That's a powerful archetype when played right.
Especially in contemporary media we have seen it played a lot. Maybe it's just an expression of our generations kinda "counter retro" values. Know what I mean?

Some day I think I should play a "damsel in distress". It would be an interesting role reversal for me. A lot of people play the foil to the "damsel in distress" but few really play a well defined "damsel in distress" character quite well. I don't think I've ever seen it actually now that I think about it.
Though ironically... Inochi might fill that role.
Vicarious existence (check)
Shuns the spot light (check)
Allows others to do things for him (check... kinda)
Annoying useless commentary (check)
