy, worried something was wrong. "What's Wrong! Raine!" the boy stopped as Raine lifted his arm from his eyes and exposed his chest, deep thick wounds running along his body. He lost his breath, stopping and staring.

Raine was caught, he had planned to hide his shame, his sin that was so deeply cut into his body. But as his friend came to him, Raine shook his head. "Lavi I'm sorry! I had to do it. I didn't mean to, and than they cut me, and he killed the old man. I didn't know what to do Lavi! I'm sorry, I stabbed him, I'm sorry!" the boy sobbed stepping forward and grabbing his friends waist, the older boy shaking his head. He couldn't understand in the hysteria. Raine pushed his face into the older boy, grabbing him like he used to heisai. His fist tightening around lavi's shirt.

The older boy stared down in horror. What could have happened? What could this mean, the older boy held Raine against him, before pulling him back and leaning down. Holding Raine's shoulders tight, "Raine what happened to you?" he looked down at the shivering boy. His bare skin, swollen and red, scars that looked as if they had been made a few minutes ago it wasn't possible.

Raine tried to breathe, he looked into his friends bright green eyes and tried to stop, "Lavi, I'm sorry. I....I went to train with a man. Aoshrio, he mugged me, and didn't take my money and I followed him, and he made me lift big rocks. Than there was a mission, and an old man, bandits, medicine, and they shot me with an arrow, but we were in the trees. And I hit him, and he fell, and he hit his head, and there was blood and brains. *Sob* Oh god, I didn't mean it, I swear! *Sob* and than a big guy, a big guy with a big sword. Like in Taki, and it was Taki his headband, and he sliced me chest, and than he killed the old man, he cut him in half out of nowhere. Nowhere! *sob* and I killed him lavi. I'm sorry, I stabbed him with my Nakkurru, and he bled so much, *Sob*" Raine fell and kneeled leaning into Lavi. He felt so broken, so empty and sad. The older boy still staring in horror, Lavi looked down, how could he have let this happen. He had promised to keep Raine safe. Lavi sat while Raine cried and cried, until he was finally calming and his breath steadying. "Heisai is so ashamed." the teen had no clue what Raine was saying, but pulled off his coat, pulling it over the small boy, and picking him up.

"Raine you have to report to the kage... he wanted to see you." the small boy looked up surprised. Holding onto Lavi. The older boy jumped up again, headed back for the blue building.

Kimiko was passing the shops one by one, her eyes darting back and forth between the paper in her hand, and the numbers along the sides of the shops. 'Ummm... okay... so... this one? No...this one? No....OH!' she stopped, her face becoming bright as she finally found the matching number she'd been seeking. The street had been easy to find but there were so many shops along it it was difficult to find the actual address. But finally this seemed to be it.

Entering inside, she smelt the distinct scent of freshly cut wood, and the soft feel of floating sawdust filled the air. She approached the man at the counter with her glee still in tact, her smile at full power. "Um excuse me..."

The man behind the counter, who'd been reading a newspaper, lowered it, smiling when he saw her. "Well, well," he was talking to her rather childishly "What can I do for you little girl...did your daddy send you her for a Lumber order?"

Kimiko sweat slightly "Um...no..." she held up the Mission statement. "I'm here about the mission you posted? To move some shipment right?"

The man stared for a moment...then looked a little exasperated. "You...you can't be serious..." her set his paper aside and crossed his arms rather vexed. "Hey...you can't be serious, listen little girl I specifically ask for someone with a sturdy pair of arms, not some freshly cut academy student...do you even have your head band yet?"

Kimiko looked a little deflated "Well...no but-"

"Have you even done another mission before?"

Kimiko now looked indignant "Yes! I have as a matter of fact!"

The man raised an eyebrow "By yourself?"

Kimiko deflated again "W-well....no but-"

"Uh huh." He stared with a rather skeptic look "Listen little girl if your so desperate for ryo I'll pay you but-"

Suddenly though Kimiko looked angry "HEY BUDDY!" She practically broke the counter with her sudden out burst. "I'm not some little sissy okay!" She seized his collar "I'm not looking for hand outs! I'm going to be a real ninja AND a champion of justice! So just show me the stuff you need moved okay!" Her eyes were burning with passion.

The man looked completely blown away "Y-yeah sure...in the back here..." Kimiko released him, smiling again.

"Great."

The Store owner pointed to the ten enourmous crates full of lumber, then gestured to where he wanted them moved. "And I need them moved by the end of the day." He looked a little doubtful still "I couldn't move all that myself and my boys are out of town on business... I thought a ninja could do it but..." he looked at her doubtfully.

Kimiko didn't seem to notice. "Oh these? No problem!" She walked forward and wrapped her arms around the first large crate. "Okay! One, two-"

The store owner looked a little smug. 'I could barely get one of those off the ground... there's no way she'll be able to move them, I'll just give a her a pat on the head and get someone el-"

"Heave!" With strength completely disproportional to her size, the young teen pulled the crate completely into the air, supporting into on her back. "Oh wow," she said slightly strained. "Theses ARE heavy, don't though sir, I'll take care of them." She took the first crate into the designated zone before sliding it unto the ground and dusting her hands, stretching her arms from the excercise. "Okay! Next one!"

The Store owner was staring with bug eyes...

Kimiko herself meanwhile was feeling the strain already from carrying the crates. 'Wow...that store man wasn't kidding... but... I CAN'T fail...there's no way... I'm going to do this with NO problem! I'll show him I'm totally worthy of being a Ninja! I am a champion of justice!"

As she set the crate down she took a moment to breath before heading straight back to the crates, her face completely set on success.

Kimiko struggled with the third box, but the Manager had already returned to the front of the store to deal with customer, still occasionally checking back in with interest. Who'd have thought such a petite little thing could even budge those crates. He wasn't one to underestimate Ninja certainly, but at the same time he didn't expect this kind of performance from someone who wasn't even out of the academy yet...

Kimiko wiped some sweat from her brow, taking a moment to catach her breath. 'Okay, I just can't rush myself that's all...I just need to keep myself in top condition. She leaned against her burden for a few more seconds before springing back up and pulling a strand of her hair out from her face. 'Alright...I just have to remember why I'm doing this... I just have to remember my goal...' she seemed to touch the necklace hanging around her neck to aide in this reminder, and turned to face her wooden adversary. "Okay box, get ready to be moved!"

Kimiko heaved the third box just as she had the first two, lugging it over with a scrunched look of determination in place. Setting it down she discovered the store manager had returned. "Oh, I'm still working at it sir." Kimiko reported diligently.

The store manager held up and hand "Oh no, it's alright I understand, don't push yourself." he crossed his arms as he watched her go back and start sizing up the fourth crate. "If you don't mind me asking miss, I never caught your name..."

Kimiko still seemed pleasant despite the manual labor "Oh! I'm sorry sir." She gave a sort of amateur salute. "I'm Academy Student Kimiko Momoe."

Suddenly the man's face went into shock "W-wait?! Momoe...your not...Keisuke's daughter are you?!"

Kimiko tilted her head quizzically forgetting her project for the sake of curiosity. "Do you know my dad sir?"

The man was looking suddenly over exasperated, a large sweat mark over his head. Well now it all made sense. So this girl was that nutcase's daughter...no wonder was she was so strong... he chuckled to himself. "I've met him a few times. So your his daughter eh... heh. I'm Tokomino, Raito Tokomino, nice to meetcha miss Momoe."

Kimiko nodded politely, assuring "And you as well Mister Tokomino." before returning to the crate...

Kimiko lifted the fourth box with a smile and a huff, carrying the rather sizable load to where the others she'd moved where stacked. While she was clearly having to try, the fact she was able to lift them at all was evidence she was FAR stranger the Mister Tokomino. 'I feel downright emasculated...' he joked mentally, watching the girl lift boxes almost larger than she was. 'Still...I can't even imagine what kind of training her father puts her through...with that fruit loop I'll bet he's got her doing laps around the village on her hands or something...'

Kimiko wiped her brow, seemingly filling herself with energy with the mere will to succeed. She rubbed her shoulder testily as she returned to the rest of the crates, once more sizing up her next victim.

"So, Kimiko."

She looked over at her employer, still with her same pleasantness. "Hm?"

"Does your father train you much? I'd imagine with the academy down he's been working you rather hard, the exams up so soon and all."

She waved her hand looking suddenly a little disappointed. "No, My dad doesn't train me at all, he's always going on about he can't stand to see me become an unstoppable machine of destruction or something." she puffed up her cheeks in a rather unique pout. "He used to teach me taijutsu... but now I have to rely on my mom for training."

Tokomino seemed interested. He'd never met Keisuke's wife... she must've been a truly terrifying woman though, to keep Keisuke in line. "I see...and your mother, she's a shinobi too is she?"

Kimiko nodded, putting a finger to her chin as she seemed to plot how she was going to lift the next box...

Kimiko hoisted the box at last, with a rather light hearted nudge she readjusted her grip and ferried it to it's destination. "My mom's name's Sanako. And yeah, she's a returned Shinobi just like my dad."

Tokomino tapped his chin. Sanako, the name didn't ring any bells, still, that didn't mean anything. He didn't really expect to know every Oto Shinobi. He paid attention to the ones who'd made something of a reputation for themselves, but that was fair few and far between. "I see, well, your mother must really be working you, I must say I'm quite impressed."

Kimiko set the fifth box down, waving her hand as though this was nothing "No, this isn't really anything impressive... I mean...it's not like I can do anything really impressive yet...I don't even have my own sword yet."

Tokomino seemed interested. "Oh? So your a swordsmaiden are you?"

Kimiko rubbed the back of her head almost bashfully "Well...I mean, I don't even know if I'd say that...my Mom's been teaching me how to use one int the mornings, and her trainings pretty intense, but I've just been using a wooden sword, like I said, I don't even have a real blade."

Tokomino was impressed to find to that Kimiko had already moved more than half the crates... as she set down the sixth along with the others, he remarked. "Well I've got to say, katana's go for an awful lot these days...they're around a hundred Ryo..."

Kimiko looked suddenly discouraged "Yeah...I know...I'm starting to think there's no way I'll finish saving up before the exams... I might have to rely on my Taijutsu and Ninjutsu..."

Tokomino stroked his face thoughtfully. "Hmm, well...you seem like your punches would pact some wallop...what kinds of Ninjutsu do you know? Just the academy ones?"

Kimiko shook her head "No, I know the Grand fire ball jutsu."

Tokomino was nodding in approval "I see, I see, yes, you occasionally see and Uchiha going into the Exam knowing that, it does give an edge." He seemed to be thinking "Well...I suppose you've considered asking your mother for one haven't you?"

Kimiko puffed her cheeks in what was apparently her signature pout "Yeah... my mom says no way."

Kimiko nodded "Thank you sir." she looked suddenly a little intense. "So long as I don't have to face my rival...I think I'll be okay..."

Tokomino seemed a little intrigued, his face cracking into a rather wide smile as he scooted up a chair to listen to her. "Oh? A rival eh? Tell me about them."

Kimiko seemed to become spirited the moment the issue was raised. "He's a big jerk, but he's really good with chakra and stuff like that... he was always a really smart person..." she was frowning as she seemed to be gauging a new tactic to tackle the seventh box with. "He's always really selfish and stuff, but that's why it's my duty as a heroine to make him understand the truth of love and justice!"

Tokomino laughed in good humor "I see, and this rival, does he know he's been challenged?"

Kimiko pointed to herself with a cocky grin "Of course! We're mutually acknowledged rivals!" she turned back to the crate a thoughtful expression taking over. "He's stronger than I am now though, for right now, that's why I've got to work even harder."

Kimiko finally managed to raise the crate, her truly disproportional strength showing it's head yet again.

"He's stronger than you?" Tokomino asked almost disbelieving.

Kimiko huffed as she sat down the crate with it's brethren. Dusting her hands free of the saw dust that seemed to have collected from the air. "Well, no, not stronger like STRONGER...I mean...like..." she frowned. "I don't think there's any way I could beat him as I am now."

Tokomino seemed to understand "So this rival, he's a skilled fighter."

Kimiko ran a hand through her hair as she returned the last three shipping containers, sizing up which to take next. "Yeah...but...it's more than that." Tokomino raised an eyebrow. "I mean..." Kimiko seemed to look distant for a moment. "I have a feeling he's more skilled then me...in fact I'd bet what I've saved up so far... but it's not the only thing that makes me know I couldn't beat him..."

"Then...what is?" The store owner seemed absorbed now in her story.

Kimiko scratched the side of her face almost cluelessly "I...I don't even think I could hit him...I mean...he's really fast...but that's not what I mean..." she tilted her head as she seemed to decide on which box to take next. "Every time I get close to actually touch him I just...can't think straight, I get scared and...what?"

Tokomino seemed to know something she didn't "Oh," the store manager insisted "Nothing it's noting, please go on." he seemed suddenly as though he'd like nothing more than to hear more.

Tokomino seemed to be very amused about something, but Kimiko didn't notice, returning to the matter of how to move the stubborn container before her.

"I see..." Tokomino said at last. "Well...do you think he could attack you?"

Kimiko seemed a little surprised at the question. "I...I'm not sure...
