Old Man KB I don't hold it against newbies that don't get it. We all considered or attempted unifying standards of Gaia at least once, and tasted bitter defeat. XD It's all these oldbies and literate people/non-morons that we want to play with, and it's those people that, for some reason, can't seem to make unification happen. Why? What's so hard about agreeing to play in one place? I don't understand.

Old Man KB The people who get it, get it. The ones that don't, don't. That's probably never going to change. "getting it" depends on who you ask. Neil Gaiman deities aren't going to interact with AD&D deities in the same way, and even White Wolf deities might have more in common with the former than the latter, even though they compete statistically with AD&D. Basically, there's different levels of involvement. A philosophy character doesn't work the same way as a street fighter character, nor does a fantasy knight function the same way as as a space opera type with their own battle fleet. For street fighter types, combat is about life bars, KOs, and 60 seconds or less. For the philosopher character, it's a lifetime in the making and may question the meaning of being alive. For the knight, KO doesn't exist and "evening the odds" only applies when chivalry is at stake, otherwise it's kill as many as you can. For the Space opera, the whole army the knight wants to defeat can be incinerated from above, but he would probably get his a** kicked by the guy from street fighter, if he would only come down from his orbital planet destroyer.

Liquid Lights Yeah, Van, woohoo. It's totally a good thing to let people know if your thread is mainstream. Now throw a link up for it so all the other mainstream thread owners can put a link to it in their mainstream thread. That's the point. S'actually not a thread, it's a guild. But it's just a guild that is supposed to function as my evil group's flying ship/home. It's a play by appointment sort of thing. People aren't supposed to be able to just get on. If you want to try, you can PM me or Elli and we'll set up a cool funtime plot with you though. Link is THIS

Rhoslyn Vernal It won't be THAT bad, just a few simple sections.
1. The definition of Mainstream.
2. A list and short description of all participating threads.
3. A list of "known" organizations.
4. A list of "known" people.
5. All the other s**t people like me and Elli would love to complie and read. I think this would be a great banner to which threads could fall under. I mean if anything it links stuff together and give people intrested a referance of some things they can help make small talk about. I would suggest have a section with a breif summary of key events that have happened, such as Frostchild, GTB, HoH, ect.

A timeline? That's... yeah, I'm not going to even pretend I'm willing to do that. It's a cool idea but I am far, far too lazy to hold that end up.

Honestly, I feel like.. adding a list of known people just makes it a popularity contest. sweatdrop I don't want to make this about the characters..
because by linking to a list of "Known mainstream characters", it implies that whoever has the most buddies and has drawn the most attention to themselves are the ones everyone should know about/read up on. Do not like.
If your character is truly known then new people coming into this "mainstream" bit will become acquainted with them eventually, you know? Four months ago I was like "Vansin/James/KB/etc who?" but in time, trust me, your reputations will be spread without having to aid it along.

Amigone Labs .Inc I would like to see what most define as known in gaia. Deitric is known, KB is known, Ross is known, Sey is known. Etc, etc.
If we mention a name, and enough people go "I think I know who that guy is, from " that's known.
EDIT: Well, I think it makes sense for the people who get the most media attention and networking IC are the ones most Gaians would have heard of, but maybe that's just me.

Bookmarked.
And while I would have liked to stumble upon it- it is an airship, so that won't be happening.
BUT JUST IMAGINE. In a unified world, that ship could be at a spot on the world map. People could see it up there.
Instead, there could be some raging nightmare battle outside some blood bar with a giant monster in the commerce, 3,000 feet below your airship, that might as well not exist.
Pardon my idealism, but I see immersion. I see environment. I see UNITY.
