Chen Ning Just Naota Vintrict Just Naota Vin! You're bringing the oldschool GPD back? Yep. Someone needs to stop VS. It feels like Cleric Pei's character and mine were kicking down doors just yesterday. sad You can relive the experience by joining the GPD. Won't be the same without mah friends and Rectum. Yeah, I need Rectum. Mostly him. Though, after reading the thread, why does your PD have Genesis equipment? They were a seperate entity.

themightyjello Michael Noire Quote: You're going to lose because you refuse to play towards what the judges want to see TMJ - this actually was my opening thesis. I got to learn a lot in this tournament. For example, the inertial frame counter attack is too complicated for Free form, even if you explain it from a third person perspective. Then all that's left is for me to ask if you have a learning disability. Because from what I've seen... and I say this specifically because I did not read your fight but I read the posts in the judge thread and the complaints posted in here... you're not adapting at all. Movement A is "too complicated to explain well" so this means that there are 3 options: 1) everyone except you is retarded, 2) you can't explain it well, or 3) it is an inherently bad-sounding statement to make. Considering that 1 is not true simply because if you're just too smart to explain it well to stupid people there would have to be at least one person in all of this who agrees with your point and it doesn't seem that there is... and considering that 3 is not true because you claim to be using Aikido movements that you've done several times yourself (and I can likely guarantee that you are in nowhere near as good shape as your RPC)... then the answer has to be 2. Has to be. Now where is the problem with this? It lies in the fact that you are using complicated actions in your post that you are not explaining well enough to actually make it sound like it would work. Obviously, the two best ways to handle this situation would be to either explain it better or to use less complex maneuvers. After all, doesn't almost every form of martial arts teach that the wasted movements are unnecessary and the smallest, straightest technique is usually the most perfected? No. Instead you chose option 3: to complain that no one understands what you're writing and that everyone hates you. I don't want to. Stop trying to make me. I like Aikido. I really do. But it's one of the (visually) most unrealistic forms of martial arts because it involves movements where a man is thrown dramatically to one side from a twist of the hand. Why? Because Aikido in practice (not to be read as in-practice) is PRO WRESTLING. You sell the hit because you don't want to injure yourself. The first thing you learn in Aikido is how to take a fall. That's because when you're sparring and practicing moves on each other if you actually fight the pressure being applied you could seriously injure yourself by wrenching your wrist or elbow or shoulder in a bad direction. Every demonstration video of Aikido I've ever seen involves the 'victims' of techniques jumping or falling into the throw and then rolling away in an instant to reset. You don't see them trying to hold their stance and NOT get thrown by it because applying force against force causes strain which causes damage. Aikido looks fake because Aikido is the pro wrestling of martial arts. Your opponent was Collossus from the X-Men, large and with metal skin. I doubt she was going to leap into your arm-twist throw. So accept that and choose another path. I know of what you speak, however aikido's biggest weak point is the mobility of the opponent's wrist. Basically, some of the techniques are 10 times easier if the other person simply stops 'jabbing' for example, much like jujitsu. By resting your hand on someone's shoulder or neck, this obstacle is completely gone, and a wide variety of techniques can be applied. A lot of aikido techniques don't involve throws, but are submission holds. Some work well against weak and flexible opponents, but others, like Nikyo, work amazingly well against very strong opponents. There's a lot of discussion about my opponent being "metal" and super strong, but there's not much description of Noire's grip strength, and even mentioning what style it resembles just leads to an argument about it being over powered. So basically, i'm in a strange tight rope. While there's material in my profile that allows me to succeed at what i'm attempting to do, if it's acknowledged, I can get disqualified for being too powerful. This leaves me in a terrible limbo, where I have to ask how the judges are going to interpret my profile, like Gypsies with a Tarot deck. But you really have to ask, does it make sense that a character should be disqualified if the only way they can succeed at what they are trying to do is to have X? In general, the judges have gone with "Noire doesn't have/can't use X". In every case, this has led to my opponent's advantage. Noire's not fast enough to make that somersault work, otherwise he's disqualified Noire's not tough enough to take that blow to the groin, otherwise he's disqualified Noire's attacks aren't devastating enough to inflict that kind of damage, otherwise he's disqualified What the ******** people?

I don't get to sleep long enough to qualify it as anything more than a nap. Some may call it insomnia. I just call it bothersome.

Good question. I kept it as "Exceptional equipment." It's equipment only used when there's like an extreme case of emergency. For example, going against stuff not of the norm, and a lot of stuff is considered normal in Gaia. I suppose if a demon from the eight circle of hell suddenly came, we would definitely use stuff like the Temporal equipment.

I liked how Kenji's fight started off but then it got confusing and wonky with the swords and what I'm guessing are NPCs.

The GPD toting Kargin's inventions would be hella ironic. Or Edymion's crap. I'm sure all of Edy's ideas were printed out and taken out into the forest to be burned in a campfire.

Michael Noire A lot of aikido techniques don't involve throws, but are submission holds. Some work well against weak and flexible opponents, but others, like Nikyo, work amazingly well against very strong opponents. A quick aside to that statement though: As effective as submission holds are IRL they don't tend to carry the same weight in roleplay for a number of reasons, including "these people are getting involved in fights with lethal weapons and are at risk for serious injury or death, they won't be so concerned with a broken or sprained joint if they can get out and wail on you again", "grapple works out well against an unarmed opponent but is weak against powers and knives", and of course the "we're a bit sick of reading the tired back and forth of 'I have you' 'no you don't' 'yes I do' 'okay you do' 'I submission you' 'no you don't' 'yes I do' 'no you don't, I throw you off', etc.". Plus a lot of holds/submissions don't work so well when the person in question could lift you off the ground with one arm and throw you around, or break your holding arm if they got their hands on it. Noire So basically, i'm in a strange tight rope. Yet again, this comes back to point number 2. You were not clear enough in your profile. You did not explain yourself well. Tournament entrance bios should always be listed with clear, concise entries for powers. Hell, I prefer bullet-points or list style entries when I go through tournament bios because it breaks things down cleanly into categories, special moves, and stat bonuses that aren't hidden somewhere in a block of flavor text. Hell, that's why we put a rule in HoH that specifically says 'if we feel you are trying to hide a power in the block text of your profile it is considered forfeit and not allowed for use'. Clear entries. GTB this year has already admitted to dropping the ball on that. Noire But you really have to ask, does it make sense that a character should be disqualified if the only way they can succeed at what they are trying to do is to have X? What sense does it make that the character is attempting something where the only way they can succeed is to have an ability that they don't possess? DO SOMETHING ELSE. Noire What the ******** people? I don't know how many times I'm gonna have to say it... In free form you adapt to the people around you. They do not adapt to you unless you manage to make a good enough impression for long enough that they want to be like you. This is not the case.
