Lady Blodwynn Caleidah Lady Blodwynn There might be a plastic Thunderhawk on the horizon at long last, possible release window is around the same time as Planet Strike. ninja
Lordy, yes. The flying Baneblade. As to the possibility of that, I'd say it's pretty high. The model is incredible and there are a lot of people in my area that have said they'd pick up the model if not for the Forgeworld cost.
Brock, don't derail the thread. There have been shots of the plastic sprues before on places like Bell of the Lost Souls and Warseer but GW had them pulled. And they definitely wouldn't have a model of that scale canceled due to a few photos, it's just too expensive.

They just want to keep it under wraps until the time is right to unveil it properly.

'scuse me all... I have a conundrum. As I said in my introduction, I am currently building a space marine army...but i don't know who gets what. Mind you, I'm working on getting my codices, but I generally know what weapons are used for what. But I don't have battlefield experience to pull from to decide a 'balanced' build. so, I will now list the marines I will have, a short description, then the equipment I have available. All of these are currentl bags-n-bitz. 1 Marine commander- Planned chapter master conversion, or the like. Possibly librarian/chaplain, and conversion bits for making a 'Custode death stick' Will be available. 1 Command squad, 5 marines- 1 apothecary, 1 champion, and 1 champion bits available. 1 devastator squad of 10- 1 sergeant with targeter backpack, 2 lascannons, 2 plasma cannons, 2 heavy-bolters, 1 rocketier, and one multi-melta. 1 tactical squad of 10- 2 sergeant upgrades. 3 rhinos- 1 vindicator sprue available, along with 3 storm bolter add-ons. 1 dark angels bike/rhino/speeder accessory conversion sprue. Equipment: 3 left powerfists, 4 powerswords, 1 left powerclaws, around 5-8: meltas, flamers, and plasma rifles, 6-8 plasma pistols both left and right, around 6-8 sets of bolt pistol+ chainsword, 6-8 lone bolt pistols, around 2-3 master crafter bolters, 1 storm bolter, 1 combi-melta, 1 combi-plasma, 4 servo-skulls, 2 with iron halos, a few auspexes, a few belt pistols, 4-7 melta bombs, 4-5 pack-banners, 1 iron halo, 3-5 pack-icons, several bionic heads, some cruxes and crux iconed shoulders, and enough knives, krak grenades, bolter rifles, Purity seals, and packs to throw some around for everyone to enjoy!
So, I'd like to humbly ask for your assistance. Rather like it if all squads could handle both Close combat and ranged, however if sacrifices be made for sense and rules, then emperor will it! Also note that my chapter will be a DoItYo'self (duh), and that I will either pull from imperial fists, dark angels, black templars, or parts of all! Thank you for your attention! Wall of text!

Well, if youre gonna do it by the Ultramarine book (which includes imperial fists)m command squad forces you to have captain, so no librarian/chaplain (unless you want 2 HQ from the start) Black Templars OTOH force you into Emp.champion, and no librarians at all. You need a lot of basic bolter marines more with Ultra codex because "Thou shall not have cool weapons unless 10 man strong" rule" And Vindicator as first heavy support is great start considering improved large blast rules. You can convert 5-man Sternguard unit using mc bolters and combi weapons. Thats enough from rapid fire response. For more advice barrage bribes are welcome razz

So what your saying is, is that I need to wait for codex really... And I was hoping I could get away with the extra flamers and plasmas too.. Ah well! back to the de-moldline board for me. Unless..you define..."barrage bribe" twisted trying to avoid the Ultras as much as possible..bad rep and all, I would rather not associate with them. heck, if I had it my way I'd take my codices, then write my own personal chapter codex, making sure to underpower them as much as is possible. be annoying to play, but interesting... mainly, I just don't want to have assembled, painted, and built my army, walked into the store, and had six people scream at me YOUR ILLEGAL GET OUT NOOB. talk2hand

The Space Marine codex might be centred around the Ultras but it allows you to create your own chapter in whatever way you want to. Best of all your commanders can define the look of the army, plus any named character can easily be used for your own army, just change his name and keep the rest.

Both armies have its drawbacks and bonuses. BT with "preferred enemy" and lots of ccw+bp tacticals are actually one of scariests melee armies. DA have cool extra rules for bikes and termies (scouting normal bikes, first turn charge aganst IG/Tau anyone? Fearless termies are nice too)

Hmm....I had heard that it helps to "write your own codex' as in "keep all of these lego-style rules for my DIY chapter in one place or note." But I will take your information to heart, and I thank you for it.

Very childish. But fearless termies? Chainsword and Bolt pistol tacticals? do tell, do tell... twisted

Special characters can be renamed and used on a basis of "count as", and there are quite a few good ones for chapters other than ultras e.g Imperial/crimson Fists, Salamanders, White Scars, Raven Guard . As for the bonuses of BT/DA specific units, read relevant codexes, I cant post them here you know...

Alright... ninja Looking at what I got and what I want to do.... I want to put an apothecary in an honor guard squad. However, I see nothing for OR against it in the codex. Does this mean a NO or a no, just rule it as another trooper? Or even yes, do it and no one will care? Highly Unlikely, wot? If not, I could change my commander from master to captain and just use a command company, but I'd rather not do that if I had the choice... sweatdrop gah, I keep peppering you all with questions and contributing nothing myself! redface
