Donato followed along into the Great Hall without much comment. He had nothing much to say to the entire situation aside from a sympathetic grin to Eula. Upon finding his wrist released in the Great Hall and Eula making her way to the kitchens with an ever-growing entourage, he shifted awkwardly as he was left alone with Shaftin again. He heard the beginning of his speech with a bit of relief, before being brought up short by its conclusion. Should've seen it coming.... "Heh... yessir!" He promised with an embarrassed grin. Eula, come back... How she would laugh at his squirming. Well... then again.
Jude entered quietly, indeed from the cellars. He was lugging a wheel of cheese up from the cool, dark room beneath the kitchen. The mouse had grown in the past five years, although he was still rather small. At any rate, he wore the dark green habit of Friar under his great apron - he had been the de facto ruler of the kitchens for ages, he had just accepted that it was official at last. He picked up the cheese and set in on a counter in the corner only to see a strange young hare nicking candied chestnuts! He opened his mouth to protest indignantly, only to see Faith heading for the plums.... He sighed. "Of course I understand, Mother Abbess..." He started with a cheery voice, belied by the glance he shot at the young chestnut-snatcher. "Um..." He lost a bit of his momentum as he saw the small crowd standing just inside the doorway. "Can I... help you all?"

Payton's eyes rolled back in his head as he chewed on the delicious sweet. Not even caring if his sister caught him now, he popped another chestnut into his mouth in great satisfaction. He paid Faith no heed, and turned to go get another handful of chestnuts when a mouse wandered into the kitchen.
"Who'a 'oo?" Payton asked around a mouthful of chestnuts. "'M Pay'on." Well. At least he had manners.
Eula shot her younger brother a disgusted look. "Hey Jude, I'm really sorry. Apparently I needed a consort for this very important mission."
"That little criminal over there-"
Payton put on the best insulted face he could muster with his mouth filled with chestnuts.
"-is my brother Payton. He and my father have come down to visit. Sorry to be such a bother... but there's the four of us," she said, referring to herself, Payton, Faith and Terra. "... and two..." And then she realized they had left Donato out in the Hall with her father. She grinned. "Still out there. So lunch for six. Or seven, if you'd like to join us," she offered with a smile.
Now that he had gotten that out of the way, he figured that they could speak amicably. "How long have you two been together now?"

Jude looked at the hare with raised eyebrows, blinking as he spoke with his mouth full. "Sorry, didn't understand a word of that...," although he didn't sound very sorry at all. He turned his face toward Eula as she began to explain, looking a bit embarrassed as she explained that the little raider was her brother. "Oh! Well, pleased to meet you," he offered to Payton with a trace of apology. He grinned at Eula, "Thanks, seven then. Go ahead, I'll bring out lunch in a few minutes," he said, shooing to preclude any offers of help. ...Jude and his kitchen.
Donato chuckled a bit at the shift in the tone of Shaftin's words. "Ah... it'll be three years this winter."

Thank you, kind Friar! ::At least she managed a quick thanks, a she slowly made her way back down the steps, throwing a great big smile at him, one now quite covered in red plum juice... it was rather easy to spot the red color against white fur, and all over those bandaged paws::
::Guaranteed, this would be one her mother to spot right away, but at least she quickly came clean:: Plums are wonderful, by the way!
::And Jude may suddenly have wanted to add another seat to their company, as sloooowly, a pair of eyes began to loom downward on Payton, mid-snacking on a chestnut, when a paw suddenly reached out and tapped his shoulder, another one waiting until he'd turn around to see the thin air and nab one of his prized chestnuts!::

Eula smiled a little, pleased that Jude has actually taken her offer to join them for lunch. She shook her head a little. "You don't have to be nice to him, it's okay. He's just a little miscreant."
Payton swallowed what was in his mouth and frowned. "A what?"
"Can't have 'brother' without 'bother,' " Eula rolled her eyes.
"Yeah, well, you can't have sister without... si... tr... st.. er..." Payton blinked, a look of intense concentration on his features as he attempted to twist the letters around to insult Eula.
"That isn't working out for you," Eula laughed. "Come on, let's get out of Jude's way."
"All right," Payton had apparently given up and went to follow Eula out of the kitchen when he was tapped on his shoulder. "Huh?" he turned, and then he felt a chestnut stolen from his paws. "Hey! That's mine!" He twisted around to try and get a look at the culprit.
Shaftin was a little surprised by that. Two and a half years? He supposed he shouldn't be so surprised by it... it had been five years since he'd seen them. Still. Obviously this was not some flash in the pan relationship. Again, he wasn't quite sure what to think about it.
Well. "So what do you do here? How do you keep yourself busy?" He figured it couldn't hurt to get to know Donato a little better.

::But of course, there was no one there either as he twisted round again::
::Only when he would look forward once more would he see the mischievous eyes , and the upside down grin, as Gem clung there from the rack of pots and pans, before waving:: He-llo! ::She cried, sing song, before munching the chestnut down noisily amid giggles::
::And the wings flung open, as she suddenly THREW herself onto Payton in a brilliant hug, wings and all:: You're Eula's brother, we'rebestfriendsandIknowwellbetoo!! Oooooooh!!! Welcome to our abbey!!!!
Could we have another lunch? ::Faith asked, holding back her own laughter at the scene, wondering herself which of the two Eula could consider the lesser evil:: I think Gem's going to join us now...
::What WAS Payton to make of Gem when he'd break free? Definitely a small beast about his height, with cockle ears as big as her head, JUST putting them about the same height, the white, pure fur, brightened eyes, and the wings tha seemed to sparkle with a glisten in each movement, she seemed the entire opposite of the former seen Kusaa, who seemed definitely the more demonic almost::
::Although Gem, as he probably could guess already, angelic as she seemed, was definitely a devil in disguise...::
Payton, meet Gem... Gem... well... you're handling that...

((Okay....))
The young hare jumped in surprise to find himself face-to-face, quite suddenly, with another creature. Though initially shocked by her sudden appearance, he didn't seem terribly put-off this time by her species. He'd recalled the fox has said 'bats' plural when she had been listing off all the creatures in the abbey. He looked momentarily relieved, in fact, that this creature appeared about his age - right until he got a face-full of bat.
"Ack! Hey! Don't-" he grimaced, throwing up his arms to ward off the overly friendly bat. "Just... mrgh... get... OFF," he shouted, finally sliding out of Gem's hold and stumbling back a few paces. He threw his paw out to catch his balance on the nearby counter, missed, and fell straight to the floor.
Which sent Eula into peals of laughter. Served him right! She looked apologetically at Jude. "Sorry about the delay, he-" she started laughing again, shaking her head. "We're going now... come on everyone, we're in Jude's way."
Payton, grumbling, picked himself up off the floor, shooting Gem a glance. After all, he hadn't exactly gotten a good view of her when she was clinging to him. Well... he assumed this was a bat? She had the same shape, wings, ears. He studied her with his eyes for a few moments, a little thrown off by the bright white fur, rather than Kusaa's dark fur.
Sniffing, he walked toward Eula, ready to leave the kitchen, attempting to discreetly rub his backside. "All right, let's go - dad's probably wondering what's taking so long."
Eula, all grins, moved Payton along. "I know you two will be the best of friends. In fact, Gem," and she called over to the little bat Dibbun, "you ought to spend as much time with Payton as possible, as he won't be here very long."
"But I-" Payton was ready to complain.
"Shh, hurry up. The longer you take, the longer you wait to eat."
Payton hesitated, as if still wanting to make a point. But he looked back and saw the mousecook still waiting for them to leave. Feeling a grumble from his stomach, he gave in and left the kitchen.

::At first, Gem through her paws over her muzzle, almost horrified at Payton's fall, although a lot more scared at what he might do when he got back UP...::
::However, both her guilt and fears were extinguished when Eula quickly took the spotlight for her brother, and interrupted Gem's attempt of a quick apology with the news that positively lit her up as her wings flung open, and she leapt, and SPUN in a midair like a ballerina, before whooshing past them in a single flap, all energy and giggles::
I can show you how to fly!!!! ::She suddenly declared, passing Payton as she flew - perhaps not something she wanted to include in the lessonplan - BACKWARDS, before about turning, and bursting out as if she were launched from a catapult, with a great 'WHEEEE!!!' as only she could cry out, right up past Donato and Eula's father 'Hi, Donato!' she sounded on the way past, and away up into the rafters of the Great Hall!::
::Leaving them once more, as Faith tried to hold her own snickers back, THIS was why she loved that bat more than anything, as she gave a last nod to Jude and followed, her face faltering, just a second upon Payton, but then changing to normal, as she reminded herself a little something, and followed onward::

Jude shook his head at Gem and Payton's antics. "Eight it is, then." Again, he started making shooing motions pleasantly but gave up as they produced no effect. Oh well. Finally, the boisterous little party started making its way out and he set about making up a few trays.
"I've actually just started taking care of the Dibbuns - that is, just started doing it officially." He grinned a bit. "How're things at Salamandastron? Anything-" A little white blur whizzed past his head. "-Hi, Gem..."

((Heh, been busy lately?))
Eula mimicked Jude's motions of shooing everyone out the door back out into the Hall. She turned and gave the mousecook a quick wave and smile of appreciation. "Thanks. Sorry to be such a bother, again." And she slipped out of the doors after everyone else.
Shaftin blinked as something white went rushing past with an odd noise. He blinked and followed it with his eyes quickly, looking up to where it went up in the rafters. Realizing it was a young white bat, he shook his head a little, amused. When he looked down again, he saw Payton walking over, looking decidedly morose.
Payton made his way around the table to his father and plopped heavily into a chair, winced, readjusted himself, then set his elbows on the table, cupping his chin in his paws. Shaftin lifted an eyebrow, noticing Payton's wince. "Are you all right?"
"Fell," he replied shortly.
Shaftin's eyes wandered back up to the giggling, hyper bat in the rafters, then turned back to his son. "No matter how tempting it looks, no flying lessons."
Payton grinned a little in response.
Shaftin returned his attention to Donato. "Sorry. What did you say? You take care of 'the' Dibbuns?" he asked, confused. There was something -relief?- when Donato added the word "officially." "Oh, the- oh. Okay."
Eula came out then, taking a seat by Donato, across from Shaftin and Payton. "Well, now that we've properly invaded and looted Jude's space, he'll be out soon with some food and join us for lunch." She looked around at the others who had joined them. "I'm very popular, you see."

::UP stairs always seemed to be a bit of a trial for Faith, it was easy enough going DOWN stairs when your cane could probe ahead, it was when you had to physically PULL yourself up, with one leg that didn't want to do what you told it to that it became a little bothersome, and consequentially, she ended up pulling herself last with a quick sigh of relief::
::Although why she bothered going down when she knew that would happen anyway was either a sign of true abbess stubbornness, or pure dibbun stupidity as she quickly took her second wind and back over to them again::
Payton? ::She began, clearing her throat as her breath came back again, at least hopeful this might get his attention...:: Was I right hearing earlier that you're keen about our abbey's warriors?
::She quickly scrambled/shuffled/crawled up onto her usual chair, where Constantine had only seasons before stacked a staircase of papers for her to get into seating level on her Abbess' chair, although intended of course to try and give her a little more stature, the bumper seat didn't look very dignified actually trying to sit in it on second thought...::
::But up she was with a sigh, and her smile returning:: Would I be right guessing you'd want to spar against one at some time, if only to see yourself what it's like...?

Shooed out into the great hall with the rest of them, Terra chose not to fall back into Eula's group but to instead head out of the great hall, in hopes of finding her brother lacking about somewhere. As nice as food sounded, Ather had mentioned something about meeting him for lunch earlier that morning. Really, she only followed Eula to bug her, because wasn't that was best friends were for? She did give a small nod to Eula though, before leaving. It would be rude to just get up and walk out, Terra was taught better than that.
Just as the raccoon made her exit, Woodrow slipped past her with his usual weight of the world expression on his face. There was only so much of the infirmary the young mouse could handle, his stomach was grumbling and Jasmine had refused to feed him again. It was her way of getting him out of the wing, and Woodrow would thank her for it later. He noticed Eula immediately, and walked over toward her, giving her a gentle tug on the sleeve, "Is Jude back there, Eula? Have you seen him today?" the mouse knew Eula was friends with the cook, and wanted to see if he'd be willing to scrounge him and Constantine up something good. Jude should have been used to Woodrow's food choices for the old badger by now, he did come by every day.
