Rei couldn't help but smile at the group's challenge.

"Sure, why not. I suppose we have time." He pulled out a Poké Ball and faced his challenger, a timid-looking girl. She smiled meekly and struck a pose.

"Let's go, Chiki!" She tossed out a Poké Ball and sent out her first Pokémon, a Chikorita. Rei looked to his Zubat and nodded, placing his Poké Ball back to his belt.

"Countess, Confuse Ray." A very familiar and necessary tactic for her, she sent out her ray and dodged a Razor Leaf attack. The Chikorita tripped on her own small legs, opening herself up for a Wing Attack. Her confusion cleared quickly, and she was able to ram her head into the Zubat before being downed by another Wing Attack. The damaged Zubat sucked on her Black Sludge while she waited for her next opponent. The girl frowned.

"Oh yeah? Marshtomp, get that Zubat!" The Water/Ground Pokémon leaped out and immediately squirted water at the Zubat. The Countess could only eke out a Confuse Ray before falling to the ground. He gently scooped his friend up and placed her back on his shoulder.

"Treecko, Energy Ball!" A ball of unbridled nature went zooming towards the unlucky Marshtomp. The Water-type cried out in pain and anger before deciding to throw caution to the winds. It lowered its head and rammed into Treecko, hoping to deal massive damage before it fell. The Treecko smashed into the ground, and with its remaining power, used Giga Drain, absorbing energy from the weak Marshtomp and adding it to its own life. The Marshtomp collapsed to the ground, exhausted.

Unfazed, the girl sent out her next Pokémon, a Swinub. Rei grimaced and recalled his Treecko, replacing it with his Eevee.

"Swift attack, Eevee!" The little furry Pokémon unleashed rays at its opponent, taking a blast of cold air in the face as a result. The two then matched headbutts and ended up entangled in battle. Rei turned to face the girl.

"So are you a resident of this place? And I'm sorry, but I didn't get your name."

The girl blushed in embarrassment. "Oh, sorry, I guess I forgot to properly declare my challenge." She laughed. "I'm Rebecca. And you are?"

The Aquan gave her a thin smile. "Rei. I'm kinda new to this area. Pleasure to make your acquaintance." He lowered his hood as a gesture of goodwill. Rebecca grinned.

"You're much less scary without that thing on. I'm a little new at this battling thing, so I'm not too confident in my fighting abilities yet." She turned to look at the battle. It was clear Eevee had the upper hand.

"My Pokémon are new to the whole fighting scene. My friends tell me they'll get better with more battles, so that's why we've been challenging a lot of people lately." She recalled her Swinub, who had fainted from the effort. She looked down at her last Poké Ball.

"Well, here goes nothing. Carvanha, go for it!" The fish wasted no time chomping down on a weakened Eevee. Rei quickly returned his Eevee to the ball and sent Treecko back out.

"Giga Drain!"

"Ice Fang!"

Treecko and Carvanha both dealt massive damage, but Carvanha won over in the end with its sheer power. Rei grinned at his opponent.

"I'd say you're not too terrible at this. Given enough time, I'm sure you'd be able to be a powerful Trainer, if that's your goal." He reached into his belt and sent out Scyther.

"Unfortunately, I don't think you'll win this time. Yami, X-Scissor." The Scyther crossed its scythes and slashed out. The Carvanha promptly fainted. Rei patted his Scyther in congratulations, then turned to face Rebecca. In unison, he and the Scyther bowed politely.

"Thank you for the chance to battle. It was rewarding," he said, returning his Scyther. The girl nodded and waved good-bye.

"It was nice meeting you, Rei. Maybe we'll meet again someday. I'll be stronger!" she warned playfully. The two laughed, and Rei said his good-byes as Rebecca dashed away to the Pokémon Center.

Caleb just stood back and listened as Rose greeted them and talked about the safari. He wasn't sure if running around in tall grass for hours trying to find a pokemon to catch was his idea of fun or not. He'd give it a go though.

He walked along with the others to the Friend Safari, until a group of trainers stopped them. He was about to ask how many of them had to battle until a boy sauntered over, looking quite smug.

"My Rattata is in the top percent of Rattatas!" he taunted.

Caleb raised an eyebrow. "This should be good then..." he muttered. He sent out his Heracross. The boy just laughed before sending out a Rattata. "Oh...so you were serious..." Caleb said aloud. The Rattata rushed forward, biting the Heracross' arm. "Use Counter!" Caleb ordered. The Rattata was sent flying back to it's trainer. The boy grumbled about how his Rattata was so awesome as he recalled it.

"Avenge meeee," he called as he sent out his next pokemon. The Pidgey looked around, blinking a bit. Caleb sighed, "Horn Attack..." The Heracross rushed forward with his head lowered. The Pidgey was knocked into the air before it was recalled back to it's ball.

The boy was a bit peeved now. "Time for my secret weapon!" he shouted, letting out a Raticate. "That's not much of a secret...." Caleb muttered. He recalled his Heracross, deciding to give it a rest for now. He let out his Mudkip, who bounced around, smiling wide. Until he was tackled by the Raticate. The Mudkip pouted before taking a stance. The Raticate started slapping him around with it's tail before using Crunch. The Mudkip had had enough now, striking back with Bide. The Raticate staggered back before falling over.

The boy called back his pokemon before retreating. He looked somewhat upset, muttering to himself about Rattatas and how great they were.

With the last of the locals defeated, they moved out of the way, letting the Aqua's pass and enter the Safari "That was unexpected, but kinda fun" Rose said, looking at the bright side "Alright everyone, have fun, and catch a Pokemon if you want too. Take in the scenery and return to Coumarine City whenever you are ready too" she explained "Or whenever our boss Maddy summons us back, whatever comes first, but since she's here I think we are pretty safe for now" Rose winked at Maddy.

Now came the fun part. Caleb started sifting through the grass, his Mudkip beside him. The mud fish was busy fanning the grass with his tail. There was suddenly a yelp as his tail made contact with a snout. Caleb was a bit startled by the sound. He looked down to see a Fennekin, rubbing it's nose with a paw. It didn't look happy to say the least. It showed it's enthusiasm from being bumped into by howling and then shooting embers at Caleb and his pokemon.

"Gah!" Caleb shouted, running and brushing the fire away before it settled on his clothes. "Use Water Gun on it! At least then it shouldn't be able to use fire attacks as easily," Caleb said. The Mudkip doused the fox in water. It stood there, drenched. Now it just looked furious. "Tackle!" Caleb said, getting a spare poke ball ready. After his Mudkip had barreled into the wild Fennekin, Caleb quickly threw the ball at it. His Mudkip trotted back to him, carrying the ball in his mouth.

After traveling into the safari, Rose, who was now accompanied by her Frogadier, soon came upon a huge bulbasaur. Wait, no, it was an Ivysaur, though it still seemed to be a bit larger then the norm for an Ivysaur. Deciding to make this battle quick, Rose decided to go straight to super-effective moves "Icebeam" Rose ordered

"Saur....I-" Ivysaur was struck by Frogadier's icebeam and was frozen solid. Rose threw a Pokeball and it was drawn inside, and was soonafter captured.

Spotting Maddy as she left the Friend Safari, Rose walked over and smiled "Was this a fun idea or what?" Rose asked her "Thank you for coming, boss. Sometimes we just need to get out and do something random and fun, to keep us all sane. That's what I believe."
