I want to fly around selling the services of myself and my mercenary team as guns-for-hire. The airship would just be another of the guns. Different paygrades means different scales of equipment. You can pay enough for us to show up in person, alone, with vehicles, or even the big bad airship if you're suitably invested.
Not in real gold or anything, just IC money and action. Conflict. Thriving off of violence, but restrained enough to adhere to contracts and uphold some sense of morality. The ability to work both sides of an argument, and not just be driven to senseless bloodshed.
Sometimes the world is hard, and soft people need to hire hard people to help them.

Starcraft is for Koreans.
I'm not Korean.
Get that outta my face.
XD
Edit:
KB: That 'merc s**t' never works out. No one ever hires anybody for anything.

Hence while it'll take a few months. I want to research the airship, appropriate proper funding for it in RP, commission it, et cetera.

Yeah, that's usually a snag. Fortunately, I'm good at creating conflict.

I guess it helps that KB is a technical genius, owns a megacorporation, and has CONNECTIONS.
Still. I feel bad being so self-sufficient. It's almost like sometimes I look at people and am like, why do I even have you around?

People never need mercenaries because their characters are retardedly rich (and rarely, if ever, with any sufficient backing reason that came through roleplaying), have dozens of peons on their bankroll, and a ton of other s**t.
No need for mercenaries. Assassins, maybe. Bounty hunters, maybe. But not a cadre of soldiers, because people can just NPC that with their limitless, completely arbitrary level of IC wealth.

Vintrict's monster ate all of Roen's wealth if that means anything, Deitric. He had to genuflect to the DeSeers for a loan.

Fiend: It's cool, man. But yea, we should definitely do that sometime. It would be a nice change of pace.

When I say mercenaries, I mean more the central characters of the flotilla. They're the one with all the abilities that would be hired to do things. I'm not the type of person who will RP the hordes of his organization just because I randomly decided I had one.
Since conflicts range in scale, it can be anything from a bar raid to a domestic dispute, or a war. When five or six people show up and there's only one PC on the other side, and the odds are horrendously against that player... well, tough luck, you should have hired yourself some mercenaries!
I think, in my opinion at least, that it's completely fair to outnumber your enemy in forces as long as you're using PCs with a legitimate reason to be there, and not just hordes of NPCs.

If it's the Era of Airships, someone's bound to be a f** and bring in a Battleship from 40K or an Imperial Star Destroyer.
I can see it now. It'd be fun to watch.

The Vansin It's going to be the Era of Airships. I can see it now. Would it be biting if I made my next entrance with an Al Bhed airship? neutral

Fun to watch isn't exactly the word I'd use. At least if they decided to crash it into my ship. But hey.
Bunch of magitech boats flying around sounds like good times for people who like battling airships. I don't know the first thing about battling airships, so I'll leave it to some Signet member who does, if it ever comes up.
And hey, anyone who needs money can always do a job or two for the VS to procure some of that IC gold they need for their shiny new spaceboat.
Except for KB, since he hates everything I represent or something.
