((Another sort of "out of the main time line" thing to bide time while I wait for more people to get on.))
The forest was quiet again. The sweet melodies of the birds blessed the tranquil forest with peaceful music. Leaves and grass danced together in harmonious union formed by the breath of the heavens. Natures beauty, was it just an illusion to distract one from the truth?
Only if one allowed themselves to be distracted. When one could see past the illusion, and illuminate truth in nature by means of the unfettered mind, that was when real beauty emerged not from a single aspect of nature, but from all of nature in its entirety.
If distracted by a single leaf, one will not see the entire tree. Distracted by a tree, one will not see the entire forest. To see everything in its entirety, effortlessly, that is what it means to "see".
Kenjirou was next to the sparkling lake, these thoughts running through his mind but not abiding there. He was here to strengthen his body and further discipline his soul. To be effective, his body had to be strong as well. His mind could not be his only weapon.
Kenjirou was wearing his normal attire,e though he had taken off his Haori and laid it on a nearby rock. He had done the same with his arm bracer's. His keiko gi top, was shrugged off from his shoulders and laying around his waist, leaving Kenjirou bare chested. His sword lay next to him, never to far away.
Despite his high position in society, Kenjirou was very poor. He could not afford weights. So instead,
He had found a rock the size of a large cannon ball. Needless to say, it was quite heavy. Kenjirou began by laying on his back, holding the rock over his head, and doing crunches. But moving the rock in the direction he sat up, adding extra difficulty to his task...

"Sanju ichi, Sanju ni..."
Kenjirou was also sitting up to the left and right, as well as to the center. To work as many abdominal muscles as possible. It was not long before he began to feel the stressing burn of his muscles being worked. Like fire working through each strand of muscle in his stomach. Kenjirou did not think about it. He did not ignore nor deny the burn, but instead simply let it be. Not focusing on it, not devoting more stress to it. It burned yes, but not quite as badly as it would were he to devote all of his attention to over coming his weakness.
"Hachi ju san, Hachi ju shi..."
Kenjirou did not allow himself to stop. He simply kept going. At about one hundred and ninety nine, sweat trickled down his forehead. His well toned body glistened in the forest sunlight, perspiration reflecting the warm light.
At about one thousand, Kenjirou finally allowed himself to stop. He put the rock over his head, letting out several long sighs. He lay for a moment, staring out into the sky, but not for long. The longer he hesitated, the harder it would be to work.
Kenjirou rolled over, placing his hands on the rock, and began to do his push ups...

Kenjirou was never very good at push ups. In fact, when he was an out of shape little boy, he would often fall flat on his face after his arms gave out. There was also, of course, the fact his father would often be there. Hitting him and stomping on him while he worked.
In a way, Kenjirou's suffering had only served to make him stronger. His child hood and adolescence had been intolerable hells for him. He had shed tears every night before he slept. The screams of his mother being abused always haunted him. Perhaps that is why he focused himself so heavily on martial arts. To try to become stronger, to be better, to over come and understand what he was going through.
Kenjirou remembered when he used to be obsessed about "strength" and "weakness". It was a time when he did not know that courage inevitably turned to fear, and fear inevitably to courage. That cycle, staying stuck within it...saying he was invincible one moment then beating himself up the other, that was not real strength. Those were common thoughts.
He did not really think of "strength" or "weakness" now. Only doing his duty, and the objectively right thing. Ridding oneself of common thoughts, such as virtue and cowardice. Or Strength and weakness. While these thoughts could never be truly eliminated from the mind and body,
He had taken one step closer to real truth through his striving. For Kenjirou there was no strength and weakness. Only emptiness. And from that emptiness, is where real good manifested itself. Pure, simple, truth.
Kenjirou was on his three hundredth push up now, but would not cease till his arms gave way at last at six hundred push ups. He slowly took his arms from the rock, letting out several more long breaths.
Again, he did not wait long to move on.

Now, for the legs. Kenjirou stood, his arms feeling much similar to jelly. His stomach felt like it had acid poured on it. But he did not mind such things. He reached down, picked up the rock, and lifted it above his head.
Kenjirou performed squats, lowering the rock with his legs and lifting it above his head as he rose up again. Kenjirou felt that one should balance out their strengths in the body, and he needed to work on his legs more. His legs were probably the weakest part of his body.
In his youth, he had focused on a single thing: Defeating his father. All of his hatred and all of his anger had been focused on that one thing alone. So much, that he had neglected his mothers love. He cared for his mother, but in his malice, the pain inside of him became everything. He felt he was doing it to defeat his father, but he was only becoming a servant to his suffering. He believed he was doing the honorable and right thing by killing his father, when he only brought destruction and shame upon his house. Honor and bravery were simply foolish when they blinded one from the effective path.
If ones honor compromised their chances at victory it is foolish. If ones courage only brings about havoc and destruction upon others, it is stupidity. Though one cannot be without fault. There is not a day when one does not make a mistake. This is not an excuse to be as weak as one wants, but if one makes effort to do things in the right of mind, even their mistakes can be with benefit. For one can truly learn, then. And should the right descion be made in the right of mind, then good shall come of it.
It is impossible to eliminate desire from the body, the body IS desire. But if one can find that purer virtue within all of us, then even the act of murder can be made in the right of mind.
Kenjirou finally stopped at 300 squats, lowering the rock and wondering what to do next...

Kenjirou, having worked his muscles, felt now it was time for some cardio. He barely had an ounce of fat on his body, but that was no reason not to try and burn what was there off.
Kenjirou started by simply doing some shadow boxing. The point was to more get his body moving and active, rather than to focus on technique. While that was part of it too, it was more to get himself sweating.
Kenjirou punched in the air, kicked, jumped, yelled, kneed, jabbed, hooked, tackled, every thing that came to mind to do in a fist fight. Soon, as Kenjirou wished, perspiration and fatigue began to torture his body. But he didn't stop...
A long time ago, Kenjirou would have imagined an opponent before him. He did now to, but not in the same way. He didn't focus all of his attention on one sole thing, instead, his vision took everything in. Effortlessly. He saw everything, including the "opponent" before him. His mind did not focus on anything, but was not mindless either.
After an hour of non stop cardio, Kenjirou finally tired. He placed his hands on top of his head, taking in deep breaths and letting them out slowly. Catching his breath, and contemplating what to do next...

It was now time, Kenjirou decided, for some more strength training. He grabbed his things, but stayed topless. He approached a nearby tree, placing all of his belongings under it. Looking up at the tree with his arms crossed, Kenjirou gaged how difficult it would be to climb up the trunk. He would use no Chakra what so over, only his muscles.
He nodded, setting his goal for the lowest branches. That should be challenge enough to climb.
Kenjirou sprang at the tree with a nimble leap, wrapping his arms and legs around the trunk before crawling as well as he could up the rough trunk. While it didn't take him long, there was also the issue of getting back down.
So he came down as well, then went up the tree again. But farther. Then down, then up again but even farther than the last time.
Kenjirou repeated this process till he had gotten to the very top of the tree, then back down again. After brushing the bark off of himself, he contemplated what to do next...

Kenjirou figured out what to do next. He gathered his things once more, and returned the large rock he had been using before. After neatly setting his things down, he approached the stone and picked it up. Some improvisational weight training, Kenjirou had decided.
Kenjirou started by lifting the rock over his head, up and down, at different angles. Then, he pushed the rock in front of him, and back. In front of him, and back. Then to the sides, and all around...
Eventually, that rock was not heavy enough. So he got a bigger, heavier stone from the side of the lake. Using that for a weight instead. After doing that for awhile,
he used both rocks.
Kenjirou continued to perform this weight lifting work out for about an hour, till at last he needed a break again.

Kenjirou figured out what to do next quickly. He gathered his things, and returned to the tree he had been climbing earlier. Setting his things down, he searched, and eventually found a sturdy stick. He refused to disrespect his katana by using it for this step of the work out. So instead, he used the firm stick,
And proceeded to raise it above his head and strike the tree.
"YAHH!!"
He let out a kiai with each hit, taking time to make sure each and every hit was perfect. Without letting it distract him, though. It woulden't be to long before his palms began to bleed, despite all of the callouses his skin had endured. Regardless, he continued.
Fortunately, the stick never broke. He had been sure to find a stick that would not break under the amount of pressure he was putting it under. He continued to do this, for another hour. Kenjirou was very, very tired at this point but was not satisfied. He would continue to work, till he could work no more.

Kenjirou was starting to run as short on ideas as he was short on energy. He was sitting by the lake at this point, taking a few small sips of the cool clean water. Or at least he hoped it was clean. His hands returned to the placid lake, to bring out another handful of water to pour over is head. Not enough to soak him, but just enough to cool him down.
However, he did not let himself cool down too much. If he rested for to long, it would only be all the harder to continue his work out. Kenjirou approached the tree again, with a new plan in mind. He found the lowest branch he could reach with his hands, and pulled himself up.
Kenjirou set a goal for himself, of 200 pull ups, engraving it into his mind that he would not stop until he reached that number. His arms felt like they would give way at any moment, yet he didn't cease. If he gave up at the hardest point in a battle, he would surely be cut down.
Eventually, he dropped from the tree, exhausted, though still thinking of what to do next...

Kenjirou felt he did not have much strength left in his arms. But it did not take long for him to figure out what to do next.
Using the same branch as he had before, Kenjirou nimbly leapt up onto the branch, curling his legs around it. The end result being, Kenjirou hanging from the tree upside down. He crossed his arms over his chest, then began to perform upside down crunches.
This was by far one of the most excruciating forms of exercise Kenjirou could perform, after about 50 he felt as if he were about to hurl. He was already drenched with sweat from all of his previous exercises.
Kenjirou lowered himself from the tree at last, after at least 100 of these painful crunches. The obvious question now,
was what next?

Now, for the last parts of his work out.
Endurance training.
Kenjirou stood beneath the tree again, and readied his fists. Letting out a harrowing yell, Kenjirou proceeded to unleash his bare fisted fury upon the tree in front of him. His knuckles and feet had endured years and years of this kind of training. That, and living in a cave had gotten him accustomed to painful hits to his feet and fingers.
Kenjirou started to sweat again, part of this exercise was being able to give it his all while enduring the pain. And of course, to work his muscles.
Eventually, Kenjirou decided it would be better to conserve his energy for the final part of his work out...

It was time to cool off. Kenjirou grabbed his sword, put it at his side, and went through all of the katas he had gone through last time, 10 times each. Slowly though, as to let his tired body relax itself. It was only after a work out like this did Kenjirou feel a deep content. He was exhausted, but he felt good, too. Not joyous, just peaceful.
He was done now. He gathered up his clothing, put his keiko gi back over his shoulders, sliped on his Haori and made sure his hand was on his sword. Kenjirou left the forest, intending to return home and have a bath, then a nap.

Kanti having left Kyo and the others behind he took a long breath and let out a sigh of relief. He was getting tired of all the sparks going around from Kenjirou and Kyo as well as Kyo and Cerbi.
Rolling his neck lightly he cracked it several times. He hadn't been in Kyo's form in a long time so it was something he had to get used to again. Not only did he have to get used to maintaining the form, he needed to get back into his longrange combat training, he'd not been in a fight with Kyo for a long time so he felt like he was getting rusty, if he wasn't already.
Sighing lightly he slowly set his hands in each pouch on his back, slowly retrieving his hands from said pouches he pulled out numerous shuriken between his fingers, crouching down to one knee he folded his arms across his chest and hung his head lightly focusing his thoughts. As he felt prepared he quickly stood up and threw his arms out throwing shuriken out in every direction. As they spun out around the trees they slowly arced back towards a central point, some more than others scrapping or sticking into trees outside of the one he was aiming at. Sighing lightly he rubbed his temple.
"Damn I'm rusty...."

Kanti sighed lightly, reaching into the back pouches once again he pulled more shuriken from them, as he got them out he leapt back and began to throw the shuriken one by one from his fingers aiming at the one point in the tree he had focused on from before. After letting fly one group from his hand he set his feet on a tree as he spun his body and flung the last of the shuriken out. All the way less struck outside targets but he was still far from getting the hang of long range for having not used it in so long.

After about half an hour of walking, Kenjirou brought the three of them to the side of the crystalline lake. Sunlight twinkled on the clear surface of the lake, and today, there was not even a slight breeze to chill water soaked skin. Warmth washed over them, the enmity of the sun was replaced today by a relaxing heat. It was a perfect day to swim.
Kenjirou approached a large rock directly at the waters edge, taking his sword from his side and laying next to him as he sat cross legged on the rock.
"Here we are."
He had no intention of swimming himself, not being dressed for it.
