Henry nodded. "Aye, sad thing it twas. Such a handsome devil. Thaddeus was just finished..." he said. He yelled in the house, "Thaddeus! Come out here!" There was a whole lot of crashes and bangs before Matt appeared at the door. Henry ruffled the boy's hair. "Marcie, have you meet my new apprentice? Poor boy, blinded by the secretions of the mushrooms in the forest...Nasty business. He had no family, so I took him in. Thaddeus, this wee lass is Marcie."
Matt did his best to change his voice. "Nice meetin' ya, ma'am..." He nodded at where he had heard Marcie's voice last. He wanted to scream, "Marcie! I'm here! I'm alive! I'm sorry! I am so sorry for what I did to you!!!" but alas, it could not be. Not if he was to survive in Wonderland anymore.
((for those who don't follow...Thaddeus is Matt's new name. He's now a red head, also..But i'm going to post his actions as Matt, cause he still is matt....but everyone has to call him Thaddeus...XD))

Marcie looked at Thaddeus, he looked very familiar, too familiar... but it couldn't be, had it been the person she was there would be no need for him to fake "You look awfully familiar Thaddeus" she said grabbing him by the chin and taking a close look at him

Matt didn't look at her. He was staring off to her shoulder. "I'm sorry, Miss, but I cannot see you," he whispered. "But I have been told that I look alot like the Mad Hatter's son.....We used to play together in grade school...." The lie slipped off his tongue like ice cream. It was so easy, and yet, it was tearing him up inside. He hated to lie, especially to Marcie.
Henry nodded. "I remember that Thaddeus. I'm sorry for makin you burry him today..." He put a hand on Matt's shoulder, to comfort him. He knew that the poor lad must be going through so much right now.

Marcie frowned a little "That is such a shame" she said letting go of his face "You already buried him?" Marcie asked turning to henry, sorrow on her eyes.

Matt listened to them walk over to his grave. He sighed. Why must it always be me? he thought as he leaned in the doorway. He ran a hand through his now short hair. Thaddeus, he thought. Such a name is for someone more worthy than I. I, who lie to his family to keep them and me alive...

Marcie followed, she felt a broken, one thing was having someone tell you a loved one is death and another very different thing is standing above their grave, she couldn't stop the tears as she saw the cold stone and the freshly removed dirt, it was like part of her own self was buried with the boy "I..." she started but her voice cracked "I shouldn't have let him go" She said among tears falling to her knees and punching the floor as hard as she could, how could she forgive herself? it was the second time she had neglected Matt for her selfish reasons.

Henry knelt down by the girl. "Marcie...You act with a strength well beyond your years...." he said softly. He looked at the grave. "I know exactly what you're going through. Most people don't know this...I once had a family too. My wife and son were killed in a raid. Three years ago. I know what that pain is. I can also tell you that it does nothing for you if you spend the rest of your life thinking about 'what if's or 'what i should have done's....It's best to live your life the way that he would have wanted you to.." He ran his hand up and down Marcie's back, letting her cry.

Marcie smiled and sat down on the grave, letting the tears go out freely, after a moment she spoke again "You are a wise man, but it's too late to live as Matt would have wanted me to" she said, her voice raking with irony "Now that i confirmed his life has expired i need to ask you a question Grave digger" She said cleaning the tears that had finally stopped flowing.

Henry looked at her. "Anything, dear..." he said. He hugged her. He could feel Matt's blind eyes on his back. He felt sad for both of them now. Though Marcie was only greiving, Matt must feel as though he's betrayed everyone...he thought. The poor boy, to once be able to see and now have that taken away. Now his entire life has been stripped from him...
