Ianator So guys, when (not if, when) I start an Imperial Guard army, I'm going to fit as many Missile and Grenade Launchers as I possibly can. Is this awesome? [ /]Yes [ ]No [ ] WAAAGH!well only if you got enough room to fire them... once the enemy closes i dont think you want FF causalties. but other than that those weapons rip up nid armies like no tommarow xd

It's incredibly cheesy, and while you do have chance for high damage output having immobile guard squadrons is just asking for it IMO.

Well, any artillery would rip them up anyways. Also, I'm not entirely sure it's that cheesy, considering there's weapons that do both anti-tank (lascannons) and anti-infantry (mortars and heavy bolters) better . I just like the idea of being able to switch between two types of attack at most any point.

I just find maxing out on one or two particular kinds of weapons to break fluff principles. But its up to you how you play, I guess. It's not as bad as THREE LANDRAIDER ASSAULT.
I dropped missile launcher because they're Heavy 1 in my guard army. Unless they're strictly shooting, they're no good in squads since you can't fire it when you debark or anyone moves.

That's why you gotta group them into anti-tank support squads. I'll stick one of these on either side of my forces for some serious killy. That and with light infantry, sharpshooters, and cameleoline, they get even funner. Infiltrate a couple of these guys into tall buildings and you'll never get them out. I love the idea of tossing out six shots of strength 8 every turn, real nice.

Or you mount every thing in chimeras and get 2 Hvy bolters and the missle launcher firing out the open top hatch. ninja
But you really need some Hvy bolters.
In apoc battles I can field 44 Hvy bolters 3 with re rolls blaugh besides the mortars and missle launchers.
And that folks is why I love Mech guard.
Oh wait ....I forgot to count the Leviathans weapons rofl rofl rofl

Okay, so pure Missiles are out. Probably gonna put MLs and GLs in the infantry squads (or whatever they are when the new Codex comes out) and HB Teams in the Heavy Weapons Platoons.

No no no, reverse that. Put your G-launchers and H-bolters into your infantry squads so you can maximize the anti-personnel killy. Group the MLs into Anti-tank support squads with your HQ so they can post up into some cover and hammer the enemy's armor. And if they're all infantry? switch to frags and 'vape them biatches!

meltas and HBs lots of them. I fact I think I gave every squad of mine one until I ran out a melta models. The rate of kill on a frag is usually low. I run all meltas in squads and plasma guns in command squad. I have specialized squads too but those compliment what I already have in platoons

Okay, so missile support squads. And probably lascannons in the command squads.
@Mat: Yes, but what can meltas do to that oncoming swarm of gaunts? Not much, I'm sure. Those go onto the DS'ing Stormtroopers.
Y'know what? Even then I'd only do that if I already had a squad of DS'ing Stormtroopers that had Plasma. Meltas are okay, but ultimately wasted if there's nothing to get their S8+2d6 (with +1 to damage results) against.

thats why you buy imperial guard by platoon. Mass fires and once you have killed the gaunts cook the big bug with a melta shot. My storm trooper get meltas and plasmas.
