With a cap, it isn't needed in terms of being a part of the Mainstream.

This is a concept that, imo, will police itself. The community will eventually even out over time in terms as to what's more or less allowable. Enough threads will have similar caps that it largely becomes the unspoken "norm." That's how all communities are. They eventually draw their own line of their own accord, all in due time.

There's no reason to do it arbitrarily at the beginning and potentially kill the project, when such a thing happens naturally over time as everything begins to fit together.

At least someone understands. It's hard enough for Judges not to form personal bias, and it isn't made easier if they take a side in an argument about the fight in the OOC thread. While I know and some other people know to take Haelstrom posts with a grain of salt, there are people out there dumb enough to assume its a wholly accurate play by play.

Really, if those fights had had more of a judge influence then... I think they would have continued without incident.

I'm for the mainstream stuff. I've been acting like it was in place for years anyways.

I know right? Though if people are going to do something to make it more formal, I figure I should go along with it.

Well, if this umbrella effect is really going to be put into play, what can those of us not piloting it, such as myself, do to help the process along?

Is there going to be some sort of banner or advertisement to let people know what's going on, and what (I guess) we're trying to achieve?

I know it's a brand new idea/project, but how far in its depths have you pilot-people waded thus far?

That's how I've been, more or less. Arc's Hard Mode was a good attempt at putting together a cohesive world, but it was still a bit too closed I think.

Closed, in terms of long term RP = not working on Gaia. Guilds stagnate. Closed RP threads that are meant to be freeform stagnate and die. It has to be as relatively "freeform" as possible to allow people to build on the idea themselves.

EDIT:: I have no idea what anyone else is doing. I opted to create a mule for the threads and to take in PMs, and I'm busy writing stuff up for it, since I sort of nominated myself and no one freaked out over it. I'm going to start the actual charter outline.. here after I take a quick nap.

It'll get posted so people can discuss it whenever I finish it, since it's not something that can get implemented without some input from various groups and sources, and although I'm writing it out, it's not really solely my work, so other people who have contributed need to look it over.

Aren't you supposed to PUT YA GUNS ON?

ARE YOU READY GUYS?!!!

(YEAAAAHHHH)

PUT YO GUNS ON!! (Put ya guns on in the original game's Date opening.)

(YEAAAAHHHHHH)

Then if I remember right, in the game he said "Good. Now, let's conquer like wild! HYAT." [Unsheaths swords and rides off a mountain.]

In the anime, "Got it?! Let's have a wild night of a good time! The party's starting!! HERE WE GO!!"

And simply rode his horse, rather than making it jump off a mountain.

To be fair, 1/2 of the thread pretty much does boil down what they did play by play. It's the other half that's hyperbole, me slamming my keyboard, and walking away to play video games.

Have you by chance read the thread in its entirety? Not mine, their fight?

Agreed. I liked hard mode a lot, and I wish it took off more, but unfortunately when you deliberately separate yourself from the rest of the roleplay community in order to institute more stable rules, it makes it less likely to get new people to join and keep things fresh with a lack of outside sources of intrigue.

The idea is an idea that has been passed around since Vansin's Gaian Renaissance campaign if not longer. But this particular idea to unify certain threads might actual work. Forge alliances and bonds with the strongest threads, guilds, and events around right now. For example, the Black Sand, Leviathan, GTB, HoH, and any other that are currently popular (not sure who all has fallen out of favor now-a-days) and have them start working more closely together, with people going from one place to another.

Who knows, it's a wild idea, but with some work from community leaders it could work. But you have to convince them first, before you can convince the community. *Shrugs*
