See, I disagree, I think that is nitpicking, just like when they say that Pro-Abortion and Pro-Choice are different, because Pro-Abortion-ers support forced abortion.

Do I support the illegalization of abortion? Yes. So I'm Anti-Abortion. Situations where one or the other or both the mother and child would die are exceptions, rather then the rule; It stops being an abortion when it's in self defense.

Do they support abortion staying legal? Yes. So they are Pro-Abortion. There are some of them that support forced abortion, but that doesn't mean they deserve a special designation.

we need a DTR topic (difining the terms) so that this is easier, cause i can't help but thinking i'm saying banana and you're hearing pear.

let me be clear, i support the illegilization of abortion by mother's choice, but i support it as an emergency medical procedure. That's not, by the definition i know, anti abortion. Anti abortion says no abortion period, even if not getting one means the death of both mother and child.

I'm trying to say that seperating "Pro-Life" and "Anti-Abortion" is just nitpicking. I'm in the same boat as you as far as my politics go (Minus the whole zygote thing), but I don't see why we should call one single group of people Anti-Abortion, and everyone else who supports the illegalization of abortion Pro-Life.

To explain:
I believe that abortion should be illegal from the moment of conception, except in instances where there is a significant chance of death, at which time I believe it should be elective.
You believe that abortion should be illegal from the moment of implantation, except in instances where there is a significant chance of death, at which time it should be elective.
George believes that abortion should be illegal, from the moment of conception, except in instances where there is a significant chance of death, or in the case of rape or incest, at which time it should be elective.

All of those opinions fall under the heading of Pro-Life, no matter who you are.

Jimmy, who believes that abortion should be absolutely illegal, from the moment of conception, except in cases where it's an ectopic pregnancy in which case both mother and child would die anyways.

But he's Anti-Abortion instead of Pro-Life? Just because of one opinion difference, even when George is more different then Jimmy?

As I said, I believe it's nitpicking, and unnesessary singling out of certain people, and excluding them from our group, just because of one single difference.

it's a matter of perspective. I would view you as more conservative then me, and you would view me as more liberal then you. I, however, do not see myself as liberal, and from a leftist pro choicer's standpoint, we're both conservative, with one not being very much more liberal then the other.

tagging someone as pro life / pro choice works much the same way. For example, i view myself as pro life, but my girlfriend sees herself as pro choice. The difference? not much. We both have the same concept of where life begins and agree with that. Hell we agree with about 90% of eachother's arguments, much like me and you, the major difference is she's Australian, and i'm American, and in Australia, abortion is illegal, including pills that prevent a zygote from attaching itself to the uterine wall. Since she's in an environment that views that as murder, she's a more liberal 'pro choice' and i'm pro life. Were she to move over here, she would be considered pro life, because the law says that life begins in the 3rd trimester.

so yes, in all reality, since tags like that are relative, they are rather silly, but we need shortcuts and ways to simplify our views so they can be understood quickly. I couldn't very well take the time to explain every detail of my stance at the start of every debate i had in the EO topic, it's much simpler to say i'm pro-life and move from there. Basicly, they are a silly, but necessary thing, and i think sometimes getting a better definition of them is a good thing.

There actually was a discussion on the morning after pill. I thought it'd been moved to the ED but apparently, it's still in the main forums. And will take forever to find gonk

Back when I was new here and reviving old posts, I only had two pages worth of posts to go through.

Well, thanks! Except for my knee that I bruised at the fair... and while people are in a talking mood...

Does this site look real, to anyone? Someone made a thread about it in the GD, I'm hoping it's just a huge joke, like the Bonsai Kitties...

Oh my goodness.

Letter from Cindi

My friend is 10 and she has a boy friend who is 17. He is way cool and really likes her alot. He tries to touch her down there and once he did and she said it felt nice and wants him to do it again. Should she say she wants him to?

Cindi

Lindsay’s response:

Hi Cindi,

Your friend needs to be very careful about what she does. I do not know what state she lives in, but in many states, her boyfriend could get into real trouble if anybody found out he was touching her like that. In most places, because she is only ten, it is illegal for anybody to touch her there, even if the other person is also a minor. The result could be that her boyfriend could be charged as a youth sex offender and even required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. Your friend needs to find out what the law where she lives says about sexual contact between minors. If she does not know, then it is safer if she does not let her boyfriend touch her like that.

It is too bad that your friend enjoys that kind of touching but has to worry about her boyfriend getting in trouble. Unfortunately that is the way that the law is in much of America.

All the best,

Lindsay

(Reads the letter lymelady posted...) Oh, gross. gonk

It's more disgusting because they talk to them like they're small kids, and use nice colors, but expect them to feel love like adults... it makes my kind of want to gag a little bit...
