Andarien pouted. "I want bread," he said to himself as he clambered to his feet. He reached one hand up to Miyuki. He liked to hold her hand when he was walking with her, because she walked faster than him and he didn't like to be left behind. And it made him feel safer.

"Don't let Senka have too much, either," Earendil added as a precaution. "It's not good for her."

He knew that Miyuki knew this already, but Senka was a suck, and she did like to try to persuade anyone who would listen to give her more food than was good for her.

Andarien trotted alongside his sister contentedly, though he was hoping inside that she wouldn't make him get meat with his breakfast. Nana and Ada would make him have some with either lunch or dinner, or both - he didn't need it for breakfast too!

When they entered the dining room, he spotted some of the others from their party, and he pointed them out to Miyuki eagerly.

"There! Lessa and Ethos!" he said excitedly, pointing at Alassëa and Aethos, whose names (like most others) he couldn't yet pronounce correctly.

Andarien nodded. "We're gonna look for Lessa's ada today, right?" he asked, looking up at Miyuki. "Because she didn't see her ada in a long time, right?"

He was still a little fuzzy on the histories of their traveling companions, but he had an idea of Alassëa looking for her father here in the village. He understood at least that she hadn't seen him in a long time, though he really didn't understand what blindness was, and hadn't yet been told about the kidnapping or anything that had come after that.

Andarien looked up at Miyuki. "Meet?" he asked, confused. "Don't they know each other?"

As they approached the table, Aethos spotted them and waved to them, smiling warmly.

"Oh ..." Andarien waved back at Aethos, but his expression was thoughtful. "That's sad."

"What's sad?" Aethos asked curiously as the children reached him and Alassëa. He helped Andarien up onto the bench, as the boy was too small to climb up himself.

Andarien looked up at Aethos. "It's sad that Alassëa didn't see her ada in such a long time," he informed him as if Aethos hadn't already known the fact.

"Ah," Aethos smiled. "Yes, with you just growing and all, I suppose you haven't heard the story yet, have you?"

"Story?" Andarien looked up at Aethos, his eyes wide. Though his words were simple, his tone was clear: he wanted to hear the details finally!

But before anyone could begin the story, a young man stepped up to their table. "Can I get you anything?" he asked, looking at Miyuki.

Andarien tugged on Miyuki's sleeve. "Bread," he reminded her. He hadn't yet had the chance to have any of the things she had listed, so he didn't know what any of them were; but she hadn't said the one thing that he wanted.

The waiter looked down at Andarien, then back at Miyuki. "Bread instead of toast for him, then?" he asked her.

"Mi, can I have mead?" Andarien asked her, interrupting the waiter.
