Grabbing her milk, she followed the prefects directives and sat at the table with them. Even more surprised at the Prefects display with her burger, Ky introduced herself to them all. "My name is Ky, Kyrio Loren." Unsure of what to say to them, she grabbed her milk and raised it with the prefects firewhiskey.

Leandra smiled. Hey, who said you actually had to try to make new friends? Today she was making them all over the place!
"Leandra. Malfoy," she said, finishing her slurp of cocoa and holding out her hand. "Though I'd prefer you drop the Malfoy. I'm thinking of changing it to something cooler...maybe Japanese or Spanish or something...hm... how does Leandra Velasquez sound?"

Raven smiled, a piece of mushroom in her teeth. She quickly got it out and smiled bigger. " Raven Dwindlin at your service. Though, like Leandra, I'm thinking about changing my last name...preferably to Malfoy since her brother is my boyfriend, but he can change his last name too!" she shrugged and smiled at the rest of the girls

Abigail was a little surprised at the other slytherin's. "Abigail Bathory. No name changing." She smiled and went back to eating her burger. It wasn't as easy for her as the other girls.

"Well, I don't plan on any name changes either, at least not in the near future." Looking at Leandra, Ky asked the first question that came to her head during the introductions., "Why do you plan to change your name? I thought all Malfoy's were very proud of their heritage."

Raven's eyes opened wide. She didn't think that this would be an offensive question, but she was inquisitive as to what Leandra would say...even though she already knew why.

Abigail looked up from her burger. She looked between the two girls. She had no clue how Leandra would react to the question.

Noticing the other's reactions, Ky rethought her choice, but she didn't take back her question. Leaving it to Leandra to answer or refuse if she wanted to, Ky ran her finger around the rim of her glass.

Raven kinda giggled to break the silence...not trying to make fun of the Ravenclaw girl, Ky.

Leandra lost her smile. She looked down at her cup, feeling awkward. Then she looked back, straight into Ky's eyes, her own eyes blazing with pride.
"My family's a bunch of sniveling, cowardly, evil, self-righteous, stuffy..." she spat. "Well, they're stupid. I'm different. I'm...I'm another blood traitor, and I'm proud of it." Her expression dared the other girl to challenge her.
Then after some thought, she immediately backed off, and picked up her empty cup, staring into it nervously. "I mean...I dunno...I don't get my family sometimes. Maybe they're just...but I dunno. I'd just rather not be thrown into the same category as the rest of my family."
She laughed then, hoping to break the awkwardness that she felt so strongly. She could imagine what everyone must think of her now, blabbing on and on about things she wasn't even sure of anymore, getting all uptight over simple things...
"So tell me about your family. Lorien...it sounds familiar. So do tell."

After Leandra's speech Raven clapped to try and break the tension. " Well said Leandra, old bean!" She smiled and then sat back down and waited for Ky to answer the question. she was right though, something was all too familiar...she recognized this girl.

"I think that that's your choice, I'm not going to judge you. I, well, I'm in an arranged marriage, with whom, I don't even know. I am positive I won't like him, by the fact that my parents picked him, and he is sure to be a clone of his parents by now." Ky was startled to find herself telling perfect strangers these things, but she felt as if she could trust them. Fidgeting slightly with the hem of her pale blue dress, Ky decided that if Leandra could come out about her family, so could she. "I never really liked my family, or the neighborhood we lived in. Hogwarts is barely a reprieve from the pressure of following a scale-skinned fork-tongued freak who's bent on killing a kid like 50 years younger than him. My family is sure to force this freak upon me even more this summer, making sure I'm ready by next summer." Grimacing, Ky continued, "Sometimes I'm sure things are going to be different with them, they act like a family sometimes and I wish that the times were different."

Leandra stared at the girl. Yes, that's what she had wanted to say. That was exactly what it was like. For all of them, really, wasn't it?
Feeling suddenly connected to the kids in the room, she smiled involuntarily. "Gosh, Ky, that sucks. Doesn't it just stink how--complicated people can be? One minute you love them, then next minute they act totally stupid...and the toughest thing is, you know they can't change, because they're only human."
Oh no. There she was getting all sappy again. But this time she didn't care much. It just felt so good to get all this off her chest.
"By the way, your dress is too cute," Leandra giggled, knowing it would probably sound strange coming from the girl who always dressed in alternative, punkish clothes.

Raven dropped the rest of her burger. It fell on the floor with a soggy splat, but she didn't care. Hearing about Ky's family issues made her realize that her family wasn't so bad now, but of course she didn't have a family.
